Hankook Ventus Prime 3 K125
WatchThe Hankook Ventus Prime 3 K125 is a premium touring summer tyre that blends strong everyday refinement with impressively confident dry-road performance. Independent tests repeatedly highlight its standout braking (including wet braking) and secure dry handling, while drivers praise its comfort, predictable steering and strong price-to-performance. It feels like a well-rounded, mainstream summer choice that delivers more 'go' than its touring brief suggests. The main caveat is wet stability in standing water, which can become more noticeable as the tread wears.

Questions and Answers for the Hankook Ventus Prime 3 K125
Ask a questionWould these tyres (in 195/55 R16) be a good replacement for the Continental Premium Contact 2 SSR runflats that came with my MINI Cooper Clubman? I would prefer non-runflats. Thank you
I live in Greece and I own a Kia Cee'd (2007). I'm going to replace the 3,5 years old tyres (Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance) but I don't know which ones are better for my car; The Hankook Ventus Prime 3 or the Michelin CrossClimate? I know that the Michelin are more expensive but I'd like to feel safe at all road conditions. Do the Hankooks ensure my driving security at a sudden snowfall? Thank you.
I have a Cayman 2.9 and am looking to run a squared setup of 245/40/18, would these be a good tyre for track and street work on a car with 265hp, or would you recommend another tyre like ps4? Also, would you recommend a square setup that low on the car, as the standard setup for a 18" cayman is 235/40/18 front and 265/40/18 rear.
I have now 4 Michelin primacy 3 tyres on my Opel/Vauxhall Astra K 1.0. What do you recommend for a 1 pair change: Ventus prime 3 of Efficient Grip Performance? Or maybe an s1 evo 3 or a Eagle F1 assymetric 5 pair? I will start with 1 pair change beacause the profile of the other pair is still good. Thanks
If you can choose between the Hankook Ventus Prime 3 or the Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance, what would you choose for a dynamic (but not speeding) drivestyle?
Which would be a better choice for my compact Mitsubishi Lancer sedan, the Hankook ventus prime 3 or the Kumho Ecsta ps31? I am looking for a comfortable tire with low noise and good breaking distance.
Hello Which would be a better replacement for the Continentals on my Vauxhall Agila Design 2009 - the garage has offered Hankook Ventus Prime 3, Kumho ES31 Ecowing or a Laufenn tyre. I have to replace all four tyres. And does it matter which one I choose to work with the spare wheel? I drive on motorway and lanes. The Ventus is more or less the same price as the original Continentals. I really wanted a mid range tyre. Thank you.

Review Summary
Based on 102 user reviews
Across 102 reviews, the Hankook Ventus Prime 3 K125 is most often described as a strong value summer touring tyre with confident dry grip, predictable handling, and good comfort for the price. Many drivers also report low noise when new and generally satisfactory tread life, with several seeing 30,000-55,000 km/miles-range service depending on vehicle and use. The most consistent drawback is wet performance in standing water-multiple users note aquaplaning risk and reduced wet confidence as tread depth drops-along with some reports of increased noise over time.
Strengths
- Excellent value/price-to-performance
- Strong dry grip and dry braking
- Comfortable ride quality (touring-oriented)
- Generally low noise when new / quiet for the category
- Stable
- Predictable handling and good steering feel for everyday driving
- Often reported as decent-to-good tread life for a non-sport tyre
Areas for Improvement
- Aquaplaning/standing-water resistance not class-leading
- Especially as tread wears down
- Wet grip/handling confidence can drop noticeably with wear
- Noise can increase with age/mileage (rumble/road noise at higher speeds)
Top 3 Hankook Ventus Prime 3 K125 Reviews
plus:
(+) relatively cheap for a premium tyre (idr 995k/pc vs 1200k/pc for dunlop enasave)
(+) amazing dry grip for the price
(+) surprisingly quiet
minus:
(-) might need to check your tyre pressure more often, especially if you live in an area where the roads are terrible
(-) they easily develop crevices/bulges around the sidewall
(-) wet grip is ok, but could be better
Latest Hankook Ventus Prime 3 K125 Reviews
- Amazing quality/price ratio when bought in 2021
- Excellent on dry roads: good lateral grip, short braking distance
- Good comfort/handling balance: good steering feedback, predictable handling, handle well rough roads as well as highways
- Decent lifespan : 32'000km
- Average good on wet roads: good lateral grip when new, hydroplaning can happen below 3mm of tread, poor grip on cold wet roads around 3-5°C, when you'd normally switch to winter tires
- Quiet when new and got a little noisy after a year and 6'000km
- Cope decently well with the heat, they can do 15~20km on a race track before handling gets sloppy. Handling when hot is still safe and gets back to normal once cooled down. There's no way to overheat them on open roads.
I bought them because they had an sealent that would be good against punctures but this year we didn't get any nails or screw, so we never got to try out if they held.
Felt secure on rainy days, while the treads worns out the more we reduce the speed on wet roads.
Half of the life of the tyres we rotated them.
We could probably have them on for 12427 miles more, but colder weahter is coming!
In the rain they perform well and with no surprise. No aquaplanning noted but always driving safely when wet.
Wear seems a bit much, they appear to be at 75% life remaining after one year and 15000Km. This was to be expected from the good dry grip. You lose some you win some.
I'd buy again for the price and performance but I hope the new pattern will be available on my size when I change these.
