2023 ADAC Summer Tyre Test
38th of 50 tyres
  • Very good environmental balance, best sustainability, very high mileage (top grade), very little abrasion (top mark), light and very economical (top mark)
  • Unbalanced, weaknesses on dry and particularly wet roads (devaluation.)
  • Driving safety: The Michelin e.Primacy is rated as sufficient for driving safety due to its wet performance. The Michelin e.Primacy offers the driver satisfactory feedback on the steering wheel on dry roads and does not get more than a satisfactory rating when driving at the limit. When it comes to the braking distance, however, the tire scores well and even gets a good rating for it. All in all, however, it does not get more than a satisfactory result in terms of dry performance. On wet roads, the e.Primacy shows clear weaknesses compared to the test field. Its braking, aquaplaning and handling performance is rated as only adequate. The tire can only moderately combine longitudinal and lateral forces, which means that the test car can only be controlled imprecisely and in the limit area with great difficulty. Overall, the wet performance is rated as sufficient.

Environmental balance: In terms of environmental balance, the e.Primacy sets the standard in the test field. It offers a very high predicted mileage, gets a very good rating for the lowest wear and also scores points in terms of efficiency with very low fuel consumption and low tire weight. The Michelin e.Primacy also sets the bar high when it comes to sustainability and is the only tire that just barely misses a good rating. 2023 The Best Electric Vehicle Tyres VS UHP Tyres
3rd of 10 tyres
  • Best braking in the wet, very low rolling resistance and quiet rolling noise. Easily controllable tyre with safe understeer tendency.
  • Poor ride comfort with low self-damping.
  • The e.Primacy is the best choice for high-quality, comfortable e-models - but it's expensive.

2022 ViBilagare Eco vs Normal Tyre Test
9th of 10 tyres
  • Low rolling resistance, good stability, crisp steering feel.
  • Very poor wet grip! Long stopping distances in wet.
  • The Michelin ePrimacy eco-tyre is said to have a CO2-neutral manufacturing process. Although the rolling resistance was the lowest in the laboratory, it was not the most frugal when we measured actual fuel consumption. Compared to Primacy 4, e.Primacy has a slightly better steering response and sharper high-speed stability. It is noticeable that it is designed to handle heavier EV-cars, partly helped by the unusually low tread depth – only 6.1 mm.
On dry roads, the grip level is slightly less than the Michelin Primacy 4. On wet roads however, the differences are enormous with poor cornering grip, early aquaplaning and worryingly long braking distances. It is really difficult to drive on wet asphalt.
The environmental thinking went too far. In terms of points, it falls far behind.

Skoda (205/55 R16) on mostly motorways for 0 average miles
I just bought these and was amazed to find they only have 6.mm of tread depth as purchased. D.O.M wk14 2021 C.O.M. Spain I will be monitoring them closely and will be providing and updated review in the fullness of time. I am currently struggling to find a listing of tyre tread depths as purchased so I can make a more informed purchasing decision next time. I've never known a new tyre to have so little tread (depth) at the outset.

Given 83% while driving a Citroën C5 X hybrid 225 (205/55 R19) on mostly motorways for 27,500 average miles
These were the OEM tyres on my Citroën C5X. If you approach it with the knowledge that it is not a Pilot Sport 4S, you will be completely convinced of its main qualities! (fuel saving, quiet rolling noise, good comfort, long lasting)

A good choice for every Plug-in Hybrid or EV car, definitely will fit them (or their replacement) again!

Latest Michelin e.Primacy Reviews

Given 84% while driving a BMW i3 (155/60 R20) on a combination of roads for 2,000 average miles
Comparing to the Bridgestone Ecopia tyres which were on the car when I bought it, the Michelin e.Primacy is quieter and gives a better ride. A slightly bigger positive effort on the steering wheel is needed to begin a turn, which I prefer. Stops very well wet or dry.
Haven't been hurling this car around on the doorhandles so not going to comment on handling.

Given 73% while driving a Tesla 2024 Model 3 RWD (235/45 R18) on a combination of roads for 6,000 average miles
This tires came default on the 2024 Tesla Model 3 and are excellent for everyday driving. It has good comfort, quietness, and low rolling resistance, perfect for electric vehicle efficiency. However, for those who enjoy a brisker pace in wet conditions, it falls short of the confidence-inspiring grip and aquaplaning resistance found in the PS5. With approximately 5mm of tread remaining after traveling 10,000km, it should not have issue lasting 30,000 to 40,000km.

Given 56% while driving a Ford Falcon XF X_PAK (235/40 R18) on a combination of roads for 4,500 spirited miles
My car came new with these tires. I had driven a 2020 ford Focus before this one, with Michelin Crossclimate 2 mounted and they where just overall much better. Recently my car is fitted with the Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen 3 and what a relief. The car is quieter, feels much more grippy, especially in the wet and brought back the "Ford Focus Feeling" to the car.

I would definitly not recommend these tires to anyone.

Given 83% while driving a Toyota Yaris (225/45 R17) on mostly town for 1,000 easy going miles
I replaced my Dunlop Sport Bluresponse, and since the first moment it is more than noticeable that the car starts moving much easier. They are very smooth on the road and when I push them will turning they just follow with confidence. They are also very quiet. I was going for the Primacy 4, but I do not regret at all.

Given 86% while driving a Nissan LEAF Tekna (205/55 R16) on mostly town for 3,000 easy going miles
So much quieter on the car compared to the previous set. Only did the fronts but the difference was dramatic. Will definitely use these these tyres when the rears are due for replacement. A real winner for me.
