Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 Reviews - Page 4

Given 93% while driving a Renault Twingo RS 133 Cup (205/40 R17 W) on mostly country roads for 6,000 spirited miles
Superb grip on twisty country roads (Hardly ever need to use the brakes to take a even the fastest bends)
Great wet & dry weather braking, much better stopping distance than the Nankang 'doughnuts' that were fitted to the car when I bought it.
I really like the 'Rim protection' sidewall ridge on these tyres too, especially when my wife borrows the car as she hasn't got a clue as to how near to the curb the wheels are when she's trying to park.
I would say my only gripe with the front set of Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2's I bought last year is they have only lasted for just over 6,000 miles, which is a little disappointing, but I suppose if Goodyear made them more durable, they would be no better than the very pretty, but totally useless, Nankang doughnuts that were fitted before.

Given 88% while driving a BMW 120d M sport (235/35 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 500 average miles
Bought these to replace all four Bridgestone Potenzas on my 120d M Sport and what a difference they make. Much quieter, ride comfort incredible for a RFT and great performance. Can't comment on wear rate yet but on first impression of this recent purchase these Goodyears are excellent.

Given 90% while driving a BMW 428i m sport coupe (225/45 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 20,000 average miles
Replaced all 4 worn Bridgestone Potenza A050 Runflats. Although the Bridgestone were a high quality tyre offering good levels of grip in both wet and dry conditions, with decent wear rates, they never inspired me with as much confidence as these Goodyear tyres, especially in wet conditions. The car feels lighter, rides much quieter and there is a huge increase in comfort. I initially experienced a softer, floatier feeling to the steering but the BMW F32 Series hasn't got the pin-sharp handling to match the sexy coupe looks anyway, even in M Sport trim. That's probably down to electro-mechanical steering! No more having to concentrate solely on avoiding potholes through fear of potentially causing damage to my suspension.. Or my back!
Changing to this conventional tyre has allowed me to reap more enjoyment out of my vehicle. It has made driving more pleasurable. I now tell people that my vehicle has BMW handling with a Mercedes-Benz ride quality.. All down to the Goodyear Eagle F1 AS2. If you are considering replacing all 4 Runflats on your BMW I can strongly recommend this tyre!!
Please ensure you adhere to the law in relation to safety protocols i.e. space-saver spare wheel or a can of tyre goo with tyre compressor.

Best tyres I ever put on a Golf MK5 GTI. They inspire confidence. I have put a few sets over the last couple of years. Wear is good and cost is on the high side but I'm a firm believer that tyres are cheaper than body panels. The wet and dry grip is outstanding.

Given 90% while driving a BMW 330i M SPORT SALOON (255/40 R18 W) on mostly town for 2,000 spirited miles
I have put the Goodyear Eagle F1 AS2 on a Lexus IS200, BMW330i and MB C200 Kompressor, and each time I would appreciate the levels of grip, comfort and road noise. On the Lexus it replaced Bridgestones to give me the quietest & comfortable ride I was looking for with masses of improved grip. On the BMW it replaced the standard fit Run Flats, the increase in comfort was night & day and a must for those running Run Flats although the trade off was less precision and feedback on the turn in, but grip was great. On the Mercedes C200, it was just massively comfortable. Overall I found the grip to be very good in wet & dry, ride is comfortable and quiet and the wear over a few years was very good. Hence I recommend these to everyone I know.

I also posted a review of the Sport Contact 6 which was pretty good but still contemplating using these or the new Goodyear AS3 next.

Given 61% while driving a Ford Mondeo (235/45 R17 W) on mostly motorways for 20,000 average miles
Sidewall crack all around the tyre appeared on one of my set of Goodyear eagle F1 AS2, when there are still 4mm tread depth, after 3 year on the road (tire manufactured in year 2013). If you google Goodyear Eagle sidewall crack you will see that there are lots of reported case of sidewall crack.

Had previously run with Goodyear because of good review, they were noisy on concrete motorway.

Had never had a puncture, and always inflating to recommended pressure. The sidewall crack came about causing a slow leak on the tyre. Now the Goodyears were all replaced with Avon tyres, immediately felt quieter and hopefully will last.

TOYOTA CELICA MK7 143bhp

Fit these around two years ago to replace some very worn Pirelli tyres on the front. They were exceptionally good in the beginning with great feedback and grip, even in the wet. The car drove like it was on rails and could be pushed.

The issue I have is that these tyres have worn much quicker than expected, which is a surprise on a relatively low-powered car. I only managed to get 8k from them before the grip and feel seemed to fall off a cliff.

The tyres are now less inspiring, wandering a lot and spinning up in dry or wet conditions - understeer is now a relatively common threat.

They were fantastic to begin with, but I'm ultimately disappointed in having to replace them after so little when other tyres have lasted much longer.
