Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen 3 Reviews - Page 2

Given 47% while driving a Dacia Duster 4x4 (215/65 R16) on a combination of roads for 13,000 average miles
Tyres were good the first year. Second year the tread wear reached to cca 5 mm and the wet performance drop dramatically - very low traction in corners and roundabouts so the car was sliding!

Given 82% while driving a MINI Clubman (225/40 R18) on mostly town for 30,000 spirited miles
On my F54 Mini Clubman, these tires provide a very comfortable, smooth, and quiet drive, making them an excellent choice for daily commuting. Their excellent rim protection also helps safeguard your wheels from curb damage. They perform well in both dry and wet conditions, but truly excel in temperatures below 5 degrees Celsius, where they offer a significant improvement in grip over standard summer tires. After being rotated, they provided an impressive 32,000 miles of use.

Check out how the BEST all seasons tyres perform against premium summer and winter tyres!
Given 68% while driving a Lexus NX 300h (235/55 R18) on mostly motorways for 30,000 easy going miles
Have been driving with these for almost 50000km now, been through Nordic winters, European summer heat waves etc, temperatures ranging from -20C up to over +30C, wet and dry, everything.
When they were brand new, it was difficult to fault these tyres. They preformed better than the aging premium Nordic winter tyres in the snow. Comfort good, dry performance as good as you could expect, wet performance was also fine.
After 50000km they all have around 5.5-6 mm left. However, the way the treads are designed meant that around the centre line, they have less than 1mm left at this stage (there is no uneven wear or under/over pressure, tracking on the car is checked yearly, no punctures/repairs) - the base of the tyre has a V shape so the centre of the tyre also start with less mm when they were brand new. This interesting design and wear pattern meant that there is now a significant drop in performance: aquaplaning risk increased dramatically, wet grip is completely gone, braking performance in all conditions deteriorated. Noise also increased significantly.
So even those most of the tyres still have more than 5.5mm left, they need to be replaced. They have become almost dangerous under all conditions.
Perhaps they were designed this way, but I was expecting more even and consistent performance through the lifespan of the tyres. Unfortunately I will not buy them again.

Given 86% while driving a Ford Focus MK3 (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 15,000 spirited miles
Having them already for more than 18000km (more than one and a half year) these tyres perform very nicely.
On dry very well, lot more than average grip
Next generation could improve the braking (when the weather is hot). However they are not bad.
On wet the grip is good (can be improved on next generation). The driver has to be sure the tyres have the best tyre pressure. If they don't the grip will not be good on muddy-dusty parts of the road. If the tyre's pressure is correct then they perform well.
Tested them on very cold (not freezing) to very hot (higher than 40C), they performed very well, on dry and wet.
Their shape and condition is still very nice despite the use and the time.
They can perform well (cautiously of course) even on sporty driving.
Even under heavy load their performance remains steady (tyre pressure has to be right).
Next generation could be improved on the things mentioned above.
Overall they are above average -to excellent on dry, wet, cold, very warm, rain, braking and handling.
8,0 plus/10 clearly.
Of course if they keep up like this, they will be the first option again.

Given 54% while driving a BMW X3 (225/60 R18) on a combination of roads for 1,200 easy going miles
Tires have 2000+ klm on wet and dry roads. So far, grip in wet road is quite efficient and tire performance is good. On dry roads their performance is bad to poor, not a good grip, squirm effect is heavy, above 130-140klm/hr you feel the car slipping.
Another serious issue, is that car is pulling left (despite 3 alignment carried out already) especially above 50-60klm/hr. With a speed of 140klm/hr at highway turns, you can follow the turn and wheel is straight.

