Rockstone Radial F105 Reviews - Page 2

Given 29% while driving a Vauxhall monaro (225/45 R17) on mostly motorways for 500 spirited miles
Had to buy these tyres in an emergency as a result of a blow out and only having a foam fix kit that would not do the job.
There's are budget tyres good for going on your gran's car who never goes over 30mph or drives in the wet.
Now for me they did offer some surprising grip off the line for my Vauxhall monaro but I did not have the bottle to push them in the corners but for the wet, OMG!!!! With or with out the traction control on they was like having wooden wheels on ice. These tyres are now off my car having done less than 500 mile (so if you want to buy them they are on eBay)
In short if you drive slow and careful all the time and price is the biggest factor for you there will probably make you happy. If you drive like you stole the car you will not be happy.

Given 20% while driving a Vauxhall Astra 1.3 cdti (215/50 R17 V) on a combination of roads for 25,000 average miles
I got 25000 painful miles out of these tyres so they last OK.
Grip is terrible in all conditions so you instantly drive much slower if you have any sense.

Given 20% while driving a Lexus LS400 (225/45 R17) on mostly motorways for 20,000 easy going miles
I just kerbed my recently acquired Lexus LS400 and damaged a front wheel and tyre, so decided that I would change both the fronts to keep them the same and had not been happy with them anyway. I THEN READ THE REPORTS AND S**T MYSELF! All the people above are right. Tyre squeal, aqua planing, bad braking, pot hole slamming, etc. I am not an agressive driver (difficult in an old mans LS400!)but Rockstones do not even stand up to moderate driving. If I was an insurance company I would be loading the premiums for anyone using these tyres. I ordered two Nokians and will now order two more for the rear before winter sets in. DON'T BUY THESE TYRES AND IF YOU HAVE THEM THEN CHANGE THEM AS SOON AS FUNDS ALLOW!

Given 64% while driving a Vauxhall Vectra (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 10,000 average miles
Right. Let's get one thing straight. These are BUDGET tyres. If you fit them to a Subaru Imprezza, you're a knob and you deserve everything you get. If you fit them to any other car and try and drive it like it's a Subaru Imprezza, you're a knob and you deserve everything you get. There are so many other factors that can affect handling - tyre pressures, suspension, road surface, weather conditions, temperature, driver ability and experience. A loss of control usually points to deficiencies in more than one of the above areas, not just the tyres. If you want to get from A to B without nearing the limits of traction on every corner, then they are perfectly adequate and at £89 for two big tyres, of course I'd buy them again.

Given 10% while driving a MINI (195/55 R16) on a combination of roads for 500 average miles
I recently bought a 3 year old Mini and was completely in love with it.....until it started raining! It had Michelin's on the front and Rockstone's on the back. The back end would go at very slow speeds and it terrifies me to go out in it now :( As soon as pay day comes they're going off!! Please don't buy these, they are truly dangerous!!!!

Given 29% while driving a Vauxhall Vectra SRI 1.9 (150) (215/50 R17) on a combination of roads for 10,000 average miles
As the review above........I'm getting rid of them. I've only got a pair on the back but I've never been so scared going round bends in the wet! Atrocious!!!

Given 14% while driving a Renault Clio 172 (205/45 R16) on a combination of roads for 6,000 spirited miles
HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!!! Quite simply, do NOT buy these under any circumstances. U would be better off buying some decent secondhand tyres, even if they don't have much tread left, because driving on these abominations will make u think that they're bald even when brand new!
Where to begin with the horrors that these are!? They squeal like a pig under ANY slightly hard cornering and they'll lose grip even on a scorching day where the bitumen is almost melting. They are truly SCARY in the wet and, although i'm not religious, i say a little prayer every time i go out with them in the wet. At 100kph in the wet, u feel like u are ice skating and that at any time, u might do a few out of control 360 spins and find the nearest hard object to become at one with.
They also wear out like your Mum's old cliches. I've had them for about 10000k's and they're already down to 30%, which is abysmal compared to the run i would get on even the softest Yokahomas. They crash quite hard on potholes and such and will chirp like a bird on acid at some of the lightest throttle inputs.
Basically the only good thing about these tyres is that they're cheap and look good. Which is great if u don't intend to go anywhere. The braking on these is the absolute worst i have ever had, and i've driven on cheap, nearly bald tyres that kick the arse of these scare-inducing products of Satan. If u love the thrill of not knowing when u might die on some wet roads in the near future, then these are your tyres! I'm a bloody good driver (done courses) and i wouldn't even wish these on my most hated enemy. Why? Because he might lose control and smash into about 20 cars before the stupid things stop him!! AVOID AVOID AVOID. (unless u like unexpected Tokyo style drifting when going around a corner)
