305/30 21 Tyre Review Highlights

Continental SportContact 7 rated 93% while driving a Porsche TAYCAN
Driving on a combination of roads for 5000 spirited miles
Do not be fooled. This is the best UUHP tyre in the market at the moment. It is astonishing that a tyre can be so excellent in the dry and in the wet at the same time. Very high limits, very good braking, great balance, sporty and friendly at the same time. It really does not give away anything at all. Comfort level is very decent, noise is ok. But what has really blown me away is the wear. After obliterating a handful of Pirellis, my tyre abusing Taycan has finally met its match. In a sentence it is the best road tyre I have ever driven.

Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS rated 67% while driving a Porsche TAYCAN
Driving on track for 100 spirited miles
Fitted the Trofeo RS Elect on the Taycan GTS for a track day. Traction is IMMENSE. Braking is IMMENSE. Road feedback is absolutely fantastic. You immediately connect with the tyre and you can confidently push to the limit and beyond. All its performance characteristics in the dry are truly exceptional. Lap times did not seem to get affected much by heat, the car could consistently run consecutive laps of around the same time. Unfortunately though the Taycan is a tyre destroyer even when driven properly. The tyres gave up very quickly. Alignment was set at the very limit of the settings suggested by Porsche. A bit aggressive but within factory limits. Around 2,4 bar back & forth seems to be optimal for the Taycan even though I did not really have the time to figure out exactly what was right. Overall, a thrill ride but a very short one.

Continental SportContact 7 rated 94% while driving a Porsche TAYCAN
Driving on a combination of roads for 200 spirited miles
Replaced the OEM Pirelli PZ4 NF0. I had doubts for the longest of time, since the Taycan is really heavy and the OEM Pirelli is designed for this car with stiffer sidewall to handle this extra weight. Boy was I wrong. The SC7 is really spectacular with better steering feel, better braking, noticably better traction and a bit more progressive. It also understeers less than the Pirelli. The only thing I miss from the Pirelli is that super quick steering response, but the Continental is not that far off. Comfort is also better. Pretty much everything is better except for steering response. Impressive tyre.

Pirelli P Zero PZ4 rated 70% while driving a Porsche TAYCAN
Driving on a combination of roads for 1500 spirited miles
OEM tyre for the Taycan GTS. Quite a ride I had with these tyres. The Taycan is nothing to play with. It is a 600hp, 2,3 tone, elecric beast with instant torque. This NF0 version of the PZ4 can really hold its own ground against this car. Dry performance is excellent, you can pretty much do whatever you want to do. Traction is great, balance is great, steering is delightful even when you push really hard. Really love it. My only complaint is that it is a bit clumsy when it begins to slide. You get used to it through, it is not something really scary. Wet perfomance is equally good. A click below dry performance but very good overall. Comfort is kind of average, same goes for noise, it is actually a bit noisy. I really liked this tyre, until...I decided to try dry drifting. The tyre was literally torn to pieces after 4-5 minutes (not consecutive). Half the tyre was gone after this very short session. It really cannot handle it and I am quite surprised that it is approved by Porsche for OEM. Did the same thing with different tyre setup and it was just fine (considering the weight of the car). I bought a second pair right after and tried wet drifting this time. Same thing! Much less this time, but a few tyre blocks were once again detached. I now have a weird love and hate relatiosnhip with this tyre. Will not buy them again, even though I admire what they can do.
