5th of 7 tyres
  • Excellent wet handling, good levels of comfort, low levels of noise.
  • Average dry performance, subjectively it felt more like a touring tire than a UHP tire.
  • The Continental ExtremeContact DWS06 was very strong in the wet and had good levels of comfort, but had an average performance in the dry, feeling more like a comfort bias tire.

Mercedes Benz (245/35 R19) on mostly motorways for 6,500 average miles
It was officially imported in Japan a few years ago. Driving noise may be slightly louder than Pirelli pzero. Demonstrates a stable grip from low speeds to high speeds in fine weather. It was stable even when driving on the Fuji Speedway. This is the first tire that keeps hydroplaning away in the rain.

Given 67% while driving a BMW X1 2.0 Xdrive (225/45 R19) on a combination of roads for 20 average miles
These 225/45/19 Continental tires are not suitable for an X1. The comfort is basic and they are too stiff. The driving becomes too nervous. Very poor directional stability. The trajectory must be corrected regularly, even after having revised the alignment of the car. After 33,000 km, I have to replace them...
The original tires were Pirelli Cinturato P7. These tires are even worse. I had to replace them after only 21,000 km of discomfort.

Given 88% while driving a Audi A6 Avant 3.0 TDI Quattro (/55 R20) on a combination of roads for 1,000 spirited miles
Much quieter and more comfortable than the P0 Pirelli tires they replaced. The A6 Audi is a touring car for me, often in wet Seattle weather. No hydroplaning ever even at speed. Excellent stability and braking gives great confidence.

Given 70% while driving a Ford fusion (/45 R18) on a combination of roads for 0 spirited miles
Decent tire, however the wear and road noise was terrible...barley got 40000 miles out of them

Given 90% while driving a Honda Accord (245/45 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 15,000 spirited miles
Previously had a set of BFG Sport comp tires which handle fantastic in the dry, okay in the wet. They wore out after two years and made a racket when they got near the end of their life. To compare to BFGs the DWS06 does everything very well, there was a noticeable change in the responsiveness and overall dry handling isn't as sharp. However wet handling is superb and after a similar driving period of two years they hardly look worn, the W is still clearly visible. They're comfortable for most road conditions and I wouldn't consider them a loud tire, however again this was after the excessively loud BFGs. This was my first time buying a high performance all season tire, and so far have been pleasantly surprised.

Given 89% while driving a BMW 535d M Sport (275/35 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 25,000 spirited miles
Excellent all season tire. Lasted for 40 k Kms (UTQG 560) on my e60 535d (rear). OK grip in snow (first 20 k kms), excellent in dry and wet. Very impressed. Too bad Continental doesn’t offer DWS06 in the European market.

Given 89% while driving a Volvo S60 R AWD (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 41,500 spirited miles
Great tire for our Volvo S60 AWD T6. No real need for a winter tire in Toronto.

Given 64% while driving a Saab Automobile 9 5 Aero Saloon (225/45 R17) on mostly town for 1,000 average miles
I gave the tires a middle of the road rating for wear as they are new on my car and can't give them high or low marks.
These tires are ridiculously noisy. To the point that the hum can be felt through the steering wheel. So far, they also seem to adversely affect fuel mileage. Down 2 MPG compared to the Pirellis that came off.
