never got chance to test them properly as they have died at age 5 months 12k on them at most.
the rears are scalloped , front are ripped and cracked bits falling off them.
I don't think maxxis should be making car tyres, truck tyres now that just scary.
they are very noisy , in the wet suffer from aqua plaining , snow that scared the hell out me avoid them

put these on my mondeo titanium x not really knowing how they would handle but ive not been disappointed in them only slight understeer in the snow but I think most tyres do that in the snow.with towing a caravan aswel was unsure how it would handle doing my first run of 200 miles ive already got myself book for another set when they are needed wont be buying expensive tyres again that's for sure good all rounders

Bought having read a test where these came first in wet handling and wet braking beating pirelli, continental and dunlop.
I can see why, great grip levels, had yokohama parada spec 2 tyres before and in the dry can't notice any difference but in the wet these are different class.

As I have mentioned in my other reviews, of the other Maxxis models I have purchased and used, there is no complaint, just appreciation. I believe this kind of asian manufacturers are starting to shake the old concept of "better price, better quality", as their sales do not have to support, as well, a multinational holding, with specific losses.

From my point of view, this was my 3rd purchase of full Maxxis sets of tires and I will continue to buy more.

I would not pay, again, double, for "top brands", as I personally do not perceive any quality improvement over price raise.

However, keep in mind it is just my personal opinion (I know it sounds like an advertorial).

Fitted these on my 2008 renault grand espace. Living in rural Norway, they are used on pretty windy b-grade roads for the most part and we get a lot of rain in the 'summers'.
Firstly, they look great, which is always a bonus. As to performance and handling, well a renault diesel espace is not a sports car, but it is big and heavy and on standard wheels is very prone to understeer.
We have had these on now for 3 summers and covered many km's on both windy Norwegian roads as well as some European motorways.
They have been great in regards to wear, especially considering how cambered the roads are here and how the roads are worn with 'tracks' from the trucks and spiked winter tyres.
On the motorway they were excellent, with no roar or howl and at low speeds the road noise is pretty much the same as the standard items.
In the wet they have transformed the car. They are brilliant and throwing away the water and keeping the car firmly planted on the roads as well as being excellent in braking situations (we need to be able to stop quickly due to blind corners and narrow roads here).
In regards to how the car handles and feedback, well we have a lot of tight corners, many off camber and with various surfaces and in all situations they have inspired confidence and provided levels of grip that are rather suprising considering the type of car they are on.
They have worn well and only the fronts need replacing. Evenly worn and I will put that down to road surfaces and heavy diesel engine.
Definately reccomend, especially for these types of vehicles as most other tyres we have tried wear poorly, especially on the edges.

I researched quite a bit before deciding on these maxxis MAZ1 tyres and im pleased i did, i noticed that they are getting better reviews than everything else in the same price range and i now know why, i replaced 2 dreadful and dangerous no brand tyres on my fiesta zetec s and straight away the car feels steady and gives you confidence in the bends, even in the wet.
don't waste money on premium tyres until you've tried these!
i will re post when they are worn down as i have just had them fitted.

I have a Jaguar XK8 4.2 and did some research into these tyres. I'm really glad I did! Once you've taken off the slippery film protecting the tyres for storage (I just turned off the traction control and did a wheel spin which did the trick) the grip was excellent. I live 100 miles from my office which is a combination of motorways and back roads so they have to cope with a lot of different road surfaces and conditions. I've only done approx 1000 miles so far, but in that time they've been in all conditions from torrential rain to lovely dry roads. Even under heavy acceleration on wet B roads in poor condition they still remained in control providing feedback. Even with the traction control off they inspire confidence and you can feel when they are about to break away. I chose these as in the past on previous cars I used the GoodYear Eagle F1 GS-D3 which was fantastic and this tyre having a similar treat pattern I thought would be good in the wet. From what I’ve seen so far this is definitely the case. The most impressive thing is these tyres fitted were only £150 each compared to up to £300 for other premium brands. I’m really struggling to see the reason for paying the extra. Fantastic road holding, excellent water clearance which is important for a wide low profile tyre and quiet at high motorway speeds. I have Michelin Pilots on the front, when these are worn I’ll be replacing them with Maxxis’. Excellent value for money and I believe there is also newer version out called “MA Z1 Drift” which are even better.

I drive a 300bhp front wheel drive 850 T5 so a good set of tyres are really important to me, I like to drive fast and feel totally confident with the rubber I'm using. Having tried other tyres such as some Avon sports tyres and a few other decent tyres I was advised to try the Maxxis MA-z1's and I'm happy I did !!, the first roundabout I pushed them on left me with a huge smile they gripped like hell !!, they a reasonably comfortable and I haven't noticed any real roadnoise. The tread pattern looks awesome for those who like a good looking tyre. They actually put the power down better than my previous tyres did despite traction being broke in the dry in second but all in all they are handling s rather larey car very well. Recommended.

When the tyre mechanic suggested I try these tyres saying that they were as good as any premium brand, I was sceptical. They were cheap though so I gave them a go and was very surprised by their performance. I have a lot of motor racing experience and my car is 5.7L, rear wheel drive with 400bhp+ and I drive very hard with speeds up to 250km/h at times. I really can't fault these tyres, in the dry their grip is excellent but I think they are even better in the wet, just amazing. Quite a few all wheel drive performance cars have been left behind in the wet and these tyres just inspire confidence to keep pushing harder. They are very predicable at the limit as well. The only bad point is that they get a bit noisy as they wear out and there durability is around average. Overall, the best value for money performance tyre on the market and I've tried a few.

Found these tyres an absolute horror compared to proxes and michelins.
They wore almost twice as fast as anything else i had ever had.
On country roads i had very very little faith in these i felt very little grip on spirited driving from day one.

Yes the Irish roads are bad but these tyres made it twice as hard on a bad wet day

Wouldnt advise these to anybody with a semi performance car

Just put a full set of these on my 07 MX5 1.8. Did about 300 miles on them before setting off for a weeks holiday touring Scotland. This invloved about 1200 miles on a mix of Motorway and very testing fast A and B roads and both dry and wet conditions.
The tyres performed perfectly and gave me increasing confidence in their ability. They certainly dont feel like 'cheap' tyres. The only slight negative is that there is slightly more road noise but only slightly and can almost not be heard above the noise of the car anyway.
As my background as a driver, i've probably covered between 900k and 1 million miles in the 40 years I've been driving. I am a member of the IAM and have driven in my time Formula Fords & Rally Cars off road and everything from a Ferrari to 7.5 tonners on road.

Update to previous review.

I rescently fitted another full set of these as I was so delighted with the last set. However I got another pleasant surprise!
The two fronts still had some life in them but the rears were done. However the car failed its first MOT because of one of the fronts had a small bulge in the side wall! I was a bit confused by this utill I remembered that I hit a curb in a car park hard (was not paying attention) I got out of the car to see what I had done to my wheel to find there was not a mark on it! The tyre had taken the full impact but it must have damaged the side wall in the process.
When I went to get the new set, the dealer said that all MAXXIS tyres have a life time guarantee and as there was still 40% usable life on that tyre he was going to take 40% off one of the new ones! Outstanding MAXXIS! Even bigger fan now.
Just one thing though, I was getting some new tyres for my mountain bike and saw MAXXIS in the shop so thought I'll have a set of these. But to my horror, MAXXIS appear to have made a bit of a name for themselves in the Cycle world so are a major premium brand in cycling. I ain't paying one hundred quid for a pair of bike tyres! It's amazing how brand awareness affects price...
