  • The Vredestein placed sixth overall, with clear strengths in snow conditions. It took three podium spots in snow tests, including first in handling where it showed good balance and precision. Wet performance was less competitive, with sixth place finishes across all tests. Wet braking lagged 1.6m behind the tight group of premium tyres, with similar gaps on the wet circle. Straight-line aquaplaning was average, while curved testing showed bigger gaps. The tyre was 2.5 seconds off the pace in wet handling despite showing decent balance. Dry braking was mid-pack, and though last in dry handling, it was within one second of the fastest time. The Vredestein recorded strong rolling resistance scores, second best among all-season tyres.

2020-11-26 - Hi, I'm interested the vredestein quatrac tyre but when I'm searching for these tyres to buy I can only find either 'pro' or '5' written at the end. This review doesn't state which these are? Also I'm after 225/45r18 and 245/40 r18 size, does this tyre exist in these sizes?

The 'Quatrac' is a new tyre which replaces the Quatrac 5. Vredestein will be releasing new sizes of the Quatrac all the time so hopefully they'll release a tyre in your size soon.


2021-11-29 - Hi, looking at the Vredestein Quatrac in 195/65 R15, would these be suitable for a classic car with tubes? I have spoked wire wheels, so need to use tubes, but do less than 2k miles/yr but in all conditions. Also, what speed rating would you recommend? i assume it effects side wall stiffness, my car only weighs 1043kg Kind regards, Mr Collins

Officially, I'd say no as tubeless tyres are not meant for tubes due to friction. However, I have heard of people running similar tyres with tubes on rally events etc.

I have driven 35 000 km, the front tyres have 4,5 mm remaining, the rear tyres have 5,5 mm remaining. I've driven in all types of surfaces (even a proper muddy offroad) and I've driven for 2 years during 4 seasons in Slovakia. The performance they can perform on snow mud is amazing. I don't have a single complaint about the tires. They grip fantastically on water, they only skid in really extreme manoeuvres, that's way beyond my driving ability. They are comfortable, they filter out bumps very well. I would buy again, the manufacturer has created the perfect product.

I am pleasently surprised by these tires. Untill now I drove the tires only during autumn, winter and spring time. I haven't experienced the tires on any hot summer days, so maybe in the future I will give an update. I live in the Netherlands where it rains a lot. The tires behave really good in the wet. Especially in the cold wet days. I love to drive them. In the dry the tires are really good but they excell more in the wet.

A week ago I drove in the snow and cold conditions in Germany. In the hills in Sauerland I was astonished by the tires. While the snow slowy but steadily started to form a blanket on the road, the tires kept there grip and the safe and secure feeling. They brought my wife and me safe to the hotel while there was probably already 10 cm snow. The following days it was still freezing but the tires did a great job. No unpleasant surprises or anything else. I am really glad I bought these tires.

Honestly I haven't kept an eye on the fuel usage. But I didn't notice any big differences between the Quatracs and the summer tires. I guess it's okay.
There doesn't seem to be any wear. The profile still looks like new.

Conclusion: I highly recommend the Quatracs. They are great in the wet. Steady performance in the dry and safe and secure in the snow. Big shoutout to Tyrereviews because the reason I bought them was due to their All season tire test.

So, i have those tires installed on my GLC350. The rims came with 2 new all season tires and i have purchased additional 2. When i saw the texture of the rubber i thought that those tires will not be good for snow especially that the rims are big and car is very heavy,.over 2tones. My experience so far, tested on dry, wet and snow. On dry and wet the car handles wery well even at high speeds and surprisingly tires are silent. Tested them on the snow recently Poland and Slowakia. No issue to navigate trough snow 5-10 cm on road not a single time anti slippery system came on. One minus ive noticed, turning may be a little bit more tricky but holds well if you turn at low speed. Exiting from a parking lot full of snow without an issue ( 4x4 helps also) I do recommend those tires i believe they are a very good compromise. Are dedicated winter tires better, from top companies( Continental Pirelli Good Year) absolutely, are dedicated medium class winter tires better ( Fulda, Hankok) is questionable. When both me and my mechanik saw the steucture of tire we were sure it will not perform well in winter but it seems our impression was wrong.

