The Hankook Ventus S1 evo 3 is the logical continuation of the success story of Hankook’s Ultra-High Performance tyres. Like the S1 Evo 2, it offers a very safe and sporting-yet-comfortable driving experience in both dry and wet conditions. The latest member of the Hankook Ventus family, which celebrated its market launch back in 1994, sets a new focus, in particular in the area of environmental protection and resource conservation.

Questions and Answers for the Hankook Ventus S1 evo 3

2019-04-01 - Anyone knows, if this tyre will come at 255/55R19 size? So far I can't find it at that size.

It is likely the SUV version of the EVO 3 will be produced in this size soon.

2021-07-24 - Does the ventus S1 evo3 k127 have the rim protection?

In the sizes I've tested it does not, however I expect it to have rim protection in certain large wheel sizes.

The Hankook Ventus S1 evo3 usually starts around 7.8mm, though there can be variation depending on tyre size.


2022-01-29 - Already been answered but have any of there evo 3 k127s have rim protection as of 2022? And are these tyres rated as XL tyres?

Rim protection varies by size, as does the XL rating. Your tyre retailer should be able to help tell you which is XL.


2023-02-20 - Hello my car is with 245/45/18 and I’m thinking what to buy normal evo 3 C/A/72 or evo with * for bmw and A/A/70 my car is Citroen c5 2012 is not bmw but this stats is better

In your case I would stick with the aftermarket version of the tyre, the * marked version of the evo3 will be tuned to work with the BMW platform, and even if the label doesn't show a reduction in wet grip for braking, it is likely to be worse in wet handling.

Given 73% while driving a Mazda 3 2.2D 150 (215/45 R18 W) on a combination of roads for 19,000 spirited miles
Fitted a set of these to my Mazda3 Sport Nav. I’ve always been a fan of Hankook tyres but have had various on different cars, Michelin to Budget.

First thing you notice with these tyres is just how much they improve the ride. The car had stock Dunlop Sport Maxx TT tyres and whilst these gave a sharper steering feel you felt every little ripple in the road. The Hankooks certainly smoothed things out, with only a small trade off in steering feel. Next is the grip. In both wet and dry I’ve been known to do some pretty stupid things, but I’ve yet to trigger the ABS or lose grip with these tyres. They grip and go. Aqua planing isn’t any more of an issue than any other wider tyre.

Downside to this tyre is wear - front tyres down to 2mm after just 19k but expected with a 2.2d fwd car. Even then no noticeable loss in grip. Regarding noise it seemed quieter when I first put the tyres on, however these Mazda3’s aren’t the quietest and there is a lot of road noise coming through. Unsure if this is the tyre itself or the actual car, but on a previous vehicle (Seat Ibiza) I noticed a similar intermittent droning noise when switching from the Ventus V12 Evo to the Ventus V12 Evo2. Will be trying the Michelin PS4 now that it’s available in this size, as had on an A3 S Line Saloon, found I got around 30k on the front tyres and they’re only £10 per tyre more.

Fitted as standard to Audi S3, I was bit worried as never considered the brand before but to my surprise the tyres have good grip wet and dry, reasonably quiet and been 11000 miles and still 4mm tread. I have had various tyres before Pirelli, Dunlop and Michelins and the Hankooks come out as good if not better than more expensive tyres. ....would have no hesitation buying again.

Keep skidding when slightly accelerate even on dry road when install at rear, after swapping with front michelin primacy 3st DOT18 has better grip than new tyre, anyone knows what happen?

Given 70% while driving a Tesla Model 3 LR (235/40 R19) on mostly motorways for 43,500 average miles
Had these tire's fitted as stock from Tesla and they have been really good reliable tires. I don't have anything to compare them to on the Model 3, dry grip has been excellent but I have experienced times on wet roads where the cars stabilization control has taken over. Not sure if this is just an over aggressive stabilization control on the car though. The most impressive thing on this tire is the tread wear, it's just reached 70,000KM and there is still some treadwear left on them, I reckon they can go for another 5,000KM but given their age (5 years), I will get them replaced. Thank you Hankook for a safe 70,000KM's.

Given 69% while driving a Volkswagen Mk8 GTI (235/30 R19) on mostly town for 21,000 spirited miles
So far, I love this tire. I think it has fairly decent dry grip, especially near end of life as the tread has worn down and it gets closer to slick. I haven't tracked the tire, so no extreme heat, but it breaks traction fairly slowly and is predictable near the limit. The tire has also worn well, 20k out of a tire like this given my driving style is fairly impressive. It grips up progressively after a slide, so no snappiness. I do wish it had more feel in the steering though, however I can't tell if thats the racks fault or the tires fault given that this is my first set of tires on the car. I would get again, but keep in mind the prices are fairly close to a Pilot Super Sport (Star BMW) or a Pilot Super Sport 4S, and that tire is probably a better performer in every regard and lasts approximately as long as the Hankook.

