Uniroyal RainSport 3 Reviews - Page 6

Given 89% while driving a Audi A8 (225/45 R17) on mostly motorways for 30,000 spirited miles
My 2nd full set of Rainsport 3s so I've done nearly 50k miles on 2 sets. Current set are due a change now after 30k Miles.

These tyres for this car with the right pressure are excellent. I've driven through standing water, plenty of snow, and done lots of motorway cruising. I thought my car was good in snow before...these tyres turned it into a snow mobile!

At pace they cope exceptionally well. I have literally nothing bad to say about them other than they're a bit noisy on certain motorways. For an Audi A8 4wd, these have been the best tyres and great VFM that I've had in the last 10 years on my A8s

Given 94% while driving a Ford Puma (195/50 R15 V) on a combination of roads for 3,000 spirited miles
Just bought a second set of two tyres for the front on my Puma, had them on the back since january and no problem what so ever, did about 8k km's and it shows minimal wear tossed out a set of continental ContiPremiumContact 2 that were really worn out and the tyres feel brilliant.

Given 89% while driving a Renault Megane RS265 (235/40 R18) on mostly country roads for 7,000 spirited miles
I bought my Renault sport Megane 265 cup with Uniroyal rainsport 3 already fitted. Now I've never used this tyre before and had seen mixed reviews so I wasn't very optimistic and was going to change them. The day I bought the car was overcast and very damp. i went for a drive on some well known driving roads and spent the day out driving "enthusiastically" and I completely changed my view on the tyres, I was shocked at how well they cope. Wet grip is one of the best of any performance tyre and even in the dry they don't struggle. I can't believe the performance you get for the small price. Ok if you really push them they can overheat and go a bit spongy, but on a road you are never going to notice this. Only downside I have is wear. Now the rears are still around 5.5mm of tread but the fronts arent far off the markers now so they've lasted around 6k on the front. I could probably get another 1-2k out of them but they will be getting changed soon and I'll be sticking with the rainsports. Highly recommended even for spirited drivers

Given 91% while driving a Peugeot 207cc (225/45 R17 W) on mostly country roads for 5,000 spirited miles
I had read a lot of reviews before I bought these tyres and was a little sceptical but, because of the price point, I thought I'd give them a go over the winter and they replaced 4 Continental sportcontact 5's. They took a little getting used to. I played around with pressures until they felt right. I think most of the negative reviews stem from underpressured tyres. You have to ignore the manufacturer's pressure recommendations and find the pressures to suit you car with this tyre. For example, Peugeot state 2.5 bar front and back for the 207cc. Once I'd got the pressures right (2.4 bar for the back and 2.6 bar for the front) these tyres turned into the best tyre I have ever had on a car. They performed extremely well in all road conditions and are especially good in the wet. They surprised me by having lots of grip in snow too. On fast corners they stick to the road like glue in bot the wet and dry. As for wear, I have done around 5k miles since Agust 2017 and there is no signiificant sign of wear - still on 7mm, I expect to get over 15k miles out of them. I will never buy another brand of tyre for this car. Love them

Given 93% while driving a Ford Focus ST 225 (2003 2007) (225/45 R17) on mostly town for 500 spirited miles
Simply put, they're the best tyres iv ever had, my car is running around 280hp and 350Ft of torque and i can now full throttle accelerate though 1st gear in the dry with very little wheelspin and 2nd gear in the rain with no spin at all, compared to my old tyres which would lose grip straight away in the same circumstances, goes round corners like you wouldn't believe now and very progressive when the do eventually lose grip. only had them about 500 miles so cant say anything about wear.

Given 79% while driving a Renault Clio 172 (225/45 R17) on mostly country roads for 2,000 spirited miles
The best performance tyre I have used on my car. It is impressive in every way, particularly in the wet. These tyres have so much grip that it forced my to ditch the Toyo Proxes T1-R that were on the other axle as it highlighted how poor the Toyos were. The Uniroyal RS3 is an excellent tyre at any price point, and one which I wouldn't hesitate buying again. I would rate them above the 4 other midrange to premium tyres I've tried on the same car.

Given 84% while driving a Mercedes Benz 190 2.3 16 (225/45 R17) on mostly country roads for 15,000 average miles
Have them fitted to two different cars:
1. 2001 E class estate - Fitted to rears only and made the mistake of not going for the XL version (which have a stiffer sidewall). Car feels slightly vague in the rear as a result but otherwise I have no complaints. Better than the Pirellis that came off the car ever were and no noisier either. We do regular long runs to the south of France and find them superb.

2. 1993 Mercedes 500SL - fitted all round in a 255/35/19 in XL version. Grip in the wet is astonishing. This is the second set fitted to this car - previously it was on 245/45/17 (also in XL version). Absolutely no hesitation buying them again .
In fact when our third car (Mercedes SL500 (later shape than this one) is due for tyres I shall be looking for another set if they do them in the required sizes....Currently the SL500 is on GY Assymentric 2s and where the RS3 shod 500SL will accelerate away in the wet with no drama at all the SL500 spins the rear wheels and really gets unsettled - in spite of the older car having more power!

Given 55% while driving a Mercedes Benz E250 CDI (275/30 R19 W) on a combination of roads for 800 spirited miles
I replaced my Michelin PSS rear tyres with Uniroyals Rainsport 3. Terrible mistake. My car isteering is vague, I now have really bad understeer and, at the drop of a hat, the car looses traction, particularly when exiting a T junction. Checked pressures etc and had the wheels aligned and camber checked. Never again, will be swapping back to Michelin soon...despite the cost! Car is a humble Mercedes E 250 CDI Sport...not exactly sporty but has been made much worse by these tyres

Renault (225/45 R17 W) on mostly motorways for 8,000 average miles
When brand new they were comfortable but soon after they turn into something unpleasant on dry surface ! On wet road they are doing well I must say . Left side of my car is behaving generally good but on my side (drivers side) tires are very noisy especially on the concrete surfaces well they two faced when driving over rough materials they getting grip and car start speeding as a cheetah when on hunt but noise is very significant as they turning opposite direction on one side of the vehicle and this is the breaking point when I starting thinking of buying a new set of tires ! Also when driving at high speed car feels unstable and there is a very clear inclination to swerve and pull you to nearest ditch or central reservation ! My car is in great condition very well serviced and looked after and treated with only a Genuine branded parts including steering and suspension and all has been done just 8 months ago including wheels alignment etc..etc.So there is Nothing wrong with my baby ! Miles I've done on my Uniroyal s- 8000 mil. and still 5mm of tread left ( front wheels), so this is very positive sign regarding longevity but I will definitely not buy again this tires .

The tyres have transformed my car, much more supple and smoother riding, steering feel much improved and the grip especially in tricky conditions is excellent,to top it all the tyre is quieter than the potenzas that were originally on the car.Only done 1k on them but they look brand new!,a simply brilliant tyre.
