I was initially disapointed with these tyres which cost more than previous ones (P6 Cinturato) and now they are nearly done I still am because I enjoy driving.

I wrote a review some time back under P6 model which seemed to suit my car better. The P6000s have been used mainly on motorway and lasted about 27,000 miles which for me is quite good.

A long time ago I had a set of these on a Peugeot 309 GTI and seem to recall having similar problems on that car, that car would spin quite easily without provokation on wet roundabouts and if I am not careful my avensis will as well. Compared to the previous tyres on the 309 the P6000s were a big improvement. Both cars exibited a repetitive odd yawing sensation through the steering on some corners as if there was an unbalanced edge to the tyre tread.

There are mixed reviews on here and annecdotally the worst ones seem to come from owners of European cars. I do not think they are bad but they are car-choice dependant and stupidly overpriced. My ratings are based on my expectation that this was going to be a PREMIUM tyre.

Positives:
Lasted a long time
Sharp direcionality at speed and good feeback
Dry braking was not bad

Negatives:
Eratic wet weather characteristics (mainly roundabouts) did not inspire confidence and not brilliant in the dry really
Hard ride which got worse as they aged
Noise at speed
Slightly fidgety generally and steering sometimes over-light
ABS light can come on over rough surfaces in the wet at slow speeds

Conclusions
In my opinion these are not a premium characteristic tyre so do not pay too much and be careful which car you match them to as this seems to dictate the overall satisfaction of the reviews here.

I've probably had a few sets of these in the past and have had no problems so I recently bought a full set for my Astra. The price of the tyres was only marginally more expensive than some budgets so a better buy in my opinion. The car handles fine in the wet and dry and I expect at least 20k miles out of the front set as they are very hard wearing. I also found the p6000 good in the snow compared to some of the other premium brands Ive had in the past. Maybe not the best tyre on the market but better than some of the reviews Ive read.

Given 87% while driving a Honda Accord CTDi (205/55 R16 V) on a combination of roads for 20,000 easy going miles
Good all-round tyre. Fast became my tyre of choice, due to solid dry grip, responsive wet grip and confidence in snow. I found the tyre to be quiet while travelling, no major issues.
They lasted me about a year, which coverage about 20’000 miles, so not too bad, perhaps could stretch a little longer, but overall good.

Given 87% while driving a Volvo v70 D5 (225/45 R17 W) on a combination of roads for 28,000 average miles
Have seen a lot of negative feedback about these tyres, but personally have not had any major issues with them. They were standard fit on my Volvo V70, and now on my third set of P6000. I do a lot of motorway and country road driving and am finding a set of tyres is lasting about 28,000 miles. However, when towing a caravan there are times when the tyres scrabble for grip, despite the car being up for the job. Most of the year the tyres cope well, but do struggle for grip during the winter months on ice, and anything more than a dusting of snow.

Given 47% while driving a BMW E34 5 Series (225/45 R17) on mostly town for 1,000 average miles
I have two of these new on the rear of my new/old BMW and they are downright dangerous in the wet. They are pretty good in the dry with higher psi, but given Melbourne's random weather (40C at midday, monsoon by night) I still am not happy exposing my woman and young boy to the danger posed by these when it rains in case the traction control doesn't save me, it kicks in unless I take off like a grandma even with the slushbox set to 'winter' which takes off in 2nd. Perhaps they are better on other cars but I would certainly recommend to get other tyres if you have a heavy RWD sedan!

glad to see the back of them , id go for bf goodrich any day, lasts forever and handles well in all weather

I drive an S Type jag. These are the recommended tyre. I recommend not buying them unless you live in a country where it never rains. They are lethal, it's like they are made of plastic rather than rubber. On the plus side they have done about 30,000 miles.

It's a year now since I switched my old A Class Merc off Pirelli 6000s and onto Goodyear Vector 4Seasons. To me the difference is absolutely remarkable in terms of how the car handles in wet and cold conditions. With the P6000s on all wheels the small car felt unstable, jittery, utterly unnerving and dangerous in the wet at any speed. With the Vector 4Seasons on each wheel the car feels transformed; stable, reassuring and good to drive in any weather. Until doing some research and making this switch I didn't appreciate the huge difference having the right tyres makes. I thought the problem was the car.

Given 94% while driving a Vauxhall Omega (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 70,000 spirited miles
I'm currently on my third set of these tyres, and I'm really happy with them. They last for ever (20,000m plus), and just work. I used to have Pirelli P7s on the car until my local garage told me that these would be better (due to it not getting warm enough here for the P7s to get up to temperature fast enough etc), and as these were cheaper, I couldn't resist.

I've been really surprised by all the negative reviews on here - I wonder how much of it is due to driver behaviour? I've only slightly lost the back end of my car once, and it was really raining at the time - I should have known better...

Vauxhall Astra Arctic 1.6 16V (225/45 R17) on a combination of roads for 20,000 spirited miles
The Pirelli P6000 is getting rather dated now, but is still a good tyre in my view.

To put my comments into perspective, I currently drive an S-Type Jaguar 2.7 Twin Turbo Diesel, fitted with Pirelli P-Zero 245 40 x 18 tyres, and previously drove a Vx Omega 2.5 V6 fitted with P6000's for about 80,000 miles. (It came from the factory fitted with Michelins).

I also used to race motorcycles, taking part in the IOM TT twice in the 1980s', and particularly liked racing in the wet (when others didn't), so I don't mind pushing boundaries a little!

So, the Pirelli P6000 is a good tyre, but don't expect it to work in the snow. It sticks well in the wet and the dry, and can be pushed much harder in the wet without getting out of shape than most people would ever dare.

The P6000 is also a reasonably quiet and comfortable tyre, and sticks almost as well as the newer P7 Cinturato, but is much noisier.

Steering feedback depends on the car. Feedback on our old Astra (a family run-around) is not good with any tyre, but feedback on the Omega was excellent. However, the P6000's on the Omega (a very heavy car) tended to get flat spots if not used for a week, which made it feel as if the car had square wheels for the first few miles!

By choice I would fit the P7 Cinturato to the old Astra, (my wife has them on her new Mk 5 Astra), but it isn't available in 14" sizes so I will happily stay with the P6000's whilst I can get them.

Finally, having read some of the [very negative] reviews here, I do wonder whether Pirelli manufactures this tyre with a choice of hard and soft compounds for different markets, or whether some may even be fakes, as I simply don't recognise the characteristics that some of the reviewers here have described.

Given 43% while driving a Ford fusion (195/60 R15 H) on mostly country roads for 10,000 average miles
Car is used without finding the extremes. English weather provided plenty of wet roads and the tyre disappoints. Easily looses its grip when accelerating. Wear also disappointing as most of the thread is worn after 10000 miles. Although not worn out these are going to be replaced.

Superb on the big Merc. Wear rate on these cars are low anyway but the P6000's have done superb and still have 2.7mm left to go. Dry and wet grip is superb, road noise is low and cornering is excellent.
