Started looking at online forums after a bad experience this weekend. Setting off from traffic lights on a 3 lane roundabout, dry conditions with damp road surface, noticed wheelspin whilst accelerating normally , started turning in to negotiate roundabout and car suddenly spun out, ended up facing the roundabout straddled across two lanes - if there had been any traffic nearby I would now be filling in an accident report!. Checked tyres, all pressures OK etc, parked up and watched several bikes getting round roundabout without incident so no diesel spills etc, I'm a 55 year old experienced driver so can only put this down to poor grip, tyres have only been on the car 2000 miles so are as new, normally only gets used in dry sunny weather, dry grip is good enough for my driving style - will now be buying a decent set of tyres, since I couldn't live with myself if my wife or one of my kids had an accident for the sake of a few hundred pounds worth of tyres. Only recently bought the car and one of its attractions was that the previous owner had just fitted a new set of tyres, with hindsight you don't buy top quality rubber for something up for sale , so lesson learnt.

Fuel usage went up by 0.5L per 100 miles when all 4 tyres fitted with these (previous tyres were a mixed group including Michelin/Kuhmo/Pirelli). Braking is very poor on wet country lanes - gives ABS a good workout. Also suffers from increasing tyre noise as they wear down. Front set lasted 20,000 miles and wore more at edges even though pressure remained correct, rear tyres still 4mm+ tread. Cheap, but suffered increased fuel use and higher wear, would go for a better brand in future.

This tyre was in a set of second hand alloys i put on my asta 1.6 sxi 2001.
I was more than happy with the levels of grip and feeling,
the ride was hard but only because of the low profile, I have changed to 45 and it is much better,
These tyres gave a nice sporty feel to my ageing astra,
I would buy again on a budget.

I wouldn't fit these to a wheelbarrow!

What upset me most is the guy who fitted them has a Celica himself!

These were on the back and the tail constantly slid out on bends at 30mph!

Cushions give better road feel.

I soon stripped all four tyres off and went for Vredestein SporTrac 3s all round.

Do not buy these tyres if you love your car. Buy them for someone you hate instead!

My new auto grip tires are excellent! My car rides like new with these tires.

Fitted on the front of a Peugeot 207 GT, no feedback from road at all, the steering was so light it was like driving on glass. Nearly crashed at under 45mph when cornering, front end just slid and nearly went into a ditch. Road was not even properly wet, just a bit of damp from the Lincolnshire fog.
Absoloutely horrible tyres, these were fitted by the dealer and had around 8mm of tread left on them, swopped them for a set of Falken 914 within 2 days which are a hundred times better in terms of feeling & inspiring confidence.

So its not just me then. I have bought all manner of cheap and medium range tyres over the last 30 years but have never experienced anything as bad as these. In the dry, fine, no real issues. But the slightest hint of dampness on the road and it feels like driving on ice. Back end is all over the place, even at low speeds. The tyres came with the car and look brand new but they won't be staying on much longer. Hate throwing away good money but better than throwing away my life. Please do not buy these tyres. They are more dangerous than driving on bald tyres and should be banned.

What is it with all the bad reviews about perfectly good tyres on this site?….. Then again am I surprised looking at modern drivers and the way they think and drive now, this is another tyre which I deem to be a good one and certainly doesn’t deserves the rating it currently has.

I’ve been running the Autogrip 205/40 on 17” rims on the front of my 1993 MR2 Turbo for the last 6 years, each tyre doing just under 60k miles before they are down to the markers but bearing in mind that my motor is a mid engine RWD so these tyres are under no real weight or stress but never the less they are very good.

I bought these because my budget was small at the time and I was looking for a cheap all weather tyre. I mount my own tyres so I really didn’t want to have to de-mount these in the summer months so these were a good option that could steer me in the right direction during the snow and summer seasons so I bought them, lol ok ok I did have the thinking “ok cheap tyres so they probably wont have mega grip and probably wont last long” but I couldn’t of been more wrong, in the last 6 years I taken these bad boys through some of the hardest winter conditions known to man and up and down snow laden hills that would make Everest look like a speed bump!! with no problems what so ever, they take corners well with out a hint of slip out and breaking performance is also brilliant in wet and snow conditions even under some spirited driving, I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve come off roundabout to joint carriage way’s in wet weather booting it and I didn’t even get a twitch out of the front end.

I’m retiring my 17” rims now and putting back on my stock Toyota 15” as my 17” lol are a little to hard a ride now “getting old” but I’m so impressed with these tyres that I’m reluctant to switch brands as I’m a creature of habit if something works I stick with it for as long a poss., it’s like the old saying goes “if it isn’t broke don’t fix it” so I’ve hunted the net for Autogrip F107 205/55 R15” and they make them! at a fraction of the price I paid for 17” which is good news for my pocket, just waiting for them to come and I’m set up for another 6 years of hardcore weather conditions!

All I can say is these tyres work for me.

Absolutely lethal pieces of rubber. Fitted to my ford focus and there darn right dangerous when slightly damp. Would advise to avoid at all cost. Going back to rain sports very shortly.

DO NOT BUY THESE TYRES THEY ARE LETHAL. I have these tyres fitted to my 2008 VW Passat & the slightest damp on the road feels like driving on sheet ice. These absolute rubbish tyres should be banned before they kill someone. Want to fit them to your car with your kids in the back? These tyres are coming off 1st thing tomorrow & back to Dunlop sp01 for me.

I'm not a fast driver but had these fitted on a Vauxhall insignia (255/35/20) and was scared to drive the car in the wet... I originally had them fitted to the front of the car and wheels would spin very easily in the wet, then had them moved to the rear (front wheel drive car) and on a number of occasions I had lost the back end on roundabouts at 10-15mph... scariest was on a winding a road where I loast the back end completely on a very shallow corner at about 40mph! Honestly these tyres are dangerous, I never write reviews but I really think that someone will lose there life because of these tyres!

Very noisy on motorway, AWFUL in the wet. Got these on a 170bhp BMW 320Ci when I bought it, need to change them, causes traction control easily on roundabouts at 15-20mph in wet... dangerous
