Davanti DX640 Reviews - Page 7

Given 70% while driving a MINI Cooper (205/45 R17) on mostly country roads for 6 spirited miles
I had fitted uni royal rainsport 3s to my wife's mini as the mitchelin run flats were uncomfortable noisy and slippery in the wet. Uniroyals much better in the wet and the ride and noise is so much better but at £350 a set not cheap. After my second puncture in as many months that can't be repaired I am peed off to say the least. I replaced the first with a uniroyal but my second the garage have recommended these Davanti dx640's. The garage say they are quieter than my tyres and as good in the wet. I wouldn't normally consider tyres I have never heard off but the garage are pushing them like mad so they either have a fantastic kickback from the company or they are good. The clincher for me is a puncture warranty on them! The drive back home in the dry was unremarkable. It's performing as well as my uniroyals but it wasn't that much cheaper. I only saved a fiver! Time will tell but I am amazed at the varying extremes of reviewers on these tyres. Brilliant or awful and not much in between. How can this be? How can they revolutionise the handling and grip for one person and be a widow maker in the rain for another? I don't understand but I'm going to give them a go and see. If it performs as well as the uniroyals I will certainly be buying more. I will review again when I have put some miles under my belt.

Given 96% while driving a Mercedes Benz S500 (255/45 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 2,500 average miles
had these tyres on now for 2500 miles and driven in both wet and dry conditions at speeds up to 95mph in my 2 ton Mercedes S500 S Class limo the tyres have proved to be excellent dry and wet grip at all speed up to my fastest never feeling anything but planted but then this is a heavy car so I am amazed that the wear is only 0.2 to 0.3mm max on these tyres. At he current wear rate (Pot Holes permitting) that is a projected 30,000 miles of wear or better from these tyres. These tyres are also very quiet compared with continentals I replaced

Given 47% while driving a Audi A4 2.0 TDI 140 SLine (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 2,000 average miles
Disappointed with these tyres to be honest, only on the car leases than 2000 miles and can't wait until they are worn off it. If I could afford to I would buy a different set. They ruined the handling of the car the car rolls on corners doesn't hold the road like the Bridgestone tyres previous.

Given 53% while driving a BMW X5 3.0d Sport (285/45 R19 V) on mostly town for 5,000 average miles
i bough 2 rear tyres, DX640 on the 25th Oct 2016, mileage 106,400 for my BMW x5. Seller stated that were good value and right for the vehicle. Having now done 112,000, less then 6,00 miles and a failed MOT for insufficient thread on both rear tyres beginning to question whether they are what the hype and reviews make them out to be. Certainly wont be purchasing any more in the future, definitely wont be recommending them either.

Given 41% while driving a Vauxhall Astra 1.9 cdti 150hp (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 8,000 spirited miles
Last Year we needed new tyres and we were told by our tyre dealer that Davanti tyres were as good as premium brands. The tyres were only £10 cheaper than a premium brand but we were took in by Davanti's own site reviews. What we didn't realise at the time is Davanti only allow reviews within 2 weeks of purchase and it suspiciously only lists 4 and 5 star reviews.

Anyway after a Year I thought I'd write an unbiased review of these terrible tyres that I will never buy or recommend to anyone.

I own a Astra H Sporthatch with a 200bhp 1.9 16v CDTI mapped engine, with 19" wheels using 235/35/19 tyres, and as you might know these cars suffer from crazily bad under steer. Other tyres (Avon ZZ5s) have struggled miserably with the under steer but these Davanti 640s are on another level of poorness. The grip on dry roads is quite good (but aren't they all) but in the wet they are pretty dangerous. Even some Primewell P900s that I bought when funds were low out perform these tyres and they were £50 a corner.

So to sum up.

If you always drive sensibly, have a car with a good chassis and never drive in the rain you might think that these are as good as premium tyres..... But if you drive 'spirited' every now and then, have a poor chassis and It's wet these tyres are absolute rubbish and do not warrant the nearly premium price.

Given 75% while driving a Mercedes Benz C250 2012 (225/45 R17) on mostly town for 0 average miles
Look the internet and you will find many posts from"boys", or "kid racers" telling of their sheer disgust that these tyres and not brand named.

Fools they are!

Just stuck a set of these on my 2012 E220 and am well impressed. My last set, pilot 2s did not have the same grip new! They also lasted only 13 months and 12000 miles!

I already predict longer mileage from these

Given 98% while driving a Mercedes Benz S500 (255/45 R18 W) on mostly town for 1,000 average miles
Had continental tyres on which these replaced and I cannot tell the difference from grip or braking as they feel the same however the tyres are far quieter and more comfortable and at less than half the continental price I am well pleased. Contis cost £226.50 EACH which is £906 per set, I just paid £360 for a set of Davanti DX640’s. OK so the tread depth is 7.2mm new not 8mm as the contis are, but for the price I can buy 2 sets and still have change. That is Vale for money not tyre snobbery.

Audi rs3 (235/35 R19 W) on a combination of roads for 1,500 average miles
These were fitted to an Audi RS3 i bought, an odd choice of tyre given the car, but I figured I'd try them as they were all brand new and surely they cant be that bad right? Wrong. They wont balance properly for love nor money, Audi have used a dynamic balancer and even replaced an alloy but still they wobble at speed. Low speed is fine, grip seems ok but in a quattro the car will be flattering the poor tyres somewhat. Feedback from the tyres is a little vague and as for exploring traction at 'the limits' then I'll pass thanks, they don't inspire confidence, I'm sure theyre fine on a low power average family car, don't bother on anything fast.
I gave it a shot, not for me I'm afraid. They will be coming off and getting replaced with some goodyear assymetric 3's. To sum up - you can't polish a turd.

Given 81% while driving a Peugeot 508 rxh estate (245/45 R18 W) on mostly country roads for 2,000 average miles
I recently fitted a set of four Davanti DX640 245/45/18W tyres to my Peugeot 508 RXH. My car is a hybrid with four wheel drive and has 200 Bhp. I have driven around 2000 miles so far mainly on Country roads. My previous tyres were Michelin Primacy 3, which are a premium brand tyre. I got a deal on the Davanti's paying only £308 fully fitted for all four tyres. There is an improvement in road noise and so far no noticeable difference between the premium Michelin and probably described at best as mid range Davanti's. I got 18k miles out of my Michellin's so only time will tell regarding the Davanti's. I did a lot of research prior to buying them. They are made in China and Chinese tyres often get bad press, which I am mindful of. This is an early honest review of a new tyre brand. I hope others find it useful.

Given 45% while driving a Nissan Primera (215/50 R17 W) on mostly country roads for 4,000 average miles
Fitted two of these to the front of my Nissan Primera Estate, was really impressed at how quiet they were for the first 1000 miles and the grip seemed good/standard but after that, even in only damp conditions I noticed the wheels were spinning when trying to move off (not even that hastily). I only had the same problem with the previous Avons when they were significantly worn and at the end of their life.
It doesn't happen all the time, but I have to be conscious about the fact I may not move as far as expected when pulling out of junctions in the wet...
In addition, sadly the quietness of these tyres was also short lived after only a few thousand miles.
Dry grip is fine and I've not had any handling issues on corners even in the wet, though I wouldn't say I drive madly.
Wouldn't buy again.
