  • Limited grip and extended braking distances on wet roads.
  • The Firestone Winterhawk 4 performs well in winter conditions and offers safe handling on dry roads. However, its poor performance on wet roads, including limited grip and extended braking distances, is a significant drawback. This tyre might be suitable for areas with predominantly dry, cold winters but could be problematic in regions with frequent wet conditions during winter.

2024 ADAC 17 inch Winter Tyre Test
10th of 16 tyres
  • The Firestone Winterhawk 4 achieves a satisfactory rating for driving safety, with good performance on wet and wintery roads but significant weaknesses on dry surfaces. It lacks precision and feedback on dry roads, requiring frequent steering corrections and exhibiting a tendency to oversteer. However, it performs well on wet surfaces with good braking and handling, although its lateral aquaplaning performance is only average. On snow, it offers good braking, traction, and handling. Its environmental performance is average, with satisfactory lifespan and wear, but good fuel efficiency.

Top 3 Firestone Winterhawk 4 Reviews

Given 92% while driving a BMW 118d (205/55 R16) on a combination of roads for 1,800 average miles
I bought 4 brand new tyres in November 2020 and this review is after 3000km. I'm pretty happy with them. The price was pretty good in comparison with Bridgestone and Michelin. Although I try to skip as much icy roads as possible, in rain or snow they perform well. I tried them even in a snowy mountain and everything was alright. Braking path is fairly short no matter the weather. No road noises, good responsiveness and they feel pretty reliable. For a budget tyre, this is a really good value for money.

Good quality for mid-range brand, cover winter needs. In general there is no high potential of performance for winter tyres independently of brand!
