265/70 17 Tyre Review Highlights

Vredestein Pinza AT rated 72% while driving a Nissan 2023 Nissan Frontier SV 4x4
Driving on mostly motorways for 2000 average miles
I found these tires on Tire Rack and had them shipped to me/installed locally. Work in construction sales, so lots of highway travel (500+miles/week) with some intermittent off roading on jobsites. 4x4 is engaged a few times per month, so a good AT tire is important. Noise is noticeable from 15mph-30mph, then disappears. Grip and comfort have been outstanding. Living in the Southeast USA, I will likely not see much snow/ice to test them in. Tire wear should be decent, as they have a mileage warranty and I am neurotic about balance and alignment. Anyways. Would recommend. Also, they are somewhat lighter than competitors (in SL configuration) and that is a big plus for me. Do not want to add a bunch of unsprung weight, even to a "truck". Cheers.

Driving on mostly town for 23500 average miles
These tires have been a problem since the beginning. They have never balanced well. The tire machine will say OK for balance, but the ride quality is terrible. The steering wheel will shake around 60 mph and stop around 70 mph. I would NOT buy these again and don't recommend them to anyone.

Kelly Safari TSR rated 49% while driving a Ford F 150
Driving on mostly motorways for 5000 average miles
These tires came installed on a 2004 F150 that I recently purchased. Through work I have had the opportunity to drive on A/T tires from BF Goodrich, Toyo, Nokian, Goodyear and Sumitomo, and while the Kelly Safari TSR certainly tops other brands for price, it suffers in all other categories.

Their blocky tread pattern makes for some good traction on dirt and gravel (probably comparable to premium A/T tires) but there is quite a bit of feedback over bumps in the cab. Impacts are not well damped and I find myself slowing down more than necessary over bumps to avoid a sharp jolt. While I can't really comment on wear, I have seen some folks mention 30'000 miles before replacement was required.

At highway speeds there is quite a bit of audible road noise, and the steering feels moderately vague. On snow with 4WD engaged these tires seemed to have reasonable traction, but in 2WD the truck was a handful to keep under control.

I recommend you avoid these tires unless price is your absolute top priority.

Maxxis Bighorn MT762 rated 10% while driving a Ford F250
Driving on a combination of roads for 0 easy going miles
I was told by the tire salesman at lpanderson tire billings montana . These tire would be the best for the use I would be putting them through. Totally not true. By far the worst tire I have ever bought I've been driving for 40 plus years. I don't recommend them except for asphalt driving and not really even for that. Waste of money unless I bought 4 tires that had defects in every aspect of a tire. Waste of 1300.00 . I was lied too by the salesman. I don't know if I will go back there I have had good luck with 2 different sets of tires and will diffantly buy those types again. Just thought I would try some new type. Worst idea I've made.

I don't recommend this tires except for asphalt driving only. I live in montana and maybe the dirt snow ice and rain is different here than other places . But I don't recommend them and I will never buy them again . Unless there was a defect in the 4 tires I bought. I usually take my tires off in the spring and summer and put them back on when the snow flies. I didn't take them off and want to run them till there bald . Worst tire I ever bought.

BFGoodrich All Terrain TA KO2 rated 63% while driving a Mercedes Benz Sprinter Van
Driving on a combination of roads for 10000 easy going miles
No doubt these tyres are tough and last. They are good in gravel and sand and average in mud. Good for rock crawling although Ginny do too much of this in a 6m sprinter. However, wet handling was scary at times. Any wet white line or expansion joint caused a loss of traction and some scary moments. Wet braking on tarmac was also really poor. Sadly in the U.K. the choice of AT tyres is limited with most of the best not being imported….BUT if 80% plus of your time is on tarmac I would look elsewhere.

Dunlop Grandtrek AT20 rated 41% while driving a Toyota 4Runner
Driving on mostly town for 6000 average miles
The Dunlop Grandtrek AT20 came on my 4Runner TRD off road from the factory. The tires are decent on a dry Road and that's all. They are absolutely useless on anything but a dry warm road. Rain traction is terrible, snow traction is absolutely terrible as well as ice. I live in Las Vegas Nevada we don't get snow, however, we have a ski resort 30 minutes away and went up there during a snowstorm the other day and I was literally white knuckled the whole time because I was sliding all over the place in four wheel drive with two to three inches of snow. If you are never going to venture off of dry pavement these tires are fine. If you ever go in the rain, snow or ice do not get these tires.

Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3 rated 0% while driving a Toyota 4runner
Driving on a combination of roads for 7000 easy going miles
R3 SUV purchased Oct/21. We are mandated winter tires October 1 to April 30. I don’t care how they drive in rain, what they look like or how noisy they are all I care about is severe winter performance. These tires have poor lateral grip and braking and acceleration on hard compact snow is terrible. I don’t know if these tires were not cured properly or just a poor compound. They remind me of bias belt tires from the sixties. I cannot recommend these tires. I have been licensed for 60 years and have driven public transportation and motor coaches for 30 years, several smaller vehicles and motor cycles.
