Hankook OPTIMO K415 Reviews - Page 3

Given 79% while driving a Nissan Latio (Tiida) (185/65 R15 H) on a combination of roads for 35,000 average miles
this is a very good tyre for the price. Road holding is Very Good. Noise level is excellent when new, loads better than the stock Toyo J50s on my car. Good in the wet, but coming up to 35k miles its close to the limit and about due for a change as it is getting a little slippy on wet surfaces when driven hard.

Hyundai i30 CRDi (225/45 R17) on mostly motorways for 23,000 spirited miles
Have had these tyres on my car from new (20 months ago), I drive quickly but not aggressively and over a selection of road surfaces in southern Spain. They have now done around 38000 km (23000 miles) and the front ones are about t be replaced, not because they are worn out but because the poor surface on some of the roads has taken little "chunks" out of the tread. They are all well above the wear indicators and I expect the rears will probably last another 10k kms.

They have a really nice feel, they have never been, or felt like they needed, balancing until quite recently when I have been thinking they would benefit, but have decided to renew the fronts instead.

I will definitely replace with the same type again.

Given 80% while driving a Hyundai i20 (185/60 R15 H) on a combination of roads for 21,000 average miles
I have driven the Hankook optimo k415 for almost 40000km and the tyres show that only 1/2 the tread is used so far. This tyre is excellent in wet weather and hitting reasonably deep water puddles at 100km/h causes almost no aquaplaning.I recommend this tyre.

Well happy with them.

Given 54% while driving a Hyundai i30 (185/65 R15 H) on a combination of roads for 13,000 average miles
Factory fitted on 2010 i30.

Horribly noisy, uncomfortable, and quick wearing. Fronts were down to 2.5mm in 13000 miles. Noise and comfort would make the driver think the tyres were at 50psi. Horrendous when the temp is below 7C, worst summer tyres in the winter I've ever had, like driving on concrete in the winter.

Awful choice by Hyundai for a OE tyre - if I were buying another new car I'd go with the KIA C'eed that's basically the same car, but comes with Michelin tyres, the K415 is THAT bad.

Replaced with Hankook Optimo 4S which is a revelation - same grip in wet and dry, much quieter, much more comfortable, and should give better performance in the cold.

Given 73% while driving a Ford Focus MK1 (185/65 R15 R) on a combination of roads for 13,000 spirited miles
I had these on my 1.8tdi focus for 13k before I sold it, there was still maybe 2-4k worth tread left on the front and probably 10k on the rears.

I rotated the tyres front to rear after 9k, and they had a couple mm of legal tread left, the rears that went on the front had probably 7mm left. Plenty of driving left in them - I sold the car so I cannot tell you how long they lasted, but 13k of spirited driving, motorways, country roads etc... And they were holding up quite well.

I was pleased as these were a cheap tyre which were in all fairness very good. My slightly lower marks really reflect their poor handling in the wet. Granted they aren't a big tyre size, and I do tend to drive quickly... I did slide a good bit, but I could always tell when it was going to happen. They have very good dry grip, and had I not a better tyre to compare them to I might say dry: 9/10; wet 7/10, but I have Matador Hectorra 2 tyres on my new car, and they are incredible in the wet and dry.

Road noise is average... Compared to the matador these are loud, but compared to other tyres they are average or above average in this regard.

I recommend these tyres to anyone wanting good mileage out of a tyre, especially if they drive at a normal speed. Compare these to a set of Firestones (near twice the price) - the firestones wore out 2 times faster... I haven't tried the k715, but I might yet. Definitely a good tyre.

Given 77% while driving a Hyundai i20 (185/60 R15) on mostly motorways for 25 average miles
Honestly not had any other tyres fitted for reference. Managed to get 25k miles from the front pair and having swapped the rears to the front we've got another 12.5k from the original rear pair.

Most noise comes from the diesel engine rather than road noise so I'd happily buy again on that basis. Grip drops off noticeably as the tyres wear, but the handling to the i20 is such that you're never inclined to really push it.

Given 64% while driving a Hyundai i30 CRDi (205/55 R16 H) on mostly motorways for 17,500 average miles
These tyres were fitted to my Hyundai i30 1.6 CRDI from new and I've always found them to be rather noisy which has only become worse as they've worn down. I might get 20k out of the 2x fronts if I want to push the legal limit but will change them at 18-19k in the autumn for something with more tread for the winter. I fancy a set of Michelin Pilot Primacy HP's next.
