Pirelli P6000 Reviews - Page 7

Given 91% while driving a Citroën C3 (185/65 R15 H) on a combination of roads for 165,000 average miles
Very good tyre for most of year, not great in ice and snow. Generally get about 30k from fronts and 40 from rears.

Given 80% while driving a Mazda 6 (205/55 R16 V) on a combination of roads for 3,000 spirited miles
Fitted these to the front wheels to replace the god awful Dunlop SP Sport tyres which are standard fitment on my car, which fine in the dry but like greasy trays in the damp.

The difference between these and the P6000's are like night and day. Excellent grip in all conditions, but I noticed the improvement especially in damp conditions. Cannot fault them

These tyres were fitted on my 1.9tdi bora when i bought them, I would highly recommand this tyre as it is hard wearing and grippy.

I am supprised at the comments about wet grip for Pirelli P6000, i found them to be great on wet or dry roads. I drive to Italy for summer hols in a Mercedes C180 Coupe and find these tyres 1st class. When it rains in Italy it realy rains. My only problem with them is the wear on the rear drive wheels. the fronts have lasted 35,000 but the rears only about 15000. And NO i am not a boy racer !!! I am 64 drive a truck for a living and use my car for leisure and holidays only. I also find the road noise to be low until they start to wear.

Rock hard, unresponsive and expensive.

Given 41% while driving a SEAT Leon TDi 130 (205/55 R16) on a combination of roads for 15,000 average miles
These tyres came fitted when I bought the car and I would never buy this brand again. The dry grip is acceptable but the first time I drove in the wet was shocking; I drive a 1.9 TDI diesel and even under light acceleration these tyres will loose traction and as for going around corners - forget it! The car will plough straight on with these tyres fitted.

These tyres are so bad in the wet, that with the winter months approaching, I am now going to replace them even though they are nowhere near fully worn.

How can a preimum brand like pirelli sell such utter rubbish?

Given 40% while driving a Vauxhall Corsa (185/45 R15) on mostly town for 10,000 easy going miles
These tyres were on the car when i bought it a year ago and after 10,000 miles they have worn down very little. They are fine in dry conditions and even grip surprisingly well in the snow. The tyres seem to handle bumps and potholes well as long as they're not too big but are fairly noisy.

However, the problems start when the road is wet. There was some light rain today (no more than 10 minutes) and while going round a roundabout the back of the car came out. If i was driving like a maniac i would have expected that to have happened, but i was in second gear and doing 10mph with no throttle or brakes applied. The tyres are inflated to the manufacturers recommended level and have 5mm tread left. I just cant understand how this could happen at such a low speed in a 1.2L front wheel drive car.

Given 64% while driving a Rover 620SDi (600 Series) (205/55 R16) on a combination of roads for 25,000 average miles
Bought these tyres for my Rover 600 and it was excellent until the first rain. You need to drive very carefully when driving on a wet road. The second problem with these tyres is that they become hard very soon and then they are unbelievably noisy. On the other hand, because of the same reason (hard tyres) it takes ages to finish them. It must have been an excellent tyre 10 or 15 years ago but nowadays I wouldn't give them a second chance as there are much better tyres on the market.

The P6000 is a poor tyre but the P6000 Powergy tyre has far better grip in wet and dry. Would never buy P6000 again but would consider Powergy version.

If you're driving a GT etc, stay clear of these tyres! They are dangerous in the wet! I bought a full set on 24 April 11, and thought as they were Pirelli they'd be good. I aquaplained in these at 40 on a country road and 50 on a dual carriage way on Friday night. I cant believe that a garage recommended these. They are fine in the dry, but are not good on the corners.
