Volkswagen Polo GTI Tyre Review Highlights

Writing about the Nokian Snowproof P given 96% (225-45-17-)
Driving on mostly country roads for 3000 spirited miles
Fitted the snow proof P to my 2023 VW Polo GTI 2ltr (205ps). After six months use (central Germany) I've found them to be very capable tyres, even in fresh deep snow after a heavy fall. At temperatures below 7°c they are quiet & comfortable to drive. They provide plenty of grip in dry conditions. In the wet they are very capable but suffer a little understeer in tight corners at speed. On the Autobahn at speed they're very quiet & feel secure in standing water. No worries with aquaplaning.

Writing about the Michelin Pilot Sport 5 given 90% (215-40-18-)
Driving on mostly country roads for 1000 spirited miles
Replaced these Pilot Sport 5 tyres from the Continental premium contact 6’s that came as standard on car from factory and all I can say is WOW, much less of a dead 12 o’clock feel very progressive when pushing on. Excellent in wet. If I stomped on the go pedal at a roundabout to squeeze out a gap or get me out of bother, the Conti’s just spun up and I had to let of the gas a bit and reapply gently. These Pilot Sport 5’s have NEVER lost traction once yet. The Conti’s were not badly worn either, the rears had about 4ml of tread and the fronts had just under 3. I changed them as I just couldn’t get on with them, they felt hard very crash over bumps. I would buy these PS5’s again in a heartbeat. My car tyre size is quite niche and there isn’t a lot of premium choices but I’m so glad I got these!

Writing about the Michelin Primacy 3 given 60% (215-45-17-)
Driving on a combination of roads for 30000 spirited miles
I believe Michelin Primacy 3 could be labeled as a good tyre, however for the type of vehicle that I drive they are simply not good enough. I am driving a VW Polo GTI and the tyres simply do not cope with the amount of torque the vehicle has. It's super easy to lose grip even in the dry if you try to put the power down. The tyres simply slip, sometimes even in 2nd or even 3rd gears.

Writing about the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 given 94% (215-45-17-)
Driving on a combination of roads for 400 spirited miles
I watched your video of a big group tyre test with the MK8 Golf GTI which included the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6, Michelin Pilot Sport 5 and Bridgestone Potenza with many other tyres. After hearing your feedback of the tyres and seeing the results, the Goodyear seemed to impress in each category. I then went ahead and purchased them for my car which had a semi budget Nexen on the front and Michelin on the rear. With the tyre change the car was transformed. The dry grip is incredible and the feel through the steering wheel is amazing. I'm quite young so the comfort of the tyre didn't matter to me but my dad who drove it said it was a tad hard. The traction when driving away with a considerable amount of throttle is very good. I am yet to drive them in wet conditions but I'm sure they will excel in this category as well. I would highly recommend purchasing these tyres. Thanks for your reviews

Driving on a combination of roads for 3000 average miles
Overall good performance. Masters in wet conditions, but the dry braking is a bit numb, it is noticeable that takes longer and you need to press harder on the brakes, thus costing some more quid in the future. Sometimes could be little noisier than usual, but typically is manageable. Snow roads are well covered, but need to have one in mind when attacking the corners. Overall - I recommend it if you can find it for a better price!

Writing about the Bridgestone Turanza T005 given 50% (215-40-18-)
Driving on for 15000 miles
Not the most comfortable tyre, yes its low profile but its rigid and hard side wall makes ride and comfort terrible... add this with the 320 tread wear rating it is a fast wearing tyre that i only managed to get 25000km off of... Prices for these tyres are ridiculous as well doesnt justify the quality of tyre... won't recommend this tyre to anyone...

Got a 2019 polo GTI originally on 215/40 R18 Bridgestone turanza t005, these were terrible for traction, very scary in the wet particularly with aqua planing. Swapped for 225 section Goodyear’s and the car is transformed, so much better in the wet and much better for traction. Definitely buy again.

Driving on a combination of roads for 400 spirited miles
So, I was a bit sceptical about buying these as they are a fairly new tyre to the market and couldn’t find many reviews on them. I went in anyway as they’re a fair amount cheaper than PS’s and the shocking Potenza’s that came on my car from the showroom. After a few hundred miles I can confirm that these tyres are brilliant. Feedback is rather good, car felt a little numb to start with but I don’t know if that was just in my head. The levels of grip are decent in the dry and in damp conditions. I haven’t driven in properly wet conditions as of yet, so can’t comment on that. Neither can I comment on wear as they’re only a few hundred miles old.
Don’t hesitate to buy these over other more expensive tyres. You won’t be disappointed.

Driving on mostly motorways for 20000 spirited miles
Had 2 fitted to my VW Polo. They were very soft so they didn't last long but had good grip in the dry, As soft tyres they don't react fast to direction changes but were very confortable on a straight line.
When new they had good wet grip but lost it only after the first 2000-3000km. Imagine that your tyres are only good for this long: In the long run it turns into a very expensive tyre for such a low performance,

Driving on mostly motorways for 10000 spirited miles
Bought them because at the time my tyre dealer only had these and conty's in 185/55R14 and i couldn't afford the Sportcontact's.
They do all reasonabbly well but are not really GOOD in any part.
For the price they cost they were a honnest tyre: payed little-got little.
As time passes by they loose a lot of grip and become VERY dangerous in the wet.
Had to replace them since one of them developed a blister on the inside wall of the tyre, Pure luck they didn't blew :check them from time to time.
Never bought Marshall's again
