Given 90% while driving a Audi S3 (225/40 R18) on a combination of roads for 23,000 spirited miles
i've tried these tyres in different cars, one is a c63 MB and the on an audi s3 , the main difference the size of the tyres, on the 225, these tires are comfy and very low noised, on the other even nd on the 275 noise is louder , comfort about the same. thats it thats my only criticism. handling, cant be better baking damn .. face gesture making.. and all these with very good comfort levels. traction and steering response amazing. im really glad i purchased these instead of the asymmetric ...performance level is up without real compromise. amazing tyres

Given 91% while driving a BMW 140i xdrive (225/40 R18) on mostly country roads for 5,000 spirited miles
Amazing handling qualities with exceptional steering reactions and highly confidence inspiring in dry conditions. Very good dry grip with good wet grip for a UUHP tire. Nevertheless not a wet performance tire as reactions in the wet at the limit can be a little bit demanding for average driving skill (if the electronics are turned off completely). Good wear especially when driven hard and/or frequently at the limit or on the track (about 5000 miles and still look quite new / about 6 mm left with even wear in spite of driving excessively fast curves). Had before the Yokohama AD08R which I loved. Compared with these, grip is on a identical level but Goodyear demands less heat in the tire to result in same grip. Turn in of Goodyear is a little bit faster and more precise and both are a bit "meaty" and side walls are strong. Therefore only average tire pressure (2.4 bar) is required and tire remains reliable also under extreme driving conditions (no imprecise behaviour or reactions of the tire). Comfort is quite good for UUHP (at least as good as original MIchelin PSS tires).

Given 91% while driving a BMW Z4M Coupe (255/40 R18) on a combination of roads for 10,000 spirited miles
225/45/18 and 255/40/18

I bought these in 2020 after seeing the excellent reviews on this site. I have so far covered around 10k with them on everything from rough city streets to autobahns and tracks. They have been superb and offer an almost no compromise performance upgrade over more road oriented tyres.

Dry
In the dry these really hang on. Turn in is direct and the grip is well balanced front to rear. I’ve also found myself able to get on the throttle much sooner and with more confidence than before. Braking is excellent and has only made my brake pads seem even more lacking than ever.

Wet
I was a little concerned that there would be a wet weather trade off with this type of tyre, but if there is, I can’t tell. Traction is better than ever and grip is surprisingly good. I don’t use the car much in the wet and don’t tend to push it when I do, but incredibly they appear to perform noticeably better than the old Asymmetric 2s they replaced.

Track
The biggest difference compared to my previous tyres is their ability to be pushed for much longer on track without overheating. The F1 SS is a huge step up in this regard and whilst I’m sure a dedicated track tyre would be better again, you’d be making other compromises to get that advantage.

Wear, noise and comfort.
I doubt many will care that much if they’re looking at this kind of tyre but it’s good to know you won’t need ear plugs, a seat cushion and an overdraft when you’re just driving normally. For wear, it’s possibly too early to tell but there’s huge amounts of tread left and no worn shoulders. I also didn’t notice any increase in noise but as the Z4 is relatively noisy, it’s hard to be sure. In terms of comfort they are a little stiffer and harsher over sharp ridges and potholes but it’s a relatively small difference and a price worth paying if you want that extra connection and directness. An added bonus is that my MPG hasn’t suffered either. I’ve been to Italy and back twice on these and there’s no perceptible difference in economy compared to other times I’ve done the trip.

Summary/TLDR

If you want a high performance road tyre with more grip and feedback compared to a UHP summer tyre, look no further. The F1SS moves the performance on from the Asymmetric range without giving up any amount of real world usability. It’s ability to handle heat is leagues above a normal summer tyre and should satisfy all but the most dedicated of track goers. The only noticeable compromise for me was a slight loss of comfort over harsh bumps but given the nature of the tyre and all the other benefits it offers it’s a total non issue.

I’m reluctant to give these a 10/10 simply because I’m no tyre tester, but I’d say they’re pretty much perfect for anyone wanting more focus and grip without sacrificing the ability to daily drive the car in mixed environments and conditions.

Given 86% while driving a Mitsubishi EVO 8 (255/35 R18) on a combination of roads for 5,000 spirited miles
Excellent premium tyre for a dry weekend car. Mounted these to a 2004 Mitsubishi Evo 8mr and now this thing is the king of corners. Whatever corner I throw at it, it just grips, no tyre squeal, no understeer or oversteer. would recommend to anybody after a dry grip weekend tyre. Tyre also has decent rim protection if you are after that. Decent looking sidewall. Made in Germany. Don't pay extra for the Michelin PS4S when you can have these for slightly less money.

