Pirelli PZero Nero Reviews - Page 9

Brilliant dry performance , at some expence to cold wet performance (not had any scary moments though) , I have had 3 sets now and quite like them, lasted 8000miles on front and about 16000 on the rear. Got me to work in 3inches of snow. A little pricey.

Read a lot of reviews of this tyre and was wary of buying, but got a good price so went for them on the fronts after wearing out the contisports.
Overall i was impressed with grip in wet and dry did have a few snappy moment in the wet but was being stupid. They are quite bumpy however and after just under 10000 miles are knackered probably wont buy again because they are quite expensive and havent lasted very long.

Had the Pirelli PZero nero as standard fit to my car. When I first had the car I was impressed with the handling and feedback.

After a few weeks ownership and 3,000 miles I was shocked at the wear.

Worst is the tramlining particularly at slow speeds. On the motorway all seems fine. However at 30mph around town it is nothing short of dangerous. Minor imperfections grap the car. Firm two handed steering required at all time.

Given 49% while driving a Ford fiesta st (205/40 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 9,000 average miles
The tyre performance in the dry is more than acceptable. Good levels of grip, keen turn in and very progressive feel.

However, to re-iterate what the majority of people are saying, the wet performance is shocking. Grip disappears and traction is easily broken. You don't even to dump the clutch or floor it. In the wet, accelerating briskly in second gear will break traction.

A second - as serious - problem, is the tramlining which gets worse as the tyres wear. Currently between 3-4mm and on anything other than completely smooth and flat roads (in this country!!), the car is all over the place. Depending on the severity of the road imperfection, the car can be pulled off line quite violently. Also seemed to make the ride very crashy. Noisy and unforgiving.

Wear seems average.

May recommend this tyre for dry track use but not everyday road use. Will try Uniroyal Rainsport 2's next.

I have very mixed feelings about this tyre, in the dry the grip is amazing and on hot days you can even feel the stickyness of the tyre, they hold on with such temerity that you might think there was no limit to how hard you can push...

But.. in the wet they are shocking, not just the soaking wet but even in the damp they are are a bit of a nightmare, especially that sheen you get after dry periods, not a relaxing drive as they tend to completely let go in a split second, very odd.

Dont even talk about the snow, completely useless, just stay at home and blame the tyres!

Wear is also not good at all, 10,000 miles and the fronts were completely gone, to be honest i expect a little more especially from at tyre at this price, one well know type place quoted me ?140 a corner for replacements, no thanks...

The other problem is the tramlining, never felt anything like it, sometimes it felt like a bit of a battle to change direction, they just want to go straight!

comfort is average at best, feel from the road is great (in the dry)and you always know what is happening, but this seems to be at the cost of comfort, the recent glut of new pot holes caused real problems and on a couple of occasions i really thought i'd destroyed wheel and tyre, violent bangs and crashes a plenty

In conclusion i think that if you live in hot dry country and have plenty of cash then these tyres are great, i suspect that on the billiard smooth roads of spain that these tyres would be the best thing since sliced bread but in the UK with it pot holes, road ruts and rain these tyres suck!

Had Kumho Ku31's before these and i regret the decision to change, with the recent weather being so poor i thought that these would provide better grip than the previous Kumho's, how wrong could i be the tyres give me no confidence in the wet and a few times the car has started to loose traction on wet roundabouts and corners, they are slightly better in dry conditions but as soon as funds become avaliable i will be changing them.

Given 57% while driving a Fiat 500 Abarth (205/40 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 7,000 spirited miles
I had these tyres fitted to my Abarth 500 as standard and I have mixed thoughts tbh. Their grip in the dry is very good; they are progressive and predictable, although steering feel could be better and turn-in a little sharper.

However, once it starts raining these tyres are a whole different beast. The progressiveness dissapears and they have a tendancy to 'snap' if you have to make any sharp movements in the wet. I ended up having to lift-off on a wet roundabout and although prepared for a little lift-off oversteer, the way these tyres behaved was shocking. The rear end lost grip completely, and I went into a pretty epic slide. This is all good fun on a track, but on your way home from work you'd expect better from a 100 quid tyre. They're also fairly noisy!

If I lived in a country where sun was guaranteed 365 days a year then I would consider buying these tyres again. They are very good when it's dry but I lose all confidence in their effectiveness in the wet. Not much fun in England.

Nice smooth tyre with good levels of grip in the wet and dry, could have done with a few more miles out of them.

Just whacked these on replacing god awful toyo proxes 4 tyres. WOW, after the initial scrubbing in, the car just sticks to the road.

Solid road holding and much more confidence inspiring. Well worth the price. Not had a chance to give them a go in the wet.

159 SW JTDm 16v (1.9 diesel) on 17s
Had Goodyear Eagle F1s before, and have now swapped these Pirellis to the back (where they belong) after 8000 miles and put on some new Goodyears. And the peace and quiet is back, along with the steering feel.

I can't recommend the P-Zeros on the 159 - more road noise, steering more vague around centre and a bit dead at all times, and more tramlining than any other front tyres I've had. Masses of grip, but that's probably more the car than the tyres.

Wear seems OK. 4mm left after 8000m

Very average tyre at a performance price would def not buy again. Start with the good points wear was good and road noise was not bad. Dry grip is good but not excellent and they are not directional if you like to change em around. However the biggest downfall of these tyres is wet handling, I would say they are dangerous. Its also hard to know the limit of these tyres one min they grip the next they wont. They should be no more than ?60-70 for what you get but at a ?100 they are too expensive. Would not recommend to anyone because of the very poor grip in the wet and lack of feedback. Check out the Falken 451`s twice as good at half the price.

Given 53% while driving a Alfa Romeo 159 (235/40 R19) on mostly country roads for 9,000 spirited miles
When I upgraded my wheels to 19" these tyres were supplied by my main dealer and I have to say I'm not all that impressed!! Don't get me wrong, the wet and dry grip is very good indeed, BUT the wear rate is phenomenal!! I'm quite an enthusiastic driver (But not in a haze of tyre smoke kind of way!!) and use both country roads and motorway, I've really struggled to make these last 12 months/9,000 miles. The road noise is awful and they track the camber of the road something terrible, making driving more of a chore than a pleasure!! The tracking/alignment was checked when the new wheels were fitted, so I can only assume that it's the tyres!! Also in the size I use 235/40/19 these tyres are VERY expensive at around ?200 a corner especially when all 4 last less than a year!! Suffice to say that I have changed my tyre size for the next lot to 245/35/19 and this has opened up a whole load more tyre brands for me...Either Nexen N3000 or Avon ZZ3 next, I've used them before & they're a whole load better than these 'Top Brand' Pirellis.....Won't be buying Pzero nero's again!!
