Methodology & Configuration
Scoring Process
  1. Collect Test Data: Gather results from professional tyre tests across multiple publications. Minimum 1 test(s) required.
  2. Normalize Positions: Convert test positions to percentile scores using exponential weighting (factor: 1.2).
  3. Apply Recency Weighting: More recent tests are weighted higher with a decay rate of 0.95.
  4. Incorporate User Reviews: Factor in user review data (minimum 5 reviews). Weight: 15%.
  5. Bayesian Smoothing: Apply Bayesian prior (score: 7, weight: 1.5) to prevent extreme scores with limited data.
  6. Calculate Final Score: Combine all components using normalization factor of 1.1. Max score with limited data: 9.5.

Can the winguard tyres withstand summer temperatures up to 35 degrees Celsius? Thanks

Yes, but they will be far out of their operating window and I would expect low levels of grip, especially in the wet.

Given 82% while driving a Honda CRV (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 6,000 average miles
Decided to fit these winter tyres for a trip to switzerland. Tested them in a very wet field before I left and was amazed how much better they gripped the the previous summer tyres. When I arived in switzerland the satnav took us over a snow covered mountain pass and despite stopping on a steep section when a car came the other way the tyres gripped almost as good as in the dry. Braking down the other side was also very confidence inspiring. The only issue i ever had was trying to set off uphill on sheet ice where chains would have helped. Also impressed with them at speed on the motorways in all conditions especially snow/slush/rain and particularly with how the car now deals with standing water in the UK. Quiet driving all round and good comfort and grip. All round very impressed with these for the price.

Given 49% while driving a Vauxhall Astra SRi (205/60 R16 H) on a combination of roads for 1,000 average miles
OK budget tyre for use under 4c.
Dry grip poor above 10c.
Snow grip better than a summer tyre, just.
Grip on ice average to poor.
Buy a mid range or premium tyre. If your looking for some decent winter performance.
I'm a little disappointed from their ice & snow performance.
