Volkswagen Tiguan Escape 2.0tdi Tyre Review Highlights

Writing about the Michelin CrossClimate Plus given 86% (235-55-17-)

Excellent tyres with good dry / wet grip and braking. We haven't had any snow so I can't comment on the snow grip but they work well in cold weather. The ride almost seems a bit 'soft' on the tyres although there's no lack of grip or steering feedback which makes for a very comfortable ride and I don't notice them being particularly noisy. I went for the CrossClimate+ rather than the CrossClimate SUV for the Tiguan, it is just a jacked up golf after all, perhaps that's why they're quieter and they seem to work well with the car. I've had a few problems towing a loaded horse trailer uphill on wet grass but any road tyre would struggle under those conditions and very few SUVs would be used like that anyway, in the normal SUV habitat of tarmac roads and carparks where going off-road means parking on the pavement they can't be faulted. Although they weren't cheap to buy they currently they have 5-6mm tread after 14,000 miles and they don't seem to have lost any grip so they look to be good for 30k miles which makes them good value overall. I would buy again but I can't as they've been replaced by the CrossClimate2 which promises to be even better.

Done nearly 20k miles on a set of these on a Tiguan over 2 summers - I took them off for the winter as they aren't sold by Nokian as winter tyres.

I've found them ok on dry tarmac, not as good as standard road tyres, as you'd expect. They maintain a good level of grip as the surface deteriorates, and then lose grip more as you get onto poor slippery surfaces and mud. They perform poorly on wet tarmac to the extent that I have considered discarding them well before they're worn out.

Wear looks good - can't comment on comfort...

I definitely won't go for these again. Have to say I'm surprised at other user reviews of these tyres - maybe I'm expecting too much, but they're definitely poorer than all other tyres I've used.

Fitted these to our VW Tiguan last November, now ran them for approximately 4000 miles. Slightly more road noise, but not significantly. Grip is good in wet and dry conditions. Also good on gravel tracks where we regularly drive to access work sites. Fuel consumption is poorer by about 4 mpg. No obvious wear apparent as yet. Nothing really wrong with them but sourcing them was not straightforward. We will probably go back to Vredsteins.

Driving on a combination of roads for 35000 average miles
Over 35000 miles the fronts still have 3mm of tread & the rear's have 5mm. What excellent wear and performance from a top quality tyre. Highly Recommended!!!

Geeod all-round tyre used on a Tiguan Escape 4x4 as VW original equipment. Very good on snow, reasonably good on ice, a good compromise tyre