Given 42% while driving a Fiat Bravo (195/60 R15) on a combination of roads for 20,000 easy going miles
Vector 4 Season Gen 3 is very soft which makes the tire quiet and this is the only good trait for this tire, everything else is horrendous.
Dry grip is good, the tire rarely slips under acceleration but being so soft the feedback is not great and handling is very vague, I tried lowering or raising pressure but still the sidewall flexes too much compared to other tires.
Wet grip is what made me scared and I replaced the tires, understeer is crazy even during slight rain in 10C taking a roundabout at 30kph is enough to make the car understeer, I never though an all season tire can be this bad in the wet, I had some ChenShingTires Sport before and the feeling was the same, outright dangerous unless you're going in a straight line.
Fresh soft snow is okay but once you get on compacted snow or ice the car understeers and doesnt brake, the rear also gets loose in a FWD car somehow...
Comfort is exceptional, these are probably the quietest and softest tires I've driven on, you don't feel cracks or bumps and potholes are muffled well, wind is noisier than road noise from the tires.
Durability is weird, every goodyear tire falls apart before wearing down, there's plenty of cases online for "goodyear chunking" where pieces of tread randomly get torn apart even though you drive 100% in asphalt and no rocks/gravel/offroad otherwise the tread has a good depth after 30tkm still over 4mm so theoretically 50tkm would be achievable without weird chunking
Safe to say I'll never buy this tire again (luckily there were gifted to me), if my old Fiat Bravo became unsafe after installing Goodyear Vector 4Season Gen3 let alone I don't even want to imagine installing them on my Audi A3 or my Ford Mustang... shame because in the past I had Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 on my BMW 640d and they were fine

Given 82% while driving a Mazda 6 Wagon (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 40,000 spirited miles
I used these tires for 40 000 km on a Mazda 6 GJ with sporty driving. My car has a set of coilovers and I have dialed in a bit too much toe on the front and it wore out the front tires prematurely, so the 40 000 km would be about 60 000 on a normal suspension setup. That said the tires had a much better lateral grip than lngitudinal grip both in the dry and the wet. Yet they were still much better than the Radar tires the car came with. They had good grip in the snow too for all season tires.
The tires are good, but with this much toe the car suffered a lot in the snow with the tires fighting each other. I changed to a set of dedicated winter tires. The only downside was the aqua and snow planing speeds were greatly reduced as the tires started to wear and the ice grip got much worse after the first summer.

Given 73% while driving a Land Rover Discovery Sport (235/55 R19) on mostly country roads for 2,000 spirited miles
I fitted 4 of these tyres to replace the Goodyear Wrangler tyres on my 2.2 Discovery Sport as the Wrangler’s are no longer available. Despite the good reviews I find the Vector 4 Season gen 3 to be softer and the steering less positive, generating more understeer in cornering. They are I think also a little noisier on the motorway. I cannot comment on dry or wet grip as I ever had an issue with the wrangler tyres. The other noticeable difference is that Vector 4-Season tyres do not have a rim protector band built in making it easier to kerb your wheels. On balance I think the Wrangler All Weather tyres were superior.

Given 70% while driving a Ford Focus MK3 (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 12,000 spirited miles
Up to now these tyres are excellent overall.
The only bad thing noticed is where some parts of the road are dirty - muddy. Two - three times now grip was almost lost, not dangerously, but almost dangerous.

Given 63% while driving a BMW 218d Active Tourer (205/60 R16) on mostly town for 20,000 average miles
Had them for 3 years now. Till last week, I always bragged how good my decision was to buy all season tires. I live in continental Europe. We don't get snow any more like we did when I was younger. All that has changed. In winter now we get few cm snow at best, and temp. few degrees below 0. That is why I decided not tu buy set of winter tires. And was happy with my decision. But this weekend I drove into montains. No, not Alps, just some 1000m altitide. When I wanted to park, there was unpaved road with some compacted snow on it. It was uphill. I was unable to get forward! Wheels were just spinning! And there were at least 10 other cars who drove on the same road without any issues! What a disappointment! When I tried to turn around, my car started to slip. Almost hitting a tree. I don't understand how these got so good reviews on tire tests in snow. So, even if driving to montains every 3 years, next time I'm buying real winter tires.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Generally the Vector 4Seasons Gen 3 performs almost as well as a lot of central European winter tyres in snow so I'm surprised it didn't work out for you!
Given 90% while driving a Hyundai ix35 (215/65 R16) on a combination of roads for 35,000 spirited miles
This is an excellent tire for al year round driving, i live in Lithuania and have been driving these tires for 1.5 years , so two winters (slush or wet winters, rarely snow) and one summer. these were one of the best tyres i have ever driven on. Does not matter ice/snow/slush they handle everything perfectly. the tyres have been very good for 45000 km. From 45000 to 50000 km they have become more slippery, meaning when light ice or rain you can expect to get a slight drift going 60km/h on a down ramp. would highly recommend it. for me the only downside is wear, expected atleast 60k from them.

After eight months and about 10000km (or more) Goodyear vector all season gen 3 are very nice. Very nice grip on wet, dry, hot and cold.

On very hot conditions and sport driving they performed really well (although it is still first year - less than 20000 km - not as well as 10-25C temperature - they are not made for sport driving).
