These are a newly fitted tyres, so an aggresive denunciation would be premature, however, I feel I must comment on the rolling resistance of these tyres. Previously on my journey into work I could achieve nearly 60mpg with Continental tyres fitted, but on the same journey and in similar conditions I was hard pushed to see 50 mpg - I estimate this to be a 15 to 20% increase in fuel consumption! I do appreciate that there is a trade-off between grip and rolling resistance and these are early days, but this does seem excessive and potentially very costly. I am also aware that many factors can influence the fuel consumption of a car: tyre pressure, load, driving style etc and things might improve when the tyres have settled down and run-in. I would be very interested to know if anyone has experinced similar problems - perhaps I should check the mirror to see if I'm towing an expensive weight - caravan!
