Are half of these reviewers extras in Tokyo Drift or something?
I've had these tyres on my car for just under a month and 500 miles, varying mixtures of roads and conditions, and the only time I've ever had a problem was when it was lashing down with rain in April and I mis-judged a corner - driver error, nothing to do with the tyres.
Not had a problem with the grip, felt a little 'greasy' when they were fresh on but once scrubbed in that was gone. Yes, they're not amazing in the wet - the clue's in the description, they're a SUMMER tyre. But as long as you actually drive properly and not like you're taking on Vin Diesel in his Mazda RX-7, then they act like a standard tyre.
Not had an issue with cracked sidewalls yet but as I said they've only been on for under a month. I'll keep an eye out on that.
The one downside I will conceed is the motorway noise. Not very pleasant, but the guys at Protyre did warn me that they're not the quietest before they fitted them, so at least I knew what to expect.
For a stop-gap, 'I'm pretty skint but need new hoops PDQ' tyre, they seem to do the job.
I'm not sure what everyone expects for the price - I got them for about 62.50 a corner, which it appears is about as 'budget' as you can get these days - it seems some people go from having Continentals and Bridgestones to these and wonder why the performance isn't as good.
