SEAT Exeo Tyre Review Highlights

Writing about the Bridgestone Turanza T005 given 41% (205-55-16-)
Driving on a combination of roads for 3000 average miles
They were mounted on a Seat Exeo and produce a lot of noise at temperatures below 20 degrees. At a normal use after about 6000 Km they started to exfoliate the tread and became practically unusable, they were made in France. Too bad I can't attach the pictures. I don't want to hear about Bridgestone anymore. I noticed that at their launch they had a better review and now after 2 years their rating has dropped a lot.

company 87% owned by goodyear so I assume the base casing is the same as them. wear rate better than the hancook they replaced. low noise very good dry grip slightly less so in the wet when pressing on.fitted to seat exeo diesel heavy on the front but wear rate as good as anything for the price.after 51 years on the road(20 in the tyre trade) I would buy them again

Perfect handling. Comfortable even in cold weather. 40000km and 1.4 mm before the legal limit. Better than Michelin PS3 and Hankook Ventus Prime 3

Driving on mostly town for 500 spirited miles
The car is 2.0tsi FWD STAGE1 with close to 300 bhp and 480 nm torque. Its being driven fairly aggressively on mostly city and country roads with the occasional motorway driving. I come form Kumho Exsta XS ku36 tyres 235/45/17 i.e. one size larger footprint then the Yokos. First impressions after 500 miles are that the Yokos fee much much lighter (although if you look at the spec sheets its only a couple of kgs a corner) They are significantly more responsive in terms of steering feel and direction change. If anything lateral grip has improved slightly although longitudinal grip and breaking capacity have been perhaps slightly reduced. If this is indeed the case the difference very small. This could very well be due to the Yokos smaller 225 section or maybe is a misperception on my end. Everything I write is based on feel alone and I have no data to back my experiences.
The Yoko is definitely the better tyre of the two it has better comfort, exceptional performance and a very sharp steering feel making the dull VAG/Audi steering more enjoyable to drive. The tyre handles small road imperfections very well on par with a UHP tyre. This changes as the imperfections become bigger and tyre starts to show its hard sidewalls. There is the occasional tramlining but its not as bad as it is on the Kumhos. Surprisingly quiet tyres. There is none of that humming and buzzing that I used to get form the Kumhos. The Kumhos at 120 km/h and above sounded as if I have a swarm of angry bees in the engine bay. Wet driving is fine I rarely drive hard when its wet so nothing to complain here but then again the tyres have not been pushed in the wet.
Due to their better steering capacity, occasional tramlining and hard sidewalls you need to be awake when pushing on country roads with less then perfect surface as the tyres become very "nervous" and small steering inputs sometimes result in bigger then expected direction changes at very high speed 140 km/h +

Overall I am very pleased with my purchase.

Writing about the Firestone Firehawk SZ90 given 61% (225-40-18-W)
Driving on mostly town for 13000 spirited miles
I replaced my Goodyear Eagle F1s, which I'd had on since the car was new, with the Firestone Firehawk SZ90u to try and save a few quid. But as soon as I drove away from the garage I could tell the difference. The car seemed more bouncier as I steered (not in a good way) and felt unstable. It felt like the car was swaying. I beared with it to see if it was just psychological but when I took some corners at what I deemed to be my usual way, the traction control would come on and the car didn't handle anything like it did with the Goodyears. I had never really noticed much difference in handling over the years when I've changed my tyres but maybe as I'm driving a faster, sportier car that I enjoy driving well maybe this is the difference. I was that concerned I took my car back to the garage to ask them if they could check that nothing had been disturbed or fiddled with when changing the tyres! A technician came out with me and drove the car but he couldn't notice anything wrong with the way it handled. I can only put it down to the difference in tyres and when they showed me the difference in the side wall firmness between the Goodyear and the Firestone, the Goodyear are reinforced and solid, preventing rolling and improving stability. The Firestones have now worn on the outside circumference (fronts only) after approx. 13,000 miles, requiring replacement. The rest of the tyre and the rears have plenty of tread left on them but I am putting Goodyear Eagle F1s back on the fronts for now and the rears when they're also worn. Hopefully I will get the trusty road holding and handling I was accustomed to again..

Writing about the Nokian WR D4 given 99% (225-45-17-H)
Driving on a combination of roads for 100 spirited miles
Just fitted these tyres on a 260+ bhp fwd car. These are my very first impressions form around 100 miles. The tyres are very quiet and comfortable on the fairly decent roads. They hide well small road imperfections. The larger imperfections are were a bit harsh but this is down to my "sport" suspension as well. On dry roads they provide the best feedback that I have ever felt form a winter tyre. The same is true for dry grip both lateral and longitudinal. The car is very stable on dry roads even when pushed. Traction off the line (at 8 degrees Centigrade) is on par with my 235 section summer semi-slicks on a warm day. Wet handling in light rain is superb. Have not tried them yet in heavy rain, snow or ice. I will put some more miles on them and report on their progress. So far I am very happy with my purchase especially when I know that they will get even better when I wear the thin film of …whatever lubricant Nokian use to ensure clean separation of the tyre from the tyre mold. Oh and last but not least i got them for 104 EUR a corner which was 25% less than Michelin, Goodyear, Dunlop, Pirelli ...etc.
