DO NOT BUY THESE TYRES. I don't take my car out in the wet because it. Wet roads wheels spins at 10km/hr in the straight, very embarrassing and more importantly DANGEROUS.In dry conditions slips in straight brakings from 60km/hr to stop in 40m with gradual braking. THESE ARE SAFETY HAZZARD TYRES. Toyota mr2 sw20 na. 50%tread left on tyres

Have used these tyres for fast road and even track use. No doubt there are grippier tyres about but these are a great all round tyre and certainly the best you can get for the price.
Sidewalls are a bit softer than other tyres, solved by running a slightly higher PSI.

I know a lot of people don't rate them but I found them an excellent choice on the front of my Toyota 1996 MR2. Being mid engine they suit the light front end of my car and has the added bonus of having a built in rim protector that most budget tyre don't have.
Unfortunate I now need a replacement due to a puncture rather then wear(4.5mm left after 10k).

have them on rear but have rear wheel drive car. in scotland avarage temeperature 10-15 C, quite often wet.
On wet car slips and dont grip again just drifts away until turn 180 degrees, yes been on the edge of dying. If you are in rainy cold climat forget it. you may die.
on dry sunny day they behave ok like an average tyre and last long

The Car: Mk2 Toyota MR2 with a V6 conversion and LSD. Staggered set up with coilovers, 205x55 front and 225x55 rear on 16" lightweight wheels.

Price for these tyres vs performance is brilliant, having the heavier engine with torque on tap mounted in the back you really want progressive tyres and these deliver. Full of confidence. Turn in is brilliant and wet grip is also great, really impressed with the wet grip as I thought they would stumble.. On par with the T1R's and better in the wet. They have more grip than a lot of premium brands, don't let the word Ecorun put you off. They are not even driectional :)

I can't comment on the noise as my car is loud anyway, but vibration and harshness is fine even with the stiffer set up and lighter wheels.

All that said, they are not a track tyre. Worth buying again and I will continue to use these for the road. Versatile and high performing.

Brought my toyota mr2 with freshly refurbed alloys with these dodgy tyres fitted. They have covered less then 1200 mile since new.On the MOT one front tyre was found to have dangerously split at the moulding line on the side wall. Had this tyre replaced thinking it was just pot hole damage, now i have found that the other 3 tyres are all starting to split at the same area.VERY DANGEROUS make of tyre should be banned, even before i noticed them falling apart on me.They made my car's handling in the wet dangerous, the slightish bit of dampness felt like driving on black ice.PLEASE NEVER BUY THESE TYRES YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT.If you have them fitted replace as soon as possible!!!!!!!!!

If you have an mr2 on original 15" rims, good rear tyres are to find. It's a choice of Pirelli p-zero (£220+) Falken ze912 or the Toyo t1r, if you can find them!!!!
The Toyo t1r offers very good dry grip (track days) for a very good price, road noice is average and front end braking is fantastic, even in the wet. The two downsides are soft side walls, which reduces steering feel & response, compared to your top end brands & the wear rate is high, but this is a track focused tyre & lower profile tyres will have much smaller side wall to move on.
The falken ze912 I felt it had better response & feel and has lasted longer, rides smooth but then it's not so track focused. Have not used the pirelli p-zero..

I bought 2 of these tires for my MR2 MK2. On the rear.
Probably the worst tires on the planet.
Wet traction 0
Dry traction 6 and they "whistle"

THESE TYRES SUCKS

I inherited these on the front when I bought my MR2. Whilst just about ok in the dry (although a bit of understeer on roundabouts), they are terrifying in the wet. Having come from a set of Uniroyal Rainsport's on a Fiesta Zetec S, which were excellent in the wet, these are genuinely scary.

E.g. Sliding at 20mph on a moderate right-hander. ABS kicking in under moderate braking from 20mph.

Awful, awful tyres. Noisy too.

Driving on a combination of roads for 1000 spirited miles
I've driven this tyre for some months now and for the most part it is ok, but there are a few things that let the tyre down on my car.

In the wet the tyre behaves good, and grips well.
In the dry it lets go a bit fast. If you drive a bit hard and spirited the tyre slips on dry asphalt sooner than you would expect. This have happende to me a couple of times. I'm used to driving conti sport contact 3 on the car, and this had a lot more grip in the dry.

The biggest let down of the tyre however is that it is not able to drive in a straight line. You do constantly have to make minor corrections to the steering wheel to keep the car straight. The tyre follows tracks in the road like they were railroad tracks, and it is hard to keep the car from following deep tracks in the road.
When braking hard the tyre can't go straight either, and will pull the car to the side. This can be scary at high speeds, as you suddenly use two lanes when braking hard, because you have to correct the dirrection the tyres send you in.

On the pluss sides the tyre is very quiet and grips good in rain.
If it had been more direction stable, it would have been good. But the "unstabilty" of the tyre lets it down big time on a sports car.

I'va also tried the tyre on trackdays. If you are thinking about doing this:
In the rain it can be done. In the dry: DON'T do it.
If you are travelling at 180 km/h and brake hard, you will use the whole track to keep the car staight.
I have tyres with the XL sidewalls. This may cause these problems.

However I would not buy these tyres to any car. They are to expensive compared to what they offer in preformance.

Next time I'm probably buying goodyears or bridgestone.

Driving on a combination of roads for 4000 spirited miles
I've had these tyres on my mr2 for about four years now.
The car has mostly been driven on country roads, with about 200 miles driven on track with these tires.
On the road they are good in the dry. The grip well and give good feedback, until you approach the limit of the tyre. When you loose traction it happes suddenly and without warning, I've experienced this a few times on track, and it is scary.
The sidewalls are a bit soft, so in a higher profile than 40, the tyre is a bit wobbely when turning hard.

In the wet the tyre is controlable and give good feedback, with loss of traction happening a bit more progressivly, so you can feel when it's about to slip.
But the grip is not good. On the track in the wet the conti tyre was outpreformed by almost all other similar priced tyres. Both the michelin PS3 and the Pirelli Pzero had a lot more grip through bends in the wet.

On the road in the wet, the tyre feels steady, and I've never had aquaplaning in standing water, not even at high speeds.

These tyres are a bit noisy on rough tarmac.

Half worn out after about 4000 miles with sipirited driving, and 200 miles of trackday driving.

I've tried better tyres than these when it comes to grip and comfort. Next time I'll probably buy michelins or nokian.
