Just about the worst tyres I have ever had. I bought cheap thinking they would be a good buy as I only used this car for short journeys. What a mistake. The sidewalls cracked within a few months, the steering was vague, the overall grip felt very uncomfortable, they were noisy and, eventually, I gave up when the tyres caused so much road noise I thought the bearings were failing! Cheap but not a good buy at all.

These tyres are absolute and utter rubbish. Overrated waste of money.
Had a pair fitted on the front thru blackcircles and they only lasted 12k.
I had a pair of p6000 before and done about 45 000 miles on them!!!
Do the maths.

Driving on a combination of roads for 3000 average miles
I put 2of these on the front of my Passat and they were fine, in wet and dry, 3 months later went to France, and the long and short of it was I scuffed a kerb, ther was a piece of drainage metal that had a jagged edge protruding out from the kerb which ripped a whole in the side wall, the tyre was wrecked. I could not get a new rainsport tyre and hence had to replace both tyres on the front, a rel shame as only 3 months old.

Since replacing the fronts to westlake sa05, not the best tyre, my fuel economy has markedly improved, Im surprised no one else has mentioned this aspect of the rainsport - having a negative effect on fuel economy, in my case with just 2 rainsport tyres fitted on the front I lost about 10 miles per gallon.

My car is a VW Passat 1.9 TDi. max speed of this car is 119 mph. Came in at popular tyre dealer. They did not have the tyre I wanted at the mandatory speed rating. Advised me these Dunlops. The first 1000 miles they were fine. Than the noise started. Unbeleavable! Got worse as these tyres wore. Now massive bearing noise from 40 miles an hour and faster.
Never again.

Great tyres for ice and snow, bad on wet road, noisily. I like them. My best tyres for winter. Better than Continental WinterContact TS 810, Pirelli P6 all seasons!

Driving on a combination of roads for 60000 average miles
I bought those in 2008 and now in 2012 I bought them again. Why? Because of so many kilometers I've made with them. Before that I was told Michelin tyre doesn't last long. Wrong. I've drove with them 4 winter seasons and after winter 2011 I didn't change them before summer season on purpose. Grip in wet was still good so I left them on and wear them to the end. There was still 4mm of profile but for snow sake their life was at the end. Lately I'm getting aquaplaning often so they gotta go.

I've probably made around 90000- 100000 km with Michelin alpin A4. Comfort? As long as my CD changer doesn't skip, I'd say great. My style of driving family car is probably average though driving 30km/h over the speed limit is normal for me (I do have radar detector) If I want to be on my job in time. Michelin alpin A4 is good buy IMO. Here where I live winter are like 2 months of dry cold (+4/-20°C)and 1 month of constant snow at least...and since roads are not plowed early in the morning I'm driving in fresh snow quite often. That's why I need good winter tyres; and Michelin alpin A4 gets the job done.
My driving experiences are +20 years including rally.
I consider myself swift but safe driver.

Without a doubt the worst tyre I have ever fitted. Even when new, these tyres caused me to constantly aquaplane at 40mph on the M25.
For me they were dangerous. I replaced them after only 2200 miles.

Outstanding tyre.
I truly believe it outperformed the Bridgestone and
Michelin faithfully used to buy.
Also at £ 71 supplied and fitted less than half what
Previously used to pay.
Much better wear just replaced my front two after 27000 miles!
2mm wear left. Rear still have 4mm
Don't get robbed at big national order them through small independent tyre fitters

Driving on a combination of roads for 6000 average miles
Excellent tyres for the winter (of course). They seem to perform better in the cold and wet than in the warm and dry.

COLD AND WET: Just excellent - greasy roundabouts have all vanished - no skitting and skating with these. Not even explored their limit - they hang on in any conditions I have encountered.

COLD and DRY: Very good.

WARM and WET: Work very well still.

Warm and Dry: A little noisy during cornering. Come April this is when you know its time to change back to summers.

SNOW: Just incredible !! 50mph easy on fresh snow - I bottled before the tyre showed any sign of wavering. Grip, control. Drive sensibly, and snow need never be a hazardous issue again, at least if no one else is around, but in traffic, you are going to get rear ended if you use their stopping ability to the full, and filthy looks for how fast you are going.

Writing about the Avon ZV5 given 83% (205-65-15-V)
Driving on mostly motorways for 10000 easy going miles
After five sets of Avon ZV5'S on a VW Passat tdi l am quit pleased with the performance, they do seem to wear out quit rapid about every six to seven months in my case,
l do around 20k per year , so around ten thousand miles is normal , l do check the pressures two times per week , l have just found out that l have two front tyers that are faulty , the tyer company does not want to know , and Avon are the same , the tyers have 5mm on so looks like l have to ditch them
hope this helps
