Dacia stepway Tyre Review Highlights

Writing about the Zeetex ZT1000 given 69% (205-55-16-H)
Driving on mostly town for 7000 spirited miles
About 11 000km on them, second summer(i do have a winter set)

They started to wear down, from 7.2mm to about 5mm.Still pretty good in the dry, almost silent, very comfortable.

Spring/summer is very rainy this year aaand its a problem :(

They are starting to worry me in the wet...Cornering is ok, but braking is becoming pretty sketchy. The car will activate abs on smooth city streets in wet even when braking lightly.( and then the car takes ages to stop)

If you live somwhere where it doesn't rain often they are good, but if you have a lot of rain i would look for something else

Hi All
I live near La Rochelle, France.
Tyres fitted to Dacia Stepway Tce 90 when new.
Superb when new in the rain, but at4.5 mm depth they slipped twice in the Pyrenees on bends and wet roads (80 kmh). Wheel spin at the same time!
Home a few days later and a nail through a front tyre so half worn and replaced by Michelin Cross Climate, so no slip on wet roads.
Wear on rear Good Year (still in situ) after 30,000 km/s.

Writing about the Uniroyal RainSport 3 given 89% (205-55-16-)
Driving on mostly town for 15000 spirited miles
I think that you can't buy a better summer tire thats good for the rain for this price...It's amazing...
I wouldn't call it a sport tire, i would call it a very very safe tire...

You can absolutely hoon in the biggest rainfall and the car will grip like its on dry pavement.

However it does have flaws...Sidewalls are very soft, it rides nice, but steering feel is reduced(but it does have a ton of grip)...I WOULD NOT put this tire on any heavy vehicle!!! Only lighter cars.
The sidewall will get hernia(buble) on potholes, curbs, or even burst if you put it on a 1.5-2 ton vehicle, like i've seen on few luxury sedans(audi a6 wagon\, E class etc)...

But it's amazing for your average golf, clio, megane, focus, etc which are not that heavy...

Driving on mostly country roads for 2000 spirited miles
Needed 2 new BUDGET summer tires, and bought these...They are fitted to the front, and on the rear i have Uniroyal Rainsport 3(almost new 6.5-7mm, drove them only one season)...I'm actually impressed with these Zeetex tires...
They are very quiet(at least in this dimension) and very soft to the touch...
I do drive aggressively...
DRY
In the dry and warm weather, they hold the road really impressive...It seems that somehow in the corners they grip better than amlost new uniroyals(only 7-8k km on them) on the back, as i'm able to initiate lift off oversteer quite easly...Steering is also more precise than with uniroyals even though they are softer to the touch...Braking is also pretty good.
WET
They do not shine in the wet as in the dry, but they are completly ok...They are worse than uniroyals, but uniroyal is the best rain tire for the money...
They do not aquaplane easly on the straight, but if you try to corner aggressively they will understeer(but you can carry reasonable speeds)...Braking is average, so you need to be more carefull, but again, they are fine, i've driven a lot worse and more expensive tires...
One more thing, they like to spin on that "smooth" wet asphalt if you try to take off with a little more gas :)

They are on the car for 2 000km, so only time will tell how they'll behave when they are worn...I'll update the review

But for now, every recommendation if you are on a tight budget!
And if you are a normal/casual driver, you definitely do not need anything more than this tire, trust me!

Driving on a combination of roads for 11 average miles
I live in the Vendée, France, and August? I wrote a review of the Good Year Efficient Grip tyre so this is an update.
Also I am a Brit wrinkly of 74 yrs.

Tyre depth, 5.5 front, 6.5 rear.

So, température 8 degs, road WET-WET6-WET!
Roundabout on main road, nought about, Dacia Stepway Tce 90. Floored it going into the roundabout, bit of slip from wheels.
Exit, nearside wheel slipped a bit then then gripped.
Dacia went the direction I wanted, no slide. Mind you, Top Gear France used the Dacia Sanderro for 'fasted lap', never lost it.
I had to severely provoke the tyres to slip, but nought wrong.

Next test, dual carriageway, downhill with a bend and drop down of gracient. Damp road.
I had a Renault Modus before the Dacia, Matador tyres, not nice on this bit.
Good Year tyres, OK, was a bit concerned on that bend but no problems.

Wife was not amused!

Driving on a combination of roads for 10000 average miles
I live in the Vendee, France.
In summer the tyres give a nice ride on all roads, but in winter on country roads (very rough) not so good.
They have never given a problem driving in all conditions. Exception, wet cow dung, etc, they slip then.
Wear, well I have calculated about 24,000 kms on front tyres.
Dacia Stepway Tce 90 can be lively in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear (ECO off).
Mind you I am 74 yrs so do not push the car like a youngster, always make sure the passenger (wife) does not rock/roll in her seat!!!
All in all, the tyres have never given me any problems.
Swerve ability is good, done that a few times.

A really nice four seasonal preference. It gives confidence that it is a symbol of suitability for winter use. People generally do not rely on four seasons, but their minds change as they use it. It successfully completed the winter conditions. I did not see a flaw outside the stone collection :)
