Firstly these tires have a version with and without studs- I use them WITH studs as that is allowed here. Secondly, I have used these tires on my previous car also for about 25 000 kilometers Thirdly all my cars are Quattro so that may change some things. I have heard quite a lot of negative feedback about these but all from small front-wheel-drive car users, don't know anyone with an RWD car so can not comment on that. For me, these are really nicely controllable tires in snow and also on ice. I do not have any experience with premium category tires but to date, these are the best I have used. I'm quite an aggressive driver in winter and I love the control over both of my cars going sideways with these tires. Also, I have never had any unpredictable or uncontrollable situation with these not going straight or in corners. Any coming slippage can be felt in and corrections can be made in advance. The suds stay nicely in place (of course after running in tires correctly of course). In my other car after 25 000 kilometers, most of the studs are still in place, there are on a tire with 6 missing and that is the worst one. The thread also looks ok and I estimate that 30 - 40 thousand kilometers can be achieved if nothing suddenly changes in the performance later one. I'm not really sure that this will help anyone but if you use an all-wheel-drive car and studs are allowed in your region I suggest to trie them out as the price are quite good in my opinion.

Driving on mostly motorways for 8000 average miles
Decided I'd go for these on my winter wheels, I assumed they'd suit the UK better than an out and out winter tyre more suited towards ice, slush and snow capability, (to the detriment of motorway/fast road performance, most of my driving). Wasn't overly impressed last year to be honest but they did do everything reasonably well though.
Didn't have them on in the summer so can't comment, however I put them on a few months back for this winter, and in this recent weather they have been phenomenal!! Yes I drive a quattro, but I've been pulling out stranded cars, vans and even a lorry, the traction was unbelievable, these tyres never missed a beat, really REALLY impressed.
Yes I 'd say they maybe biased towards cold and wet weather performance (awesome in the snow) but they are more than capable of being a full on all year round tyre option, if you only have one set of rims and don't demand the performance required of a sports summer tyre.

I have a played with Audi 1.9 TDI Quattro Avant pushing just over 200bhp. I have always had cars that were not exactly standard and have stuck with the big named brands as I don't hang about and want my cars to go where I point them and stop when I want them to. Now being in my sixties and retired money has become a big factor. So after reading a few reviews I decided to take the plunge and go for these. £250 all in including fitting for five as opposed to £100+ a corner for the Continentals I was running, no contest on price.

Now we have all seen the "Compare the Chinese tyres to our performance tests" The Chinese always come out as rubbish. Not so! I did my own tests. The first was economy. I went to have these fitted by a chap in the Midlands as nowhere stocked them nearer. 60 miles there on Continentals 45 mpg. The return journey I got 49 mpg and that was with the five Conti's in the back. Sold those on ebay for £200 with around 4mm left, I never take my tyres much lower than that before I get rid.

Dry handling. Very good, not quite as sharp as the Conti's for quick changes in direction but close enough, I feel confident on country roads and have not had any handling issues. Brakes. As good as the Conti.s.

Wet handling. The Conti's were good, or so I thought. These hold on better and as to stopping distance. I took the car out at the first opportunity to give it a go. Dumped the pedal on the floor at 40 mph on a clear road, I should have changed to these sooner! They are clearly better.

Wear. At slightly over 5000 I have used 1.2 (Front) 1 millimetre (Rear) so these are on target to beat the Conti's

Winter driving. Can't make a comment on this as I always run winter mud+snow tyres on 16" rims as I do a lot muddy tracks and fields.

Overall. Excellent tyre and will be buying these again.
