Truly phenomenal performance in snow, car drives as if the roads are just wet, no problems while all around me were slipping and sliding all over the place.
Performance in wet & dry is comparable to good quality summer tyres.
There is a lot more road noise, but it's a small price for being able to drive normally in the snowy conditions of Dec 2010 in the UK.

I drive mainly on Scottish B roads and I can say I am impressed with the performance of this tyre.
I fitted them mid-October and immediately found a much improved comfort (compared to the Pirelli P Zero I have in the summer) with maybe just a bit more rolling noise.

Handling in both dry and wet is fine for my style of driving. Wet braking is impressive: driving on a small country road in the Highlands (rain, -2°) I had to brake to avoid animals and the car just stopped like it was glued to the asphalt, ABS didn't even kick in.

Grip on snow and ice is terrific. Whether it's on 6 inches of fresh snow or on icy untreated roads (-20° at night), the car just keeps going without the slightest wheelspin.

I got these tyres just after the first flurry of snow here in the UK (Nov 2010) as I didn’t want to get caught out again like I did last year. At the time, I had Goodyear F1's during winter months, which gave really poor grip on snow and were dangerous on ice (as most summer tyres are). So this year, I decided to get some winter tyres. Reading all the reviews, I went for the Nokia WRG2's as they seemed to get good comments and also had good dry performance with a high speed rating. Here is my opinion on them.

On Dry Roads, (+7oC) they performed better than I thought they would by giving superb driver feedback, accuracy and good grip levels. They did feel a bit soft, but what do you expect as the compound is much softer than a summer tyre! Then, winter came to Britain.....

Along came snow then followed by-7oC so lots of ice (December 2010), in short: these tyres, never let me down. I was driving on roads that were sheet ice, I kid you not, you would have not walked on them! The thing you notice the most about these Nokian tyres, is the confidence they give you and the ability to drive on roads you wouldn’t have gone near with summer tyres on. They just have superb traction in snow and Ice compared to a summer tyre and I was able to drive up hills on untreated roads. In town, I saw many people sliding into parking spaces on flat ground, and there was me parking on a icy incline with no problems at all!

In Summary, as soon as it gets icy or snowy, these tyres give a really grip combined with good driver confidence and I highly recommend them for winter driving. Even if there is no snow and it just starts getting cold, you can feel them still working on the road where as summer tyres lose their performance. Equally, as soon as it gets a bit warm you will appreciate the dry qualities of this tyre, as their performance is not far short of a premium summer tyre with just a slightly softer feel. I will be buying these again and will have no worries what the weather brings, as these tyres seem to cope with all conditions UK weather throws at them. I realize they are a little expensive (mine were £40 extra a tyre compared with a summer tyre) but after fitting these, you will never drive with summer tyres on in winter again.

I put these tyres onto my AWD Ford Kuga about 3 weeks before the snow arrived in force. Running in was fine and I did this for the first 250 miles.
Slightly noisier than my previous tyres - Goodyear Excellence on some surfaces. Otherwise no difference in noise levels on Motorways and Dual Carriageways which is amazing for a tyre with such an aggressive tread... My Goodyears did not like White Lines but the Nokians just shrug them off.

In the snow these tyres have been a revelation though and comfortably dealt with shallow snow, deep snow, and slush. My work car park had around 2ft of snow and people with 2WD cars had to have pushing help in both parking and getting out again. I was able to park and drive out again with no slide whatsoever and no assistance. Able to use 1st gear as normal too in the snow which is a first. Stopping and starting generally greatly enhanced.
Going uphill in country lanes and passing car after car which was stuck or spinning really underscored just how effective these tyres really are. Sure the AWD played its part too but without the Nokians, I would not have had anywhere near the grip that I currently enjoy.
Looks as though Nokian will be my tyre brand going forward.

I bought a set of 4 Nokian WRG2 (185 65 R15) for my 05 Honda Civic recently after wearing out my factory all seasons. Put them on in Nov '10 just in time for winter. I reside in Edmonton,Alberta, Canada and the winters are anywhere between harsh to awful.

Truly astounded so far as to their performance. Great grip in soft or hard-packed snow. Great traction in slush. I find they tend to slip slightly on pure ice but do regain their traction pretty quick. Noise level is not an issue on cold dry roads either.

I drive 100-150 kms daily, mix of highway/city roads, and will now never go back to all seasons. I plan to drive these bad boys year round. Drove a Hyundai Santa Fe with all seasons recently and my Honda (with the disadvantage of being smaller,lighter,2WD) has much,much better traction than the Santa Fe with all seasons.

The WRG2 is not in the same category as Blizzak or Michelin-X but if you're sick of the white knuckle driving in winter with all seasons, WRG2 is a logical step up.

