255/65 16 Tyre Review Highlights

Maxxis Bravo AT771 rated 71% while driving a Land Rover Discovery 2
Driving on mostly motorways for 44000 average miles
An afforable AT tire (80% on road/20% off road) very soft and smooth on the street (the opposite of BFG KO2), ideally for city and with a lack of endurance for rocks. I used this tire in a Discovery 2 for about 8 years and I replaced those only for time of use, during this time I suffered 2 punctures and 1 cut, all off road. On the snow is very bad... but for the price, is a very good option

Goodyear Wrangler HP AllWeather rated 0% while driving a Land Rover Unknown
Driving on mostly country roads for 8000 spirited miles
Have used these tyres for some years on Range Rover P38 without any of the usual tram lining etc. A great allroun tyre at a sensible price.

Goodyear Wrangler HP AllWeather rated 74% while driving a Mercedes Benz ML
Driving on a combination of roads for 40000 average miles
I'm on my second set of these and they are good in the dry and wet, but they don't shine in the snow and ice. They get you through winter, though.Wear is good, they lasted 45k km, which in my experience with the ML is very good. Comfort is ok, noise is minimal. I will stick to them because it's the only premium tyre that won't break the bank that I find on my size.

Hankook Winter i cept evo2 SUV rated 84% while driving a Hyundai Terracan
Driving on a combination of roads for 3000 easy going miles
I bought these tires for my Hyundai Terracan. I only had All Season tires before, and driving in the winter wasn't so good when it snowed heavily, especially when it came to braking. These changed things significantly, as snow performance and snow braking are much better. Even in heavy snow I never had any problems, despite them not being designed for the off-road.

Dry performance is similar to that of the All Seasons, only in wet they are a bit lacking in feedback. Even so, they provide a good sense of safety. Comfort is also very good, there is no extra noise in the cabin. Apart from the feedback, the only other minor issue is some rolling resistance (subjective, not thoroughly tested), however I still recommend them, and I would buy again as the price was good.

General GRABBER AT2 rated 87% while driving a Hyundai Terracan
Driving on a combination of roads for 420000 average miles
Travelled 66000k's, pulled a van for 30000k's, roughly 85% highway and the balance dirt. They still have a few thousand k's left. Reasonably quiet and comfortable ride with good braking in all conditions. Will definately replace with same brand because of good preformance and reasonably god price.

Pirelli Scorpion ST rated 94% while driving a Opel Frontera 2.8td
Driving on a combination of roads for 2000 easy going miles
Amazing tires, ive had them for years now done over 25000 miles in them. Great grip in the dry and good grip in the wet. Ive also driven them in snow as they are all season tires and the grip was good but i would suggest a winter tyre for better resuls. Ive also been offroading and i drove them through mud and grass and rocky terrains and the performed beautifully. Not noisy and after 25000 the tyre thread is still really good. I would definately buy them again.

Dunlop Grandtrek AT2 rated 57% while driving a Vauxhall Unknown
Driving on a combination of roads for 8000 easy going miles
ive done around 7000 miles with these tires and i have to say im really dissapointed with Dunlop. I ve driven these tires in grass, mud, rain, snow and almost every possible conditions. I was told that they are all season but i will never buy them again. They have a good grip on rocky and dry terrain but have very little grip in the wet and almost no grip in snow and ice. i own a vauxhall frontera 2.8td and have had pirrelli all season tires which were absolutely amazing. I would only recommend them if you want to have the legal limit of mm of tread in the country you are because after 7000 miles they are like brand new.if you want tires for snow and ice i would suggest buying winter tires.

I had these on my Disco II as all year tyres, but ended up binning them after 14 months due to wear!

Dunlop Grandtrek ST30 rated 84% while driving a Hyundai Terracan
Driving on a combination of roads for 10000 average miles
I find it odd when a genuine on/off road tyre is fitted to an on road car as you get strange reviews. Mine are fitted to a Hyundai Terracan which does a mix of 60% on tarmac, 20% on fields and 20% off road.

This is what these tyres were designed for and they work well at a reasonable price. Was on Pirelli Scorpion STR's before which were marginally better on the motorway, but worse off road. Buy the tyres to suit the use, not what some dodgy garage sells you!!
