Volkswagen (B8) 1.4 TSI (150 Hp) DSG ACT Tyre Review Highlights

Writing about the Pirelli Powergy given 81% (225-45-17-)
Driving on mostly country roads for 6 average miles
I bought these to replace Toyo TR1 on my Golf GTE. I chose them as they are the cheapest ‘famous brand’ tyre in this size. Better than the Toyo in grip, handling and only £7 each more. Had Michelin when I bought the car that were very nearly new, these are close to half the price of the Michelin and honestly nearly as good in normal day to day driving. Would buy again.

Driving on mostly country roads for 8000 average miles
I bought an Amarok with a brand new set. I have done 8,000 miles and reckon I will have to change the out at 11,000 miles if not sooner.

Driving on a combination of roads for 22000 average miles
Used on 1.5 ton sedan for about 35 000km/22 000 miles now. Note that the actual car is Renault Talisman but I selected Passat as closest thing available size/weight wise

PROS:
- dry feedback/handling - I can do way over speed limit outside of towns (glides through corners at 120km/h even now); you feel a pronounced 'edge' when turning at high speed feeling the limit
- master snow grip - went on not cleaned street and did sharp acceleration, braking, twitching steering wheel left-right; best I got was millllld understeer, VERY safe tire on snow
- wear - just passed my registration/inspection, they still feel 90% like they did when new, it's incredible. Visual inspection shows fronts a bit more worn (torque heavy diesel engine)
- with wear in mind, actually great value. Even though they were a bit more pricey initially, it all gets leveled with time

CONS:
- wet performance is great in straight line (aquaplaning etc.) but is average at best in sharp turns, I once understeered to an incoming lane at 35kph sharp corner during a rainy day
- CC2 went too far towards snow grip which makes it hard for me to recommend the current model

Driving on a combination of roads for 16 easy going miles
Very dangerous in the wet and I'm not a fast driver

Driving on track for 0 miles
It is a tire that appeals to the general public and can satisfy many people, but we cannot consider it completely good. When passing through a puddle, the vehicle becomes unstable. When cornering at high speed, the car leans sideways and moves out of the lane.

Writing about the Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen 3 given 80% (225-50-17-)
Driving on a combination of roads for 16000 average miles
The Vector 4 season Gen 3 are actually the perfect tyres for your car. I've drove these in most conditions and they've never failed me. The dry braking is probably a touch off the best but as the tyres wear (which they do slowly) that'll become better so you can evolve with the feel of them. In the wet these things come into their own no aquaplaning or braking issues. Even in snow they're terrific, that being said I did have traction light appear when going through really deep snow but the tyre was able to get me through this. Fuel wise I can't really speak about my car takes around 20 liters per week roughly 35 euro. I look after the tyre pressures putting 36 psi in all 4. For me it's the wear factor that makes these good value and the versatility that makes these the perfect all round tyre. You need to be on the correct tyre all the time and you will the Vector gen 3.

Writing about the Continental WinterContact TS 870 P given 98% (235-45-18-)
Driving on a combination of roads for 30000 average miles
I like the Continental WinterContact 870 P tires. I use them year-round, and they perform well overall. Their grip on ice is not as good as Nordic winter tires, but they still handle well when driven cautiously. They can handle southern Finland winters. I've driven 40000 km on them over two and a half years, and there's probably one more year left in them.

Driving on mostly country roads for 1000 miles
Very pleased with performance vs price for these tyres.
Having previously used premium and scary budget tyres these definitely perform toward the premium end of scale.
Although Taiwanese made these tyres are being used as oem by many manufacturers which confirms my experience.
Would definitely buy again.

Writing about the Petlas Velox Sport PT741 given 67% (235-40-18-)
Driving on a combination of roads for 26000 spirited miles
I have had these for 26k miles on a Mk7 GTI stage 2 tuned. They've been on a track precisely one time and never again. For an everyday spirited driver, they are very good tyres. Quiet, moderately grippy, decent handling. Cons are wet and cool temps. They take quite a while to warm up, and even then, the compound is too hard to Really take hold of a cool road. They Will hydroplane. The wear is like iron in comparison to Sport cup 4s. Still have nearly 5mm to wear indicators. Would recommend as a daily driver, but do not use for track days.

it was really nice, but on the hard snow, hill climbing is not really good, I am not sure about any other tires that can climb, all roads was good but I can park my to my home because it can't climb the %20-30 hill to my home
