SEAT Leon Cupra R 225 Tyre Review Highlights

Writing about the Yokohama ADVAN Neova AD08RS given 69% (225-40-18-)
Driving on mostly country roads for 48000 spirited miles
I bought the AD08RS for the reason some people hate it. I didn’t just want a UHP tire, but also didn’t want to buy new tires every season. The AD08 RS was practically perfect. My driving profile is spirited but daily driving with around 4-5 track sessions per year.
The wear on these is amazing, I have covered 48000km with the set I have on my FWD Hatchback. While not being as fast as some Direzzas or AR-1s, I felt them very close to the NS-2R on track, and it felt many times better than Michelin Pilot Super Sports.
Hydroplaning was acceptable for such a tread pattern aswell, normal highway speeds were no problem with moderate rain.

The only complaint I have is the noise and stiffness of the sidewall. These tires are kinda loud and have a harsher ride than usual. Still, as someone who likes to drive sporty, I do not regret having these tires at all. I just wish the AD09 would be available in the 225/40 R18 size :D

Driving on mostly country roads for 19000 spirited miles
I had this tire for the past 3 years on an FWD Cupra R, and I have to say, I grew to like the tire. Sure, it’s not the classical race-bred semi slick for track use, but it really suited my 70% road and 30% track driving style. The tire lasts for a very long time and is exceptional in the wet for a semi slick. The dry grip is better than the PS4S and the braking performance is great. The ride is a little harsh and the tire is loud. It‘s also not a very playful tire, if you step over the line, you get a snappy response. All in all, a great tire for people who drive on track & road too.

Great tyres for the money. Way better than PS4 although take some scrubbing in which to me means they will be a better more grippy tyre in the long run. Had PS4 previously and the sidewalls perished very quickly and were not as grippy. Converted 4 friends to these tyres by taking them out in my car, with PS4 prior and now the vs5. Great tyre will buy again and again

Ok firstly i only do around 3000 miles pa.
so i did not want to buy expensive tyres, if i was loaded then i would have got th Uniroyal rainsport 3.
I am very happy with these, I have a 225bhp car, so it can be very quick.
Very happy with the feel and control of these.
Chuffed as, plus I got 4 for £150 delivered. fantastic

these are I have found to be fantastic tyres both in the wet and dry.sidewall is a little soft if cornering hard nothing a couple extra psi doesn't sort.. wear rate I have done 8k on the fronts tht I expect would see another 2k at least before being fully worn but gonna change front to back so I'd expect 20k ish per set
fantastic tyre for the money...as there classed as a mid range tyre...I've had load of premium branded tyres on lots of cars and dare i say it these were best a long way....!
definitely buy again...

I has a full set of these put on my Cupra R about a year ago and I have to say I've been very impressed. I've completed 10,000 miles since then, I've definitely given them a proper workout and I reckon I've still got a good 5000 miles left on the fronts and obviously more on the rear.

I can't really fault them at all, I used to get quite bad wheel spin in 1st and 2nd but they've really brought that under control. The performance in the wet is what impressed me the most, they still feel absolutely solid and are very good under braking.

They can be a bit crashy on badly maintained roads but I imagine this to be pretty much the same on all tyres of this size. They protect the alloys nicely when parking tightly to kerbs and the noise from the is not noticeable.

Would definitely recommend. Fantastic tyre for the price.

i brought these tyres February last year and certainly wasn't disappointed, i needed a pair of tyres on the front of the car to replace the mullered conti sport contact 3's that i bought the car on. for me given the car and the power it had, i wasn't going to settle with cheap tyres or ones that had less than great reviews. i have worked in the tyre industry for nearly 10 years and through customer recommendations and through my knowledge i took the plunge and bought ps3's. so glad i did. nice and quiet, stick to the road like the proverbial to a blanket, great in the wet, amazing feedback, soft forgiving sidewalls but nothing in the way of understeer, absolutely love them, probably got around 12000miles to a pair which i consider good for my car as its driven quite hard. I'm looking to replace very soon, now I'm torn weather to stick to what i know or up[grade to the ps4...

Decided to give these a try after having various other brands. so far very impressed as I drive up hill and down dale to work on varying roads and surfaces. The tyres haven't broke traction under enthusiastic driving or screamed like a bag of stabbed pigs. Feel and feedback are good and the road noise doesn't feel like im going to work in a tumble dryer full of house bricks. After having had Maxxis which fell apart and split in 4000 miles no customer service response ! Then a set of AVON zz5 excellent in dry not so clever in wet got 15 000m out of them on front . Lets see what these Goodyears have to offer and how long they last;as Arnie said "al be back!"

Had these on my Remapped (262Bhp / 283lb/ft) Leon Cupra R for just under 10K now an amazing amount of life left. Love how good they are in horrible wet conditions (the wife also commented on this when driving thorough a storms in southern France and Geramny). Dry grip and braking are amazing as is the lovely progressive breakaway when pushing on which helps on unknown mountain roads. Hard to comment on feedback as the Leon is pretty dead in this respect anyway, I put these on the day of purchase so have no benchmark to work with on this car. Overall after going through various models of all the premium brands over my 18 years of driving these are the only one of 2 tyres I would buy again without thought (others being Vredstien Sessanta) can't recommend them enough.

Had these put on my cupra r as they were recomended too me. Have had them on for 8 months and done about 10,000 miles. Where resonably quiet on the motorway and handled well in corners on the country lanes.

The front 2 are now on the 1.6mm bar and rears are not far behind. Are great tyres when driving but expected them too last longer.

Had an issue with major wheel spinning wnen setting off quick, thought these might solve it but no, still spins alot in dry and very bad in the wet.
