Uniroyal RainSport 3 Reviews - Page 5

Given 79% while driving a Volkswagen Golf MK5 GT 170 (225/45 R17 W) on mostly country roads for 14,500 average miles
Excellent grip in both the wet and the dry. I didn't have problems on snow also. The feedback you get from the tyres is surprising good. However, they lasted only for 22,000 km (GoodYear Asyymetric 2 and Michelin Primacy 3 lasted longer). Taking into consideration the price and the period that the tyres lasted, probably I won't buy them again.

Given 62% while driving a Fiat 500 (205/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 5,000 spirited miles
I got a full set of these on a new car I'd purchased and at first thought they were superb tyres.

Taken in isolation they have excellent dry grip, seeming like quite a soft compound. As a result they also perform well in the wet and are as good as any tyre I've used in wet conditions.

However the price for the soft compound is shocking wear rate, my fronts are half dead after only 5000 miles, and having used them for a very short evening track session, the sidewalls have almost completely scrubbed blank, meaning they're flexing far too much.

Ultimately they don't result in much steering feel owing to the soft construction.

Budget price, budget performance. Spent 50% more for tyres that will last 3x as long!

Given 89% while driving a Ford Ford 2010 c max 1.6 tdci titanium (215/50 R17) on a combination of roads for 8,000 average miles
Excellent all round tyre even in the snow, they give a far superior more comfortable ride opposed to the previous rubbish pirelli p7s

(225/45 R21) on a combination of roads for 23,610 average miles
Great tyre.
not one complain. maybe other more expensive tyres can do more mileage but these tyres are like glue on roads in all weather conditions till the end! and for a very affordable price.

Bought same ones for a Touareg 3.0 v6

Given 86% while driving a BMW 530i (275/35 R19 W) on a combination of roads for 1,000 spirited miles
Superb tyres that did very well on my E39 530i Sport

I drove this car like it needed; hard (safely) and the tyres stuck to the road like glue, both wet and dry!

My car was lowered on coilovers and very well dialled in and it handled superbly for a large saloon!

I'd highly recommend them; they give a superbly compliant ride as well. With a slightly softer sidewall; they weren't crashy at all

Given 94% while driving a Volkswagen Touareg (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 22,000 average miles
I brought a full set of the Uniroyal Rainsport 3 back on 22 June 2016 and put them on my 2014 VW Touareg, These tyres are fantastic, The road grip in all conditions is superb and the mileage I have got from these is 20,000 on the front and 22,000 miles on the back tyres. My service last week advised I change them soon as they are down to 1.6mm on the rear.

I will definately be fitting these again and have also fitted them all around to the wife's Tiguan. These tyres stop very efficiently and quickly, the A rating on the wet grip gives brilliant stopping in the dry. I absolutely recommend these tyres and I'm just starting my second full set after 2 years. I think with the softer rubber manufacturers are using have given me outstanding wear considering I do a combination long, short and medium distance driving and did not rotate my tyres. I also drive spirited and easy going so the tyres have had me giving hard driving into bends to test the grip.

For a 2 ton vehicle to get that sort of mileage nowadays is impressive, very under rated tyre,
Regards
K. Oscar

Given 74% while driving a Mercedes Benz E Class Estate (245/45 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 10,000 average miles
Really good, replaced Continentals on MB E-Class which were not good and feathered up early on creating lots of road noise. Uniroyals now half worn some noise 40-50mph but really good in all conditions, not so great in snow, but big RW drive Merc not best on icy narrow roads in snow anyway, bit of a handful. RainSport 3 give the confidence you need on wet roads. But have just burst one on UK's pot-holed roads.
Would buy again.

Given 70% while driving a Ford Fiesta (190/55 R15 V) on a combination of roads for 8,000 spirited miles
Fitted to a 13 plate ford Fiesta ecoboost (99BHP) and driven on a combination of motorway, A roads and country road driving.

Fitted in August and run for a little under 8 months.

Initial bed in was quick with almost no noticeable detriment to performance (comparative to Kuhmo Ecstas fitted previously which took circa 150 miles to bed)
Tyres were good over the late summer months providing good progressive grip throughout. It was very easy to push the tyres to an audible squeal without too much understeer.
Winter months found the tyres lacking below 5 degrees with a lot of poor feedback and mushy feel overall.
Once in snow the tyres were as numb as any other summer tyre driven in snow, but in the UK its reasonably unusual to have dedicated winter tyres.

Coming back out to this spring the tyres are doing what you would expect with a name like rainsport, very resistant to aqua planing and good wet and greasy road handling.

At 8000 miles I am around 4mm of total tread left and looking for the next round of tyres prior to the next MOT. At £71 / corner fitted these are not budget offerings and whilst adequate for sports cars with low annual mileages operating predominantly in the warmer seasons looking for top performance I don't think they present the value I need for a daily driver. I would buy again but as application specific products.

Given 61% while driving a Saab Automobile 9 3 Vector Sport Sportwagon (150) (225/45 R17) on mostly country roads for 3,000 easy going miles
A good well balanced tyre and good in the wet. Major downside is that my front tyres have worn out less than 3,000miles on Uk roads. Daily commute journey. 46 miles per day.

Given 79% while driving a Renault Megane II 1.9dci (205/50 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 100 spirited miles
Just fitted a new set of Rainsport's 3 after a winter set of Dunlop wintersport 3d.I can only say wow what a difference!
The tyres are quiet, comfortable and above all the car hold its line like on tracks(which honestly I did not expect after reading some tests).Wet grip for which they are highly louded its still untested by me,as we have no rain these past couple of days,so every conclusion so far was on dry roads with very keen driving.
I will keep this review updated in future, for now only positive expirience to share.
P.S.the colorfull line on the carcase is gone in less than 100 miles, but for 350€ in this rather expensive size who cares?!?Safety first, money second.

Given 89% while driving a Audi A8 (225/45 R17) on mostly motorways for 30,000 spirited miles
My 2nd full set of Rainsport 3s so I’ve done nearly 50k miles on 2 sets. Current set are due a change now after 30k Miles.

These tyres for this car with the right pressure are excellent. I’ve driven through standing water, plenty of snow, and done lots of motorway cruising. I thought my car was good in snow before...these tyres turned it into a snow mobile!

At pace they cope exceptionally well. I have literally nothing bad to say about them other than they’re a bit noisy on certain motorways. For an Audi A8 4wd, these have been the best tyres and great VFM that I’ve had in the last 10 years on my A8s

Given 94% while driving a Ford Puma (195/50 R15 V) on a combination of roads for 3,000 spirited miles
Just bought a second set of two tyres for the front on my Puma, had them on the back since january and no problem what so ever, did about 8k km's and it shows minimal wear tossed out a set of continental ContiPremiumContact 2 that were really worn out and the tyres feel brilliant.
