Ford Focus RS Mk1 Tyre Review Highlights

Writing about the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 given 86% (225-45-17-)
Driving on mostly town for 8000 spirited miles
I'm not sure if the isometric 1s were slightly better than the 2s. I tried Michelin sport3 and would say the f1s were better I wore the Michelins out in 4 months on the front but drive hard. The f1s were definitely better in the wet which matters in England. Back to f1 eagle for me.

I run these on the front of my RS. The tyres are good all rounders, and give particularly good feedback and unexpected grip in wet conditions.

In the dry, at times, they struggle to handle out of corner grip in the RS but this is pretty rare.

I run these on the back of my RS, having swapped some ageing Pilot Sport Two's for them. I have no complaints in how this tyre performs, they feel very sticky and give quite a comfortable ride.

Driving on a combination of roads for 6000 spirited miles
Another 6000 summer miles have past with these tyres on the rear of my car. Can't really fault them in general, they are generally very grippy and seem to be wearing very well considering. They can't quite match the grip of the newer Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymetric 2's I have on the front so the car can be a little tail happy in the wet due to the alteration of balance. They are progressive and feelsome enough to know when this is going to happen though.

They are also a little noisy and hard in use due to their hard sidewalls, but this also has it's handling upsides.

Driving on a combination of roads for 5000 spirited miles
I have been very impressed with these tyres. Extremely grippy in the dry, but also quieter and more comfortable than my previous Michelin Pilot Sport tyres.

What is really impressive though is traction in the wet, better than any tyre I've previously used.

Driving on a combination of roads for 6000 spirited miles
These tyres were fitted to the rear of my car when I purchased it. They had been on the car since new and had done around 52000. I have subsequently done around 6000 miles on them since then, on the front of the car.

The tyres are good overall, however at the extremes of use definitely show their age. I found it surprisingly easy to spin the wheels in 2nd gear in warm dry conditions, and mid corner grip was not consisten. Normal day to day driving though the tyres were fine.
