255/35 18 Tyre Review Highlights

Michelin Pilot Super Sport rated 76% while driving a BMW 335i
Driving on a combination of roads for 30000 easy going miles
I brought a second hand BMW 335i with new PSS * at all corners.
225/40 R18 & 255/35 R18
Dry handling is very good, good grip and even better once up to temperature.
Wet handling, is a no. Traction control kicks-in too often, understeer is never far either. And I nearly lost the rear once in a normal curve at normal speed, the ESP saved me.
Aquaplaning seams to arrive fast as well.
Wear is good, I'm not an aggressive driver. Front tyres are still very fine. Rear have maybe 35% left after 40000km.
For the Noise, I have nothing to compare with. Same for comfort. But my winter tyres are more comfy (Gislaved Eurofrost).
I'll choose something different next time as in Belgium we have quite some rainy days.

Landsail DH2 rated 28% while driving a BMW Z4
Driving on mostly country roads for 0 average miles
Got fitted to Z4 by the garage as it was the only tyre they had in stock this size. Absolutely shocking tyre, way too soft. Feels like sponge. Rear slips non stop, roundabout, corners etc.. and going at 40-50 kmph. This tyre is not safe by all means and should not be allowed to retail. There are plenty budget brands for this price which does the job rather well. Be safe. Do not buy it!

Tomket Sport Series 1 rated 79% while driving a BMW 325ci M Sport convertible
Driving on mostly motorways for 3000 average miles
Update on review I did in January.

The tyres grip really well in the dry and wet, however I have only had them on the car for 4 months and already I am down to 3-4mm (even) tread on both. One failed the MOT due to damage from a nail or glass, although it never punctured or leaked.

I think these must have a softer compound than many other cheap tyres which although means they have great wet and dry grip, they seem to be wearing really fast and I have only done about 3000 miles. I have not been racing or wheel spinning so will try Imperials when I have to replace these in the next few months.

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 rated 91% while driving a BMW 330D Touring
Driving on a combination of roads for 1200 spirited miles
Extremely happy with these tires. Fronts are 225/40/18 rears are 255/35/18. 330d xDrive.
I bought and fitted them a bit earlier than I usually do (mid March). As luck had it we had a few rainy and very cold days with damp and almost 0C temperatures in the mornings, when going to work. Whilst they of course required careful driving I was surprised by the amount of grip and confidence I had in those conditions.
Now that temperatures are higher and it's mostly dry I can say I am even more impressed. Grip is outstanding, they are noticeably quieter than my previous tires (Hankook evo 3s) and the ride is quite comfortable. I can't comment on wear as I've done about 1200 miles so far.

Altenzo Sports Comforter rated 47% while driving a Audi S6

Ok tyre in the dry but dangerous in the wet . Does not give you any confidence and let's loose very unexpectedly. Will definitely be steering clear of these in the future !!!!

Uniroyal RainSport 5 rated 88% while driving a BMW 330d M Sport
Driving on a combination of roads for 7000 spirited miles
Retired my Bridgstones after several sets as not worth the money for average performance. Switched to the Rainsports 3's all round on my BMW 330D Touring some 7 years ago, won't use any other tire. Gives me so much confidence in the wet & dry, great grip, good wear rate also when exercising the 'Horses' to a good lather. The Rainsport 5's appear just as good, won't consider anything else for the money.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4 rated 90% while driving a BMW 330ci
Driving on a combination of roads for 40000 spirited miles
I had these on my car for 6 years before they started cracking to the point of the tyres losing air. There was still a lot of tread left, but they had to be replaced for safety reasons. The grip was very good in both wet and dry, and they are surprisingly comfortable for what they are, max performance tyres. They're not as grippy as the pilot sport 4s or super sport, which is to be expected, but for strictly street driving, they're hard to fault. I have had various toyo proxes, hankook s1 evo, bridgestone RE040, RE050, goodyear eagle F1, and none of them comes close to the ps4, at least to me. None of them lasted as long, and the michelin ps4 was just better overall.

Tomket Sport Series 1 rated 80% while driving a BMW Unknown
Driving on a combination of roads for 1000 average miles
Had a set of Tomket Sport rear tyres installed on my BMW E46 325Ci replacing some Continentals after damaging them due to potholes and I have to say I am really impressed.