This is the mid-life review after 35000km. The tread depth is surprisigly even - 6.5mm front/driven wheels and 6.7mm rear wheels. At this wear rate it seems the tyres will survive past 70000km until they are worn to 4mm depth. Tyres are still quiet, comfortable and confidence inspiring in majority of conditions. The driven wheels have some smaller chunks of tread blocks teared and block edges rounded. Non-driven look surprisingly good with sharp block edeges. I have just switched fron-to-rear to even out the tyres life. The car is Opel Mokka B - daily driver - schools runs, to/from work, errands and occasional long trips. Approximately 70% city and suburbs driving and 30% motorway and the car is rarely fully loaded.

They grip surprisingly well for an all season tire in the dry and snow. I have these mounted on a 8th generation Honda civic sedan with the r18 engine and these tires have me absolutely glued to the ground. I replaced my old Goodyear eagle "all season" tire which had the snow performance of a summer tire in the snow and didn't even preform well in wet or dry. But back to the vredestein, I once was screwing around (dry, 65°f) taking a highway exchang ramp a bit too fast, I hit one rather sharp bend at probably 55+mph and didn't break traction for a second, no tire squeal or anything. Another time (30°f, snow) I had to go to work before the roads were plowed (about 4" of snow on the ground). I got geared up and headed out. The tires gripped very well. I would hit understeer going up steep hills that had thick slush underneath but I was able to pass an SUV barely going 8mph and once I got close to my work I was having an easier time than some 4wd trucks. And for the wet, what used to happen to me in my Goodyear's was that I would be at a stop and have a narrow opportunity to go so I would gun it, but my tires would peel out and I'd be stuck in the middle of the damn intersection going maybe 10mph. I almost got T boned from that once lol. Once I got the vredestein I tried to replicate this. For the first few weeks everytime it rained I would gun it from stops trying to break traction with no luck. Eventually I got frustrated and lined my front tires up on a freshly painted soaking wet stop line and slammed the gas pedal. I was able to get a "squeak" on the paint but once I was on pavement I launched right off. Overall, for me these tires are perfect, everything I want without being too expensive. I paid about $750 USD for these to be mounted and balanced which is about what I expected.

These tyres are my third brand of all season tyres, previously using two sets of Michelin Crossclimates and Continental All Season Contact. They served me quite well, while also giving very good longevity (Continentals especially) and reasonable performance. Inspired by vastly positive reviews of Vredesteins I decided to give them a go as my next tyre set. After a break in period of 500 km I started noticing mostly disappointing performance of the tyres compared even to my old summer sets that I used during the whole year (my area of the country rarely gets snow even in winter, but on a few occasions I ended up having to drive in snow with a summer set). Compared to Continentals dry grip and handling are noticeably worse and road noise is more pronounced (this doesn't really bother me). Lateral wet grip is so bad to the point that my hand is always ready to pull the handbrake while turning, even in the mildest corners in city driving well within urban speeds (read as low as 20km/h). Only area that seems on par with the Continentals is longitudinal wet grip (as in straight line braking and aquaplaning). Moving from stop in city traffic is comically bad even on small slopes and travelling using highway speeds is uninspiring to say the least (and borderline scary in wet conditions). Road feedback is about average. On the positive side, during the 12 000 km I've been using these tyres, thread doesn't seem to be wearing fast, so longevity could be good. As I said before, my area doesn't get snow or ice in the winter so I can't speak in terms of handling and performance in those conditions. Truth be told, after performance shown in regular conditions I wouldn't dare to use the car even for the shortest of drives in snow. I tried varying the pressure to try and remedy some of the problems, but to no avail as the tyre performance gets even worse. To conclude, this review is based entirely on MY experience with MY car, so take it with a grain of salt. I suspect the main problem with these tyres is that they are probably made market specific and in this case, to a lower quality standard (these are made in Hungary, but I believe that sets for, let's say "more western" parts of Europe, are made in Netherlands - I live in Croatia for what it's worth). I had similar experience using identical models of Michelin Energysavers, one set made in France and the other in Romania. You can hazard a guess which set caused a slowmotion crash turning into a wet corner while driving 20 km/h. With all things considering, to me these specific tyres I have on my car are a total disappointment and under no circumstances would I buy them again. I got into a few dangerous situations as a result of bad performance from them and will probably change to another brand despite tyres being only a year old. You may have a totally different experience, as a lot of users do so it seems. but to me these tyres are a big no-no...

