Vredestein Ultrac Vorti+ and Vorti R+ - Launched

Vredestein Ultrac Vorti+Apollo Vredestein has launched updated versions of its Vredestein Ultrac Vorti+ and Vredestein Ultrac Vorti R+ tyres. They are high-performance summer tyres developed for use on powerful sports cars and premium crossovers and SUVs, and have a new construction and updated compounds to improve efficiency while still delivering the performance the tyres have become known for.

The tyres are designed for enthusiasts and more demanding driving situations, while style inspiration from well-regarded Italian auto design studio Giugiaro means they offer an elegant look.

Stiffer Shoulders and Sidewalls

Vredestein Ultrac Vorti R+ TreadBoth the Vorti+ and Vorti R+ UHP tyres welcome extra stiffness in the shoulders and sidewalls, while the bead area of the Vorti+ is 13% larger than before. The tyres each use new high-traction tread compounds to maximise grip and braking performance in both wet and dry conditions. These changes may seem incremental, but Vredestein says it all adds up to more precise and responsive cornering and a noticeable improvement in handling in dry conditions. That was the conclusion of internal testing on old and new Vredestein Ultrac Vorti+ tyres in the popular 245/45 R18 (Y) XL size.

Designed for very high speeds and fast cornering, the Vorti R+ should deliver predictable handling at the higher end of a sports car’s capabilities. Lots of grip and rapid direction changes are enabled by a mix of polymer and resin, and the apex base is ‘significantly’ larger as well.

Rolling resistance is reduced with the use of next-generation compounds, found in the carcass, apex area and around the rim. This should help not only fuel efficiency but the lifespan of the tyre as well.

Because they are constructed for performance vehicles, the new Vredestein Vorti+ and Vorti R+ are only available in large sizes. Vorti+ tyres can accommodate wheels between 18 and 22 inches in size, and the Vorti R+ comes in 19 to 21-inch sizes. There are versions for both rear- and all-wheel-drive models.

The tyres were debuted on a bespoke coach-built car that is an homage to the classic Ferrari ‘Breadvan’ racing car. Chosen for their aesthetic as much as their performance, the tyres on the car are 235/35 ZR20s on the front, and 285/30 ZR20s on the rear.