Given 79% while driving a Buick Regal (245/35 R20) on mostly town for 28,000 average miles
Super tyres in wet and dry . i have them on 20 inch rims and they are still comfy to ride . The only complain i have is that they start having dry cracks before they are worn out . The car inspection said they have to be replaced at the next inspection next year . So its a bit sad i have to put new tires on before they met the minimum marker . But its not that bad . they would maybe last 1 more extra year . But i wont buy them again because if this problem . they lasted 4.5 years and about 28.000 miles .

I bought a Maserati Granturismo 4.7 second hand and I found these tyres on my car, maybe they are not design to handle many HP, I don't feel much control if I push on the gas either with the electronic control the traction is not so good, I have to push very gentle, because of this lack of confidence I can't say too much, I will replace asap with something with more grip. I never try on the wet because if on the dry is not so good I can't imagine what has to be on the wet.

Used on Skoda Kodiaq. I do 900k's a week and clocked up 65k's on these and rotated twice. awesome wear. Used over 2 winters and no slips whats so ever on the twisty roads I drive. Highly recommended. Swapped over from the Continentals on car and would have replaced with them but they were twice the price. can't compare the two as swapped out nearly wore continentals at around 40k's.

Given 87% while driving a Ford Fiesta ST Line 140 (205/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 10,000 spirited miles
Bought a set of these to replace the old Michelin PS4's. Knew they would be good, but they have surprised me with just how good they have been overall. Dry grip is great, wet grip is very good too. I drive a lot of miles on mixed roads, and the tyres are the perfect all rounder being excellent on the twisty stuff but also unbelievably comfortable on the motorway, much more so than the Michelin's were. They are wearing quite well too, with my garage estimating them to last around 25k miles by time they need changed again. Overall very happy.

Grip in both dry and wet is simply amazing. Steering response and precision are not great, and that is putting it mildly, both of those are due to a very soft side wall, but you will have a hard time finding a tire that grips more than the evo3 (when the steerig lock is big enough to make it grip). Inspite of the lackluster responsivenes and feedback, it is really easy to drive at the limit as the tire is very forgiving to driver errors.

While the wet grip is very good, the tire does tend to aquaplane a lot sooner than similar tires from other manufacturers. This is probably the quietest tire I have ever driven. Somehow this tire eats up smaller bumps as if you are riding on air, but is terrible at handling bigger bumps. So far I also observed a surprising resistance to punctures displayed by this tire, but this seems to be one of the most often overlooked achievements of most premium manufacturers in the last 10 years.

Changed my P Zeros to a cheaper brand and brought Hankook for my BMW X3 and i was very surprised , the drive was smooth and road handing very good but i don't drive fast in the wet, and they are very quite as well when on the motorway . The last lost of tyres were nearly £1k and these were £766 and to be fair what a great buy, not had them long enough to judge the road wear but the Pirellis in my opinion wore very quickly especially at the front .

It is really strange that Hankook markets this tire as a performance tire. Regardless of wet or dry ground, pure adhesion level is very high, car just grips and goes, no need for heat to build up to grip whatsoever but the steering is so indirect and numb that even my old cheap brand winter tires feel much responsive and more sensitive, especially in terms of on center feel. And you'll always need an extra small correction after first initial turn in command, it is that numb. On the other hand it is by far the most comfortable tyre i had, it literally takes the ride quality of the car two steps up, especially in potholes. Great tyre for the price but just don't think it as a sporty performance tyre.

Bought a full set for my 328i touring in July 2023. I've now covered 23,000 miles with them and will definitely be buying again shortly as they are getting close to the wear markers.
The tyres felt great in dry and wet conditions. Even when driving during the cold, wet winter mornings the tyres have given a suprising amount of traction in corners and roundabouts. When I think they are about to let go they keep on holding to the road giving a lot of confidence and feel for the car.
More than happy with the durability of the tyres. Regularly recommend the tyres to friends and colleagues.

Given 80% while driving a Volkswagen Passat B8 Estate 2.0TFSI 280hp (235/40 R19) on mostly motorways for 19,000 average miles
Initial dry grip was fantastic. Very grippy with quick pointy turn-in. As they've worn the dry grip has suffered a moderate loss. They don't allow as much load when turning fast and tight as they used to.

Wet grip amazingly hasn't seemed to have deteriorated at all. Has always had more grip than was expected. Especially later in the wear cycle.

The wear has been better than expected. 19,000mi and still a decent amount of tread left. I was expectiong them to require replacement at approximately the 13,000mi range.

Comfort levels have remained at a high level. Tyre noise has gone up slightly as the tyres have aged but less than expected also.

OEM for the i4e40. The tyre has very obvious priorities. Rolling resistance and noise. It really excels in these two areas. But thankfully it is not useless in all other key aspects. Dry, wet, braking, feedback, they are all ok. Not great, but not mediocre either. Great choice for this car, but I will choose something better for the next round, even if I give away a couple of dozen miles of range