We fit them this summer on our second car, aFord B-Max replacing the old Semperit Speedlife2 / Speedgrip2 summer/winter tyres and were mightily impressed by those tyres. These are the first allseasons we used as we live in Austria were chances are that you also see some snow and low temp. So far we however did not drive it in the winter, but in summer it was exceptional. The car felt way more sporty, even directly compared to the summer tires... Even our mum noticed the difference and she is definiely riding non sporty ;-) Will update again once we see the first snow ;-)

I have replaced the Conti EcoContact 6 with Vredestein Quatrac on Opel Mokka B. Since the tyre dimension is 215/65 R16 there cannot be much road feedback and also the small SUV on baloon tyres is not exactly a track machine. In general, the noise is almost the same as with ecocontacts. The fuel consumption is very reasonable but I have no exact numbers to back my claim, as I have not been driving on ecocontacts long enough. The grip is very reasonable in the dry and surprisingly good in the wet. On icy roads the tyres feel very safe, similar to winter tyres. I have no experience in the snow yet. Overall, I am very happy with the purchase. For everyday driving the tyres are great. So far, I have driven approximately 9000 km on them. The non-driven rear tyres look still new and the front ones have some worn edges of the tread blocks but the tread depth is almost as new. I would definitely recommend them.

Excellent tyre. I'm driving A6 Allroads for the past 10 years (changed 3 cars, 4G facelift being the latest model) and I was always running on Michelin CrossClimate and CrossClimate+. However, newest Michelin CrossClimate2 was just way too expensive, so I decided to give Vredestein a try. And I have to admit that I'm totally satisfied with this tyre! Everything runs smooth, I have full control over the car on both dry and wet. When driving through water, Vredestein simply does not do aquaplannung and handles perfectly, while CrossClimate always floated and couldn't handle the aquaplanning properly. The only minor drawback is it's noise that I didn't have on CrossClimate's, but since car has acoustic shielding in windshield, I really don't care. :) Plus, it's always kinda cool to see that 'Giugaro design' marking on the tyre. Since there was no snow last season, I have no clue how it performs on snow and ice, but quattro is quattro and I am convinced there will be no problems with it.

I have fitted these tyres to Mokka in January so by now I have experienced all kinds of weather. In general I am very satisfied. In dry and hot weather they feel exactly like summer tyres. In this size the feedback in naturally weak (it is the same as with original Continental Ecocontact). In the wet the grip is very very good and braking feels very confident. I have not experienced snow but on icy roads they feel fine. I do not have direct comparison with winter tyres on the same car but in general the feeling is similar to winter tyres. Overall I am very satisfied. Since the winters in my region are generally milder with not many snowy days, I would not go back to two sets of tyres for a daily commuter car.

These tyres were fitted from the previous owner on the rear axle only i got a set of snow tyres from Goodyear ultra grip 9+ for the front axle, anyway the vredesteins as is always my experience with any they are amazing tyres no hiccups whatsoever amazing in dry and wet and even more amazing the fact that they are super quiet tyres they are almost on par with my summer tyres (Continental premium contact 6 ). I highly recommend them to anyone that seeks for a premium all weather tyre.

We bought this tyre based on the tests ... for a UK winter in Cumbria, where its mostly wet and cold... these tyres excel in the cold wet weather, good in the dry too, not really had any snow this winter to review that , but will post again for a summer review and a snow review.. but for a cold wet UK winter these tyres are perfect!

Given 88% while driving a Honda Jazz (185/55 R16) on for 10,000 miles
We have these on a Honda Jazz Automatic, so you would think nothing could help you in the snow. Wrong. These tyres give enough traction that every car down the street was stuck, apart from the Honda (and our Skoda on CrossClime+)! In the wet they are simply excellent and never slip, better than most summer tyres I've had.Traveling at any speed on any surface is not an issue. Dry handling and performance is also fine. It's not an exciting tyre, just a safe and capable performer. Noise is also acceptable (considering the price and other performance +s) and far less that the Michelin CrossClimate + we have on a Skoda Superb.
