  • Road: The Roadtec 02 aims to be a super-sport-touring tyre. At normal to brisk speeds, it feels more sluggish than its competitors, but it rewards sporty riding with good feedback, grip, and straight-line stability. However, this comes at the expense of agility. Noticeable pitch moment during braking.
Wet: On the wet handling track, the Metzeler Roadtec 02 delivers. Although it also prefers a wider arc, it offers excellent wet grip and a wide limit range. Plus, it achieves the shortest braking distance.
Wear: The Metzeler wears slightly above average and cannot differentiate itself from the competition here. The changes in handling characteristics from new to used remain manageable, making the Roadtec 02 a reliable companion.
Conclusion: A tyre with good straight-line stability. Particularly sporty riders will be able to explore its advantages. The wet grip is excellent. In everyday use, however, the sluggish handling is somewhat bothersome.

    Overall: Good..

Given 63% while driving a Honda CB650R (180/55 R17) on mostly country roads for 1,850 spirited miles
These tyre have fantastic dry grip. They transformed the way my bike handles and gave me so much more confidence. That’s where the positives end. The front tyre is super noisy. You probably won’t notice it if you have good hearing protection but I noticed it straight away when I put them on. Also the rear is already about half worn in the middle after just 3,000km. I thought these were supposed to be sport touring tyres with a harder centre tread? I don’t do any motorway riding. I live in Wanaka, New Zealand so all of my riding is on mountainous roads. I do commute to work and back which has some straight road and roundabouts but it’s only about 5km each way. My rear tyre has a big wide flat spot through the middle 1/3 of the tyre width and I’m down to about 2.5mm of tread in the middle measured at the wear bars. I have about 3.5-4mm left close towards the edges. I check my tyre pressure regularly with a Topeak digital gauge. I’m running 33/39 F/R. I ride a Honda CB650R. So yeah these tyres feel great but wear way faster than a sport touring tyre should. It needs harder rubber in the middle.
I’ve only ridden them once in the wet and I wasn’t going fast so I can’t comment on wet grip.

Given 94% while driving a BMW K1300R (190/55 R17) on mostly country roads for 3,100 average miles
The Roadtec 02 gave me a new bike with really good feeling, grip, comfort and quietness. My bike has a of lot power, 175 hp, and torque, 140 Nm so I was interested in how it would wear and after + 5.000 km = 3.100 miles there is still a round profile from side to side. The grip on curvy roads and spirited driving is very good and gives me a lot of trust, I have also noticed that they build up heat fast for good grip. When it is time for new tyres I will chose the same.

Changed from Roadsmart IV and Road 6 and they were noisy, hard, had bad feeling and tricky grip even on dry warm roads.
