Given 32% while driving a Renault Megane (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 500 average miles
These were on the Megane when I bought it. Terrible tyre. I've always used premium tyres and the poor quality shows. The car rides terribly and give no feedback. In the current frosts and icy roads I feel lucky when I reach my destination. The car drove well when on continentals, we owned the car previously and it came back to us with these fitted, brand new tyres covered 500 miles.

A budget tyre is great for the summer, these were fine. As winter is now here, time to ditch them before they ditch me. They are like any other budget tyre in the wet, shocking! Low speeds these would slide on a roundabout on certain asphalt surfaces. No confidence in them what so ever. I guess if you have a set of winters on during the colder months, these would be fine for summer. Also I could get 3rd and sometimes 4th gear wheel spins in these in the wet from a 2.0 tdi VRS,That's how bad they are!

I recently bought an A4 160bhp, landsail's were fitted on all 4 wheels they are quite new. I had never heard of Landsail before so I was rather concerned. The first 2 months the weather was dry and I must say the tyres performed well. Last week a school girl stepped in front of me from behind a bus the car stopped instantly with only a slight screech ( obviously the cars technology had a hand in this). I am afraid now the rain has come it is a different story, Pulling away the tyres spin more than I have ever known and going around an island the front tyres loose traction even at average speed. I have lost traction from the rear before pushing the car a bit hard but never lost traction on the front first.
I worked for the Dunlop for 16 years and BMW for 13 years and have driven Audi's for 20+ years so I know about performance. I have ordered 2 new DUNLOP 225/50R17 94Y SPORTMAXX RT MFS for the front as safety is more important. I will leave the back ones for now and see how the two sets perform together, but I will change them as soon as I can afford it.

Very good cheap budget tyre. My car a Skoda Superb 2.5 V6 Auto came with these fitted and i have no issues whatsoever with them.

Exactly the same problem as the previous review on the Audi. Purchased the car a year ago and had new landsails on the rear wheels, allright in the dry but in the wet they easily lose grip when cornering even going round a roundabout at a low speed. Ive had a few occasions where I have actually been saved by the auto correction breaking to prevent skidding, if I didn’t have that im certain I would have spun the car by now. Im happy to use the remaining lifetime up as I now know the limits well (they do wear well) but I certainly won't be going for these again.

Verdict = "Landslide"

These came fitted as new on the rear of a car I recently purchased. Theyre alright in general, no issues around noise, ride or wear. However, I have found they make the car particularly tail happy, even in the dry. I thought this may have been because the tyre hadnt bedded in, but a few thousand miles later and they are still the same.

I'm not talking about when driving quickly, they just tend to randomly start letting go on low speed roundabouts or bends. It's quite unpredictable.

Given 71% while driving a Land Rover freelander (215/65 R16 T) on mostly country roads for 5,000 average miles
I imagined these were a cheap alternative fitted to the car when I bought it, and as it was a Freelander MK1 with the viscous coupling decided to match exactly. They were difficult to source but in fact after 5000 miles I am pleasantly surprised. In a Freelander one is hardly charging about but so far there is nothing nasty I have identified. The wear looks uniform, they are quiet and comfortable at 30 psi.

Given 81% while driving a Peugeot 406 (195/70 R15) on a combination of roads for 2,500 average miles
I bought a Peugeot 406 estate with a 2.1 turbo diesel engine from people in Wales. It was bought unseen (apart from a photo) on that well known but slightly infamous website. Oh dear! The front tyres were down to the tread-wear-indicators and would probably be illegal after a few hundred more miles. Basically the car had been run into the ground. (the brakes pads were almost finished as well) Considering the type of car it was an economical solution was going to be needed. I looked at part-worn tyres but some of them were hardly any better than what was on the car so not worth messing with. Some tyre fitters in Cardiff wanted over £70 per tyre but I found a good tyre fitters in Penarth Road that would fit new tyres and balance the wheels for less than £80! The rubber seems a bit soft so a high mileage was not going to be expected but so far the tyres are doing OK. I live in North Cornwall so a trip to London or the Midlands is a fair old run. So far I have not had any skidding at all which is more than can be said of the Peugeot 405 which can lock its wheels easily on wet greasy roads (the 405 has tyres of rather hard rubber and it has no ABS!) Some log book troubles have however caused the temporary retirement of the 406 which has been extremely annoying. As to the Land Sail tyres I find them excellent value for money.

Given 71% while driving a Jaguar XJR (250/45 R18) on a combination of roads for 0 spirited miles
There were two of these tyres on the back of my Jaguar XJR when I bought it, at first I was a bit sceptical but as the time has passed I have found them to be pretty good, my Jag pushes out 400bhp and 400lb/ft of torque and so far they have coped and kept me on the road, however I've never tried them on the front of the car so cant comment on how they would steer, but I'd certainly give them a go at £70 a corner.
