2024 Auto Express Winter Tyre Test
7th of 7 tyres
  • The budget Goodride, priced at half the cost of premium brands, placed last in most tests. While better than non-winter tyres in snow, it placed sixth in snow tests with weak grip and steering feel. In wet testing, the gaps were significant - needing three metres more to stop than sixth place and over two seconds slower per lap. Dry braking required almost 4 metres more distance than the best. Only cabin noise scored well, with average rolling resistance results.

11th of 12 tyres
  • Very favorable price, good comfort.
  • Dangerous budget tire with significantly limited adhesion and little lateral guidance on snow and ice, unbalanced driving behavior, extended wet/dry braking distances.
  • Not recommended.

Top 3 Goodride SW608 Reviews

Given 36% while driving a Mercedes Benz CLK 270 CDI (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 6,000 average miles
Bought these in the hopes of positive reviews read on here. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THESE at all for anyone actually living in snowy climates, these would only make sense for people who get snow a few days a year and are on a budget. The DOTs were new, the rear ones were made in 2019 and front ones 2020. Grip on snow is almost non existant, if there was even the slightest hint of a hill you always had to think whether you have enough speed and momentum to get up the mountain. Grip on dry and wet condtions is okay - nothing to boast about, but will do the job for regular street cars. The front tires still look almost new, while the rear ones are almost non existent - less than 2mm of thread. (This is probably because of spirited driving/snow drifting, but something to consider still) Overall - buy only if you get snow a couple of days in a year and are on a budget!

So. After 6000 miles time to change! The worst tyres that I have!

I bought a used set of these tires on rims fore winter use on my Fiesta. The wheels were purchased originally for a Focus. I paid 40% of the cost of new and these had only been used for one winter. My original thougts after using them in the snow was that they were acceptable but I wouldn't push them to the limit, as they are still no where near as good as the better tires. This will be my third winetr with them, but I will replace them next winetr for a much better quality winter tire, as these are sounded noisy on the road now and certainly do not grip as well as the better tires.

Given 78% while driving a Ford Fiesta ST180 (205/40 R17) on a combination of roads for 6,200 spirited miles
Needed urgently to buys some winter tires is this rare size, there was only 3-5 options, so choose the cheapest ones, and it was those tires. And I was very surprised, brand new they got much more grip on wet and dry then my summers Barum bravuris 3hm. Then come the winter, still no issues, very good handling and grip. A bit worse when outer temperature go over +7C, with my driving style it start to slide a bit in corners. It is my second winter season on them, definitely going to buy them again, for such money I got more then I expected and in fully satisfy my needs. Negative is maybe treadwear, new one got 7.7mm, now on almost end of second season aprox 5-6mm left.

Garbage winter tires. Less than 500km on tires and I can't drive up a steep hill.

Given 76% while driving a Opel Vivaro (215/65 R16) on a combination of roads for 22,000 average miles
Got these on business van and they were fitted true whole year. In start I was very sceptical but later on I was pleasantly surprised. Dry and wet grip is good, but they are very noisy on motorway. Cornering and wear is also good, even in hot summer days. Excellent value for money but don't except miracles from this tyre. If you are on a budget or have an older car, this is a tyre for you.

I bought the Goodride for my city car Fiat 500. On dry conditions in temperature below 0° in emergency breaking they were excellent. In wet snow without any problems. The noise is a bit louder than summer tires i use (Continental)

I don’t normally buy cheap Chinese tyres but they were a very good price (with set of steel rims) so took a punt. Excellent value for money and a good tyre – quiet, comfortable, economical and general grip in dry, wet and snow in particular very good.
