Volvo V40 1.5 T3 Geartronic Tyre Review Highlights

Driving on mostly motorways for 16000 easy going miles
I bought a set of 4 tyres to replace the factory Bridgestone Turanza T001s. I got these tyres at a good deal and initial impressions was good. It was compliant, comfortable and quiet enough to be a good daily driver. However, its performance in the wet is not very impressive and it does not disperse the water as well as I hoped. It made me very paranoid around water puddles and I just did not feel comfortable and safe in the wet.

By far, the worst part is these tyres wear far too quickly. I managed a little over 25,000km before they were worn and I was disappointed with the life of the tyres. I mean I am not a fast or aggressive driver and take things easy on the highway. I keep the pressure inflated and balance the tyres regularly. I still could not make them last. I would not buy P6 ever again and would not recommend P6 to anyone.

I bought 4 of these tyres to replace the worn out Pirelli Cinturato P6. Initial impressions are that these tyres indeed comfortable, grippy and returned good feedback. Priced quite well also and I thought I was getting good value for money which is why I took the plunge. After 20,000km the tyres were mostly worn but still slightly above the thread wear indicator. After 11 months, At 30,000km with the tyres well worn, I felt the tyres were wobbly on the highway and I especially dread driving in the wet because of the tendency to slip. That was the last straw and I subsequently changed to Michelin. I have always kept the pressure inflated to manufacture’s recommendation and used the car mostly on highways. Drove rather calmly and despite my best efforts, it still wear out faster than I expected. Longest lasting tyre I had was the factory fitted Turanza T001. Lasted 50,250km. These Goodyears dissapoint. I would not buy it again nor will I recommend it.

Driving on mostly motorways for 3000 average miles
I got these tires with my vehicle Volvo V40 D2, that was brought from Sweden, I live in Czech Republic, so I don't need "nordic" winter tires but kept these for the one winter they were still within the legal limits of threat depth in my country. I was shocked how good these tires were. Even though I drove them out of their designed use case (mild winter with temperatures around 0C and mainly wet, barely any snow), they were well above average in everything. Maybe except handling since they were rolling out of corner pretty soon, but nothing that would come without good feedback from the wheels. Also the comfort and acoustics were excellent. Couldn't tell any difference in consumption compared with summer tires (Pirelli P7 215/50 r17)
