BMW 520d Sport Tyre Review Highlights

Writing about the Pirelli P Zero Runflat given 59% (245-45-18-)
Driving on a combination of roads for 19000 average miles
Having had to replace my tyres for the THIRD time after 91,000km - that’s only 56,500 miles - or 19,000 miles per set - I don’t see these tyres as value for money - particularly as I don’t drive hard.
I’d have expected to get up to 25,000 miles on a set of Run Flats.

Writing about the Nexen WinGuard Sport 2 given 100% (225-55-17-)
Driving on a combination of roads for 10 average miles
Some great tires, very low noise, excellent stability and handling. Very good protection for rims. They are very hard to chop.

Writing about the Landsail LS588 UHP given 84% (235-35-19-)
Driving on mostly country roads for 2000 spirited miles
Very good value. Good reaction, traction and noise level. These replaced uniroyals on a 5 series and I prefer them.

Writing about the Accelera PHI 2 given 84% (275-40-18-W)
Driving on for 15000 miles
Been running 2 on the rear for 12 months. For £85 fitted (tyres on the drive) these are excellent. Im fussy about best possible wet grip, 275 too wide for a RWD car relatively light on the rear end = shows up poor tyres very quickly. These are equal to tyres I have paid over twice the price for in normal spirited use. Would buy again without hesitation

Writing about the Accelera PHI given 71% (225-45-17-W)
Driving on a combination of roads for 500 spirited miles
F10 light on the back for 275 width standard rubber, shows up poor tyres very quickly in the cold and wet pulling away at junctions
Bought as an emergency expected to have Sport Maxx repaired (non runflat) but poor batch from Mytyres splitting and age cracking so had to fit the Accellera. Expected to find the nearest ditch, spent the first few days driving very carefully, but after careful testing I can confirm this tyre to be surprisingly OK, similar is not slightly better grip than the SportMaxx, not as good as Hankook evo2,but better than the Conti (5?) runflats it came with from the factory.

Writing about the Accelera PHI 2 given 77% (275-40-18-W)
Driving on a combination of roads for 500 spirited miles
Emergency purchase due to a faulty Dunlop Sport Maxx delaminating and deflating

With one remaining Maxx and the Accelera expected it to drive like a drunken 3 legged dog but little difference

Maxx not great in cold and wet for grip anyway compared to say Hankook s1 evo2 (excellent traction but wear little faster).

Writing about the Goodyear Excellence given 70% (245-40-19-W)
Driving on mostly motorways for 5000 average miles
Have had three of these tyres on the front of my BMW and all three have failed due to pothole damage.

Coincidence? I think not.
