BMW 530D Xdrive Msport Tyre Review Highlights

Writing about the Continental WinterContact 8 S given 94% (275-35-19-)
Driving on mostly country roads for 300 average miles
I changed from 20” to 19” wheels (because of frequent wheel cracks on the 20” run flat set up). The change has positively transformed the car, reducing brain crunching bangs and eliminating skittish behaviour when cornering on imperfect roads. I have had the opportunity to drive the 8S tyres on a mixture of road conditions including dry, wet, snow, slush and ice; the tyres inspire confidence across a wide variety of conditions. Driving in snow and slush, the tyres are sure footed and you don’t see stability control called in to action, when driving appropriately. On clear roads you can drive as confidently as you would with summer tyres. The only notable difference is greater road noise with the winter tyres; not horrible but noticeable.

Writing about the Bridgestone Turanza 6 given 59% (245-45-18-)
Driving on a combination of roads for 10000 average miles
Smooth and comfortable tyre with very low rolling resistance.
Wear is terrible, almost done after one summer (10k miles 16k km), and as others have pionted out, they wear out the middle part of the tyre first. (2.9 bar 42 psi).

I replaced them with Michelin PS5 this spring, and they have almost run the same distance as the Turanza 6 before they got replaced, and the wear is not even noticable. I did a visual check on them when i put the winter tyres on, and they look almost new!
The PS5 is also very comfortable, maybe slightly noiser. They are not as good as Turanza 6 on rolling resistance, but i suspect they they will get better as they wear down. Superb handling and they look very good.
All things considered, the PS5 is a much better tyre choice.

I've driven alot of high powered rwd cars, yet now I'm driving a sensible 4wd diesel I've never been killed so much in my entire life, the person who put these on a car should be put away for attempted murder !! In the wet I've never experienced anything like it, no warning, the car will let go so you better be awake. Lots of tread left but I value my own life so will be changing these asap

Writing about the Bridgestone Potenza S007 given 47% (275-30-20-)
Driving on mostly motorways for 6000 easy going miles
I purchased these tyres for my 5 series as they are on various websites. However my first set on the rear lasted 6000 miles. Contacted Bridgestones and spoke with their technical team who said these are a very high performance tyre and not designed for a 5 Series. They are really only designed for an 8 and anything other than an 8 will result in premature wear. My previous Michelin Pilot Sports which I feel are superior lasted in excess of 30000 miles. Not happy at all. Will not buy Bridgestones again. No website that sells these has that advice.
