Michelin Pilot Sport 3 PS3 Reviews - Page 6

Given 79% while driving a Audi A6 S line, LeMans 2.0 TDi 170 (255/35 R19 W) on a combination of roads for 27,850 average miles
We switched to PS3 after Pirelli Rosso which we found to wear quickly and easily damaged. Often lasted under 5000 miles. The SP3 set felt better driving in all conditions except wet. They lasted 27000 miles wearing evenly. Very pleased. Now have SP4 set. These feel better than the SP3 in all conditions.

Very good grip in dry and wet conditions. Driving in curves, I found them a bit softer compared to Good Year Assymetric 2 F1. In terms of noisy levels, I would say that were low. The front tyres lasted about 7,000 miles and therefore I had to bring the back tyres in front. They lasted a bit more compared to Assym 2 F1. On the road, I enjoyed more the Assymetric 2 F1 compared to PS3. However, If you are looking for a comfortable sport tyre, then the Pilot Sport 3 should be your choice. My next choice was Michelin Primacy 3.

Very good dry and wet grip, one of the best, but, they have lasted just 12000 miles. I don't drive aggressively or at high speed, mainly 40-50 mph on A roads. I expected around 15000 miles at least owning to the fact they are quite a soft compound. They are definitely a summer tyre as below 5 degrees they were very noisy and lacked grip. Didn't like them at all in the winter mornings. When they get to 3mm they are also quite noisy. In summary, they are a good tyre but the terrible wear rate and the cost would put me off having them again. I have used Continental CSC 3 and Goodyear Eagle F1 as well and while both may not grip as well (only by the narrowest of margins) they are better in colder conditions and wear better.

Factory tyres on S85D and my first impression was very good. The tyres would control the quite enormous torque of the car really well, both on dry and wet. Never managed to really spin them, even though I tried some stuff I didn't believe were possible (full throttle in the middle of a highway exit from 20 to 50mph). Braking distance, comfort noise and rolling resistance are all scoring high. My issue is the wear. After 20k miles, all tyres are about to meet their creator. Great performance for the first 5-8k miles, but after that, their performance was constantly dropping. Maybe it is just the car and its camber setting that is meant to destroy tyres, but I was not really pushing the car (well 95% of the times). Next tyre is ASY3.

Exceptional tyre from the beggining.I use them in both urban and highway use, very little in gravel and 5 or 6 times in snow.In dry conditions and with good tarmac they are just superb. There is no need to warm them before use such as other tyres because they have soft rubber, even if you want to push them with high speeds or in fast bends. The same performance you will meet in worse quality tarmac where other tyres will slip, these ones just gives you full grip.In wet roads and in heavy rain, they are awesome, not even thinking of aquaplaning, these tyres gives you freedom to drive the car as you want with no fear at all.In snow,i use them a little. As long as they are summer tyres you do not seek too much grip but with low speed and carefull driving they are ok. The wear is what are you waiting for a soft tyre, after 1 year and about 12.500 miles (20000 km) the first signs of wear shown up,from the inside first, because the car is lowered from its factory unlike the cheaper versions of fabias, and some other very small split and cracks in the sidewalls.Unti then no problems in handling. They are very very comfort in driving, the car runs smoothly in every surface and no noises from the road and tyres comes into the cabin. The second year of use,i change the front tyres to the back and use them for another 15.500 miles (25000 km). They were still very good in dry and wet roads but when second year passed, the first months they show enough "tired" and it slips a little if you puss them hard,or in slippery surfaces.I don't say they are dangerous but the show you that its time to change them...With carefull driving and no "street races" etc they are very safe, very comfort, they dont become harder and it will last you 3 years for sure. The noise stays in teh same levels (very quiet) such as the driving comfort and road feedback.I strongly recommend to everyone to choose them.

The wet and dry is really good. This tyre enable to cut puddles of water confident in high speed of 90km/h. Only disappointed is the wear off is pretty fast.
