BMW 320D MSport Tourer XDrive Tyre Review Highlights

Writing about the Continental SportContact 7 given 91% (255-35-19-)
Driving on a combination of roads for 5000 spirited miles
I was just about to buy the Michelin PS4 since they known to be one of the best tires, but decided to put in some research beforehand and ended up finding some excelent reviews about the SportContact 7, I can gladly say these reviews were not fake at all!
I mostly drive them locally on some pretty raught roads where they still manage to give a comfortable ride considering the tyre sizes and also took some road trips where I could put them into the test and well they work like a charm, handling is just amazing in the dry paired with some Bilstein coilovers. During the first bigger rain last summer I also tried a couple of emergency stops and they did not dissapoint.

These Pirelli P7 run flats were fitted to a BMW 320d f30 xdrive loan car I had for a week, identical to my own car which is fitted with Bridgestone S001s so an interesting direct comparison. The Pirellis are softer with a much less hard ride, but also made the car feel a bit floaty. They didn't tramline like the Bridgestone though. Noise level seemed much the same. Definitely a comfort oriented choice. They were used in soaking wet weather and felt secure, but there is too much traffic where I live to find the limits of adhesion especially with 4wd.

Writing about the Bridgestone Potenza S001 RFT given 66% (225-45-18-W)

After 12 years of RFT experience on an e90 BMW now have S001s on an F31 320d Msport xdrive. They are the most comfortable RFT tyre to date but that may be due to BMW rather than the tyre. Over 12m use I have found a real variance in the ride quality dependent on temperature, in UK winter they are back to traditional hard RFT ride, but in Summer much better. The main reason I would not buy them again is due to the tramlining and general wandering on heavily used UK roads, on freshly surfaced roads the car tracks dead straight so I know it’s not the car at fault. I last experienced this with Bridgestone RE050 RFTs, cured on my E90 by switching to Conti sport contact in 3 and then 5 guise, so it’s a Bridgestone problem.

Excellent tyres. Incredible wear, now up to 42,000 miles & plenty of tread left. Will definitely replace with the same again.
