Volvo v70 RDESIGN 2.0 d Tyre Review Highlights

Writing about the Kumho IZen KW27 given 88% (245-40-18-)
Driving on a combination of roads for 30 average miles
These are tyres that just keep giving! I bought this set of Kumho IZen KW27 winter tyres in 2015 after having a particularly bad time in the Alps the previous year driving a Volvo V70 R Design on summer tyres and having to use snow chains whilst the locals were using winter tyres without any issues. They have now completed 30,000 miles, I am driving a different Volvo and the skiing trips have come to an end, but there is still life in these Kumho winter tyres, I'm sure I will get another winter out of them after this winter, I live in the north of England, the winter tyres go on sometime in November and are usually removed by the end of March which mean they are rarely in used in temperatures above 7c, this could be a reason why they have lasted so long.
Originally bought to travel on skiing holidays, where they excel in the snow and ice, I have found that they perform equally well in the cold, wet climate of England, the tread disperses water efficiently providing excellent grip.

Driving on mostly country roads for 125 spirited miles
After reserching for an age I decided to put these on my 09 Volvo V70 R-Design, and with 125 mile drive through rural highlands roads mix of single track, duel carriageways, and B roads back home from the fitting centre I am delighted.

Grippy, quiet, rapid, comfortable, fantastic hard breaking capacity on uneven surfaces, no wet roads to test it on but I have a feeling they will continue to excel.

Writing about the Pirelli P Zero given 43% (245-45-18-W)
Driving on a combination of roads for 12 easy going miles
Tram-lining on these tyres (especially as they wear) makes the car handling dreadful; came lose to giving the car back. As a consequence of that tram-lining I kept a close eye on the pressures; yet despite this and routinely driving sedately the wear was disappointing.

Driving on mostly motorways for 10000 spirited miles
On a V70 RDesign Volvo 2.0D doing 20k a year with 70% motorway, remainder B roads. Noisy with not great road response and a hard ride. Great grip in dry and fair in the wet but changed to Dunlop SP SportMaxxTT and got a much softer ride. Performance was good but ride comfort AWFUL!