Great grip and no issues so far. Too early to say about wear but when I need the fronts replaced I will certainly look to complete the Tomket set and they are around a quarter to a third of the price of the main brands.

Michelin Pilot Sport 5 rated 65% while driving a BMW Unknown
Driving on mostly country roads for 2000 average miles
Bought these for my 330d bmw , bought all 4 and was straight away thinking wow these aren’t as good as the pilot sport 4 !!!
In cold dry weather don’t grip as well .
The pilot 4 gave me confidence where these I’m unsure, hope there better in hotter weather but when these wear out I’m back on the 4

Accelera 651 Sport rated 60% while driving a BMW Unknown
Driving on a combination of roads for 6000 spirited miles
Bought these after switching from a Miata. I didn't want to spend $800+ on autocross tires, and knew some people who ran these at autocross.
In the dry, these tires grip. Hard to say objectively, since I haven't had any other 200TW tires on the E46 but these tires out gripped my NB Miata on Falken RT660s (measured by speedometer around the same 4 leaf clover). I felt that they handled both fun road driving and autocross very well.

In the wet, these things love to hydroplane. If you get into any standing water, slow down. Though, that's kind of expected with the cheaper 200TW (had similar problems on a set of GT Radial SX2s) segment. I never had these problems on my Falkens (admittedly they were 50mm narrower).

Tire wear was also not great, but I suspect that was partially due to my alignment settings.

They are much louder than my winter tires on the same car, but not a deal breaker for cheap 200TW tires.

For the price, I don't think you're going to beat these. Grip way better than my old GT Radials, and are dirt cheap. Unless you're ultra competitive in your class, I say go for them.

Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD08RS rated 73% while driving a Nissan R33 GTST 2.5 turbo RWD
Driving on a combination of roads for 10000 spirited miles
Been on 6 track day events this year with amazing results in good weather. Still a lot of life in the tyres left.
_______________________________________________________________________________________
Also did over 10000km this year on these tires, mountain roads, citys, highways. (road trips) daily driving.

Great tyre in dry warm conditions, as soon as its cold or wet you will have problems with grip, even on not so powerful cars.
Braking distance in the rain is really bad, you just slide.
Out of corners you need to expect to oversteer, if you put your foot down to early.

Accelera 651 Sport rated 81% while driving a Kia Motors ceed
Driving on a combination of roads for 10 spirited miles
I have used these tires now for about 2 years now. I was worried at first as I'm NOT a huge fan of trialing out tires from what I know works! I tried NS2R's and they were rubbish in light cold mornings and nearly crashed as they slipped out on me after a 30 mile drive! so those went and will NEVER get touched again!

Im a die hard Vredestein fan, from the sessanta's to the vorti's they do it all inc track days but do have limits on track days! its my go to tire for road use ALWAYS!!!

So after some heavy reading and reviews I decided to trial these 651 sports out for summer. when I got them on and they got worn in I liked what i was feeling with the stiff sidewall and response was great. I was mostly using them for my track wheels but on the roads so I knew what to expect from them.

Dry handling is epic! they handle well and grip like you want them to, there is no moving of the tires sidewall so everything is direct and precise.

Wet handling is also pretty good to be fair, IT DOES HATE standing water! but what track tire don't! they can handle well in the rain and once i got over my fear for my first wet drive they really shocked me as to how well they grip in the wet and brake under real hard testing without being able to lock them up much, you will see some cornering grip loss of course. if you go over 80mph they can float a bit on the water surface if its raining hard. light rain seems to not bother them really

I generally get 1, 9 month use out of the fronts ( 10k miles ish ) and then i can re use the rears next year BUT they do crack easily the following year you use them so you will possibly not get 2 full years from them without replacing them sooner, that's the ONLY downside really for the price. I swap rears to front the next year and then replace after a few months for new ones and then the rears to the front again and so on and so on.

it works out cheaper to buy good road tires for 2 - 4 years vs buying these for normal road use over 2 years. so bare this in mind!
But since this is a track tire you likely will need it for 1 year and that's all if you get them to last.

I find these do follow road gaps more then normal tires but that's ok and just keep hands on the wheel more.

I would and do buy these again and again each year for my non OEM wheels i run most of summer time. its a great tire to run and use and you really wont be disappointed in them. Wait for sales if you can as they do 20-30% sometimes off the tires which is nice and makes them even more of great value to run
