ProContactE are noisy tyre from Continental that constantly rumble into the ears of every occupant of the small Versa saloon car. It's not useful feedback, just annoying noise that's always present to interfere with conversation, or spoil the music you want to hear from the stereo. Tyre noise always present while the car is moving, louder on some road surfaces than others.
Through the steering wheel, these tyres feel sort of soggy as well, even on dry tarmac or concrete, whether cruising in a straight lane or sweeping around curves; in fairness they never actually slid off the road, they just felt soft and not precise at all. Yes, they were at the correct pressures recommended by Nissan. On soaking wet roads they seemed more inclined to wander or aquaplane/hydroplane than other tyres on other cars in similar conditions unless speed was reduced. This particular rental car had about 15k miles, with the front Continentals about half worn in comparison to the rear pair, suggesting only 30k miles of useful life if rotated. In the 21st century, there are much better, quieter, grippier tyres to choose than these.
