Michelin PS4 vs Bridgestone S007A
- Good in wet / Good in dry
- Softer sidewall which flex a bit / Harder similar to re050 but not s001
- More comfortable / less comfortable
- Both noise similar in my opinion
- Handling individual preference

Initial review of this tyre. Much better feel as compared to previous Michelin Pilot Sport 4 if compared with sidewall and dry grip. Shall update more later.

I'm usually go for mountain driving. - Way better dry grip than PS4. - Sidewall support are excellent, really fast steering response, gives you more confidence to throw the car into corners. - When driving normally in wet it feels safe but do not attempt to drive aggressively. - Dry drip loss a lot after around 2000km, oversteer occurs more frequently, but still easy to handle and feels safe. - wear out at 8000-9000km

Solid improvement over the RE003. Wet or dry it grips well.

When warm these tires have excellent dry forwards grip (traction). By warm I mean 25C or higher ambient temperature in summer after a decent drive to warm them up. Otherwise they are terrible in colder temperatures and the traction is poor in the wet. I realise my car has a lot of torque (RWD) but trying to gently accelerate out of an intersection or a corner is a receipe for sliding in all but the best conditions, starting in second gear is the only option in the wet. Braking seems average unless it is hot. This might be a good tire for the tropics but for USA, New Zealand, UK and Europe I would avoid. Definitely won't be buying them again, next will be either pilot sport 4 or maybe the new bridgestone sport although I am worried this one might suffer in colder weather also. I have had RE002, RE003, RE050 before which were all better.

My car is subaru gc8 with 280 bhp. Use S007A for trackday was very impressive than RE003 in dry surface. The lap time even more than 3 seconds faster. There is no obvious heat problem after 30 minutes running. For road use, it's similar with RE003, not so comfortable, feeling of resistance when encountering stagnant water. Should be better driving carefully in rainy day.

As Bridgestone have stopped making the RE003 in the size for the rear of our Mercedes E550 (2wd) we bought a pair of S007A's which are nowhere near as good. I really struggle to get the power down, even a bit of a push to get into traffic in the dry will make it skid up the rear wheels and have the traction control kicking in. Driving it in the rain is a frustrating exercise as it's even worse. I have bought RE001's, RE002's and RE003's for all our vehicles and I have loved them. Even at a 'buy one get one half price' sale the pair of S007a's cost $640. For the price tag these tyres are rubbish. Bring back the RE003's,

I was on michelin pss and then ps4 before i tried the soo7a, in terms of dry grip, the s007a is right up there with the pss but 20% cheaper than even the pss or ps4s. The s007a does get sticky when you drive hard on them but it feels hard to the touch when driven moderately. The sidewall is stiff and feedback is very much similiar to the pss and gives you alot of confidence when you push your car around bends or driven hard. The s007a is very forgiving when at the limit, the tyres loses grip gradually and you still feel very much in control unlike other tyres that just breaks traction suddenly. The car also turns in fast with the s007a and does not feel muted or vague so you have a good idea on the level of grip that you have. These tyres are more than adequate for street use and works very well in the wet. The s007a also seems to be able to stop quicker as compared to the pss or ps4 though i doubt it would last as long as michelin pilot sport tyres as the grooves on the outer shoulders of the s007a are shallower. In terms of road noise, it is pretty much the same as ps4 or any other road going tyres and is very acceptable. The ride is not harsh as well, though every bump can be felt. I would consider using these tyres again if the wear rate is good, simply because of the high level of grip both in dry and wet, the feedback, responsiveness and price point. Other tyres that I have used before would include advan ad07, ad08s, toyo t1r, r1rs, bridgetone so2 and so4, falken rt215s.

Amazing grip in the dry and fantastic handling. Dropped 2 seconds round the track with these. Does wear out but not as fast as my Michellins. Road noise is minimal.

These are one of the best Max Performance/ UHP tyres for dry grip and handling. Really enjoyed high speed corners and tossing the car around on quiet roads. You can be confident driving aggressively and have strong braking with this. Compares well against the PS4 in dry handling. However, I have overpowered the rears on a wet road when I wasn’t expecting to and aquaplaning resistance is not the very best either. The PS4 is slightly better in this aspect. Comfort and noise levels were acceptable. I changed these out with lots of life left when going up in size, but the wear looks to be about average.