Given 88% while driving a SEAT Cupra 300 (235/40 R18) on track for 2,500 spirited miles
I drive my car mainly on track, I done 4 trackdays in 4 months/5,000km. By the 4th trackday the tyres were too worn take the power of my car and give me confidence into the bends. I done 5 trackdays last year on Michelin PS4s and they were only half worn. I do think the Goodyears are as good as the Michelins but did not last as long. I’m undecided what to buy yet for the next year of trackdays but currently swaying towards the Goodyears again due to price difference.

Given 67% while driving a Mercedes Benz C300 (255/35 R19) on mostly motorways for 0 average miles
Changed to these from ps4s the ps4s lasted 2 1/2 to 3 years. Replaced the rears first and 4 months later ordered fronts, when I had them fitted tyre shop said you will need to replace the rears soon I said I only just put them on. It's now 12 months on and the rears are shot to bits. Car is only driving as a daily driver. Worst wearing tire ever goodyear should be embarrassed to sell these.

Given 90% while driving a BMW (245/40 R19) on a combination of roads for 300 spirited miles
I have been trying a number of new tires lately, PS4S, PS5 and F1A6 for having better handling and response for my 540i xdrive but at the same time getting city road comfort for my wife. None gets my satisfaction when doing spirited country road drive. I first hesitated to try F1SS after having read all the reviews on its harsh ride. To me it's more like a last resort. What a surprise to get the feel and response from the tires. It has much more solid feel and stability than PS4S when cornering and adequate ride comfort in the city. The noise is also negligible. However, I am not sure about the wet grip yet.

Given 60% while driving a Toyota Yaris (225/45 R17) on mostly country roads for 1,750 miles
Great tyre in the dry with good feedback. Good in a lot of wet conditions too, but some wet surfaces cause it to be very sketchy compared to PS4S's which seems to be more consistent on varying wet road surfaces. Wear was really bad. Less than 2000 miles and the fronts were dead compared to 8000 on PS4's on road use.

Given 90% while driving a BMW E46 M3 (245/35 R19) on mostly country roads for 400 spirited miles
When it came to replacing the tyres on my CSL wheels, everyone recommended I change to PS4S (recently bought the car and had some very old, dried out Achilles tyres on them). And I was tempted to. But I remember watching one of Jonathan’s videos and remember him saying how good the F1SS was. I tried to watch every video I could find on the F1SS and eventually I ordered a set. These tyres have blown my mind. I mainly do weekend runs on mountain passes/touge style roads and the occasional trackday. Because of our hot African climate, I wasn’t too worried about the cold/wet performance as it doesn’t really get below 8’C here in winter, and even then I don’t do much driving in anything but my daily driver. The F1SS are very quick to warm up and when they do, they really stick. Initial turn-in feels great, and steering feedback through corners is amazing. The rears seem to never run out of grip and even after pushing them on a fast, technical mountain pass, they just keep up. Road noise seems fairly non-existent. They have a normal amount of noise on the freeway, but overall I find it a quiet tyre. I also don’t find them too stiff, they seem pretty comfortable considering the car is lowered. I have done one session of “spirited” driving in the wet, but didn’t push very hard. I didn’t feel like I was running out of grip at any stage though, I remember being impressed and thinking they shouldn’t feel this good in the wet. So far, very good! I’ve done about 6 or 7 demanding drives since fitting them and really love the way they feel and grip, especially compared to the MPS4S I’ve felt on other cars. If they last well with my driving style, I won’t hesitate to put these on other cars as well. It also makes me very excited for the next generation of these tyres.

The tire was a joy in the dry , up there with PS4 but as the tread reduced damp driving became a real pain. Wet driving was ok and predictable but damp , slight damp roads made this tire spin. It would spin at real low speeds. I would reverse out of my drive and push forward and spin , spin. This problem started at under 4mm and at under 3mm it was so annoying. I changed the fronts today to Hankook Evo 3's due to there 1st placing in a recent test. When new and in the dry a marvelous tire it just didnt like damp much like some of the Potenza's i have owned. So in essence , change this tire at 3mm. One last biggie on this , i was down to 3mm at 9k miles!