Just coming into my second winter with these. Compared to my previous set of winter tyres (Dunlop M3s), these aren't quite as good in the snow (of course, they're awesome in the snow compared to summer tyres...!) but are extremely good on both wet and dry cold roads. Wear rate is superb, I'm looking at 30,000 miles plus out of these, which is way more than my summers. MPG has also been consistently a couple of notches better. I ran these into May last year with no adverse effects - the all-season claim made for these tyres seems reasonable although you do sacrifice grip in warm&wet conditions so I'd be reluctant to run these through the summer. An excellent tyre, particularly for the uk, as they seem more balanced to dry/wet conditions rather than out-and-out snow and ice performance. Extremely good value too, considering also wear/fuel consumption. I'll definitely look to source these again when the current set wears out.

Fantastic, kept my stock Bridgestone Potenza (re050 iirc) on last winter and was mildly impressed with how well the car coped with the snow and slush.
Wanting to keep my nice alloys nice (and i needed two new front tyres anyway), this year I swapped to some 15" alloys and these WRG2's and i've been blown away with the difference.

It's not got stuck once, no matter what i've put it through

They really do inspire warranted confidence in the most treacherous of conditions.
They're as good as the Potenzas in the dry, much better in the wet, and unflappable in the snow and slush.
They're also quieter and mroe comfortable (though that may be partly down to going from 40 profile to 65)
Anyway, thumbs up from me.

I put a set of these on my Mini early november and was really surprised how quiet they were and how similar they felt to my Continetal SportContacts in the dry.

Once the snow fell they gave me a huge amount of confidence. No issues at all so far, good grip on packed snow, deep fresh snow, and outstanding braking. I would definitely recommend these tyres, good price, high speed rating, all the snow grip you need and summer handling. No complaints.

These tyres are astounding. Snow, ice and untreated roads are common where I live in North East Scotland and winter has been hard so far this year. The grip, traction and control these tyres offer is incredible and probably saved my life this week.

In the snow of Jan/Feb 2010 my car on 18in Continentals, my car was downright scary. Did the research, bought Audi A3 alloys for my car and VW steels(£30 for four new!)for my wifes Octavia. The difference in the current bad weather has been amazing. We are able to get to work with ease and feel really confident on the road. The VRS pulls away on snow with no wheel spin and without troubling the traction control, braking is similarly drama free. Have bored everyone with my "expert" advice, most have never heard of winter tyres. Will never be without in future.

I changed my car to a BMW this summer and having heard the horror stories from people who couldn't get off their drive last year because of the snow and ice, I decided to fit some winter tyres. I bought a second set of alloys off the internet and ordered the Nokian WRG2s for them.

I changed over to the ??winter setup?? during the 1st week of November, when the temperature dropped consistently below 7degC. My daily commute is 55miles each way and I can choose between motorway boredom or country lanes and the risk of getting stuck behind a tractor.

I opted for non-runflat tyres, unlike my normal summer ones (continental Sport Contact 2 SSR 225/45/17) as I didn't feel that there would be any benefit, a puncture in the snow would likely render them useless anyway.

With the recent bad weather in the UK (Living in Yorkshire ?? commuting to Darlington) I have been truly astounded by their performance in the snow/slush/ice. Even when I have had to clear the snow from above the door sills I have had no problems getting to and from work. I am sure mine is the only rear-wheel drive car that has left the estate since the snow arrived. Frequently during my daily commute I have driven past big 4x4s (Audi Q7, BMW X5) and small front wheel drive cars struggling to get up fairly shallow gradients.

I have recommended these tyres to several colleagues and think the initial outlay of ?540 for a second set of wheels with these tyres was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

I will update again in the spring to see how they wear ?? I will have driven ~8000 miles by then.

Last winter joined the ranks of 'joke' BMW drivers struggling with snow and sliding into the nearest gutter, before giving up and leaving the car under a pile of snow for a couple of weeks. Resolved to get some winter wheels fitted with Nokian WRG2s - which to be honest were one of the few options available in runflat this year (Vredstein decided not to make any Wintrac Xtreme runflats). These arrived and I swapped over just over a week before current snow.
What a revelation! Driving steadily is now drama-free, no wheel spin, the occasional flicker of the stability control - though to be honest less that with moderate acceleration in dry conditions. In short car is now dependable and used to ferry colleagues stranded with front wheel drive, and was even getting better grip than the Audi Q7 in front of me yesterday. Also worth remembering that it is not all about traction - braking is greatly superior and is worth remembering in traffic to avoid rear end collisions.
In terms of getting about the tyres meet all my expectations, however the bonus is that Rear Wheel Drive + snow + excellent grip - stability control = fun!! Now seeking out untreated roads and hoping snow lasts a little longer...
