“It is 2021 and there are more grippy tires out there. In the dry, they seem to be very sensitive to temperature and pressure. When set to the point, they grip well in the dry with good feedback. Little...”
Yokohama S Drive
The Yokohama S Drive is a summer performance tyre with generally good dry grip, handling and tread life in owner use. Wet-grip opinions are divided, noise often draws criticism and ride comfort is mixed.
The Yokohama S Drive has its clearest owner support in dry conditions, with 21 favourable grip accounts against four complaints. Dry handling and steering feel also receive more praise than criticism, although some drivers find feedback limited. Tread life is generally well regarded, with ten favourable accounts against four critical ones. These qualities give it a more consistent case for dry-road use than for drivers expecting the same reassurance in every condition.
Wet grip is almost evenly divided, with 12 favourable and ten critical reports, so it should not be treated as a dependable shared strength. Noise also leans negative, with nine complaints against five positive accounts, while comfort is evenly split. Longer-use reports describe both retained grip and deterioration, leaving uncertainty about how performance changes as it wears. This assessment rests on owner experience alone, and the positive dry-road feedback does not resolve the disagreement about wet behaviour or refinement.

Replace by hardcore Advan AD08s due to budget as a better alternative as S-Drives are not so harsh to my ride. 25000 miles or two and half years of usage with about half tread depth of around 5mm.
Sidewall not as hard as AD08 for sure, so it is the ultimate dry grip, It is a little bit overpriced in Hong Kong, despite the fact that S-Drive made in Japan.
To moderator, may I hereby advise to re-classify S-Drive to High Performance / Ultra High Performance Summer Tyres. As official Yokohama category.
